The plot of the show follows the two girls switching places, much like The Parent Trap, as they navigate the world from their differing perspectives and lives. ⊱ If you haven’t caught on by now, weird things happen when people cross Vi. Sometimes, though, so Vi isn’t really aware of it. It’s just as likely that you piss her off and nothing happens as it is something happens.
⊱ For instance, if you’re a failed romance, you might end up a pig or a hideous monster. Or you might just wake up with horns that go away before class starts. It’s rare that major instances of transmutation occur, though the occasional scaly armpit or even just a simple bad hair day might be in the mix. Still- you might have seriously wronged her and you wouldn’t even notice because all that happened was you woke up with a baby pimple full of green pus that you easily popped before first period. Simply depends!
⊱ Because of this, Vi doesn’t really notice most of it. She knows when things are really off (she couldn’t exactly ignore Jason turning into a pig, now could she?) but other than that it’s not much of a point of focus for her. Her sleep-walking and sleeplessness is odd, but she tries to write it off and convince herself it has nothing to do with the night she clashed with her father. Or the Swim Girl event.
⊱ Moving into stuff Vi wouldn’t know, her witchcraft is ala Circe’s. In Greek mythology, she’s a sorceress, and in The Odyssey, this translates into her turning Odysseus’s men into pigs. There’s also a story of her turning a flame’s side-lover into a hideous monster. Fun times! Circe primarily does this through spell-casting and potions. This translates into Violet in a number of ways.
⊱ The potions thing? It’s why Vi can bake so well. Pretty insignificant detail, but it’s still important! It makes sense why people might end up with something odd happening to them after tasting one of her award-winning brownies.
⊱ Violet sleepwalks because… reasons I still have to figure out and that I’ll try to keep secret because I want something to be tenuous! I like having things spoiled, but I know that ruins it for some people. She goes to this weird tree in the middle of the night, that she only knows exists because she has strange dreams about it, where she hears its voice. Corruptus. Its a nice tree, and she feels she’s learning something from it. However, Vi doesn’t realize it’s a ~real thing~. She just knows she dreams about it and forgets 90% of it. The only reason she’s aware of sleep-walking is that she’s been slightly awake during it.
⊱ To be truthful, Vi isn’t actually sleep-walking. It’s more like she’s sleep-forgetting. She’s in a trance-like state where she walks into the forest about once a month or so. It’s not usually a biggie since it isn’t something a lot of people realize, but that’s likely to change soon enough.
⊱ The reason why she’s going to this weird, glowing tree? Well, let’s say it’s teaching her some Ancient Greek that lets her cast spells and curse people. It usually only works when she has something emotional to attach herself to, but it has caused the weird outbursts from middle school to not repeat itself. There’s some good that comes with a tree called something kind of scary!
⊱ The types of spells she’s learned so far are pretty much wish-fulfillment related. It’s not like she needs much else… right? Who knows, but Vi couldn’t defend herself from jack with the stuff she’s learned. What happened to the girl from that July night? She could do some wild shit, almost Carrie-style. Still, Vi doesn’t know any of this other than things aren’t as chaotic as they used to be. (Vigilante in the future maybe?)
⊱ Oh and that feeling that she’s got a constant supply of caffeine in her veins? That’s related to all this magic mumbo jumbo too. Energy, like the stuff that makes up ley lines and lets psychics predict the future, courses through her. It’s a delicate balance, but the whole spell-casting thing is a necessity. Hence why she bakes a lot when she’s at Carole’s- there’s no one to hex so that energy’s got to go somewhere!
⊱ When Vi gets the chance to sleep, she usually dreams of the tree or of something that manifests itself in the morning. Like with her collection of designer earrings, Vi’s phone and all the seemingly never-ending yarn she has comes from this type of dreaming. Granted, she hasn’t figured out how to do anything useful with it other than get stuff she thinks is practical. It’s also not something she can just do. It happens by accident. At least she can usually sleep for a few nights after it happens.
⊱ Oh and Vi’s slightly fluent in Ancient Greek now. She just hasn’t been prompted to use it other than in times she doesn’t remember it. But it’s there.
⊱ Going back to the energy thing, there’s one thing that should be understood about all that. It’s a lot like karma. You give some and someone else gets some. Most people {I feel like there should be another term than witch but I don’t really like sorceress very much. Just know that this is all Greek mythology-related magic + my made up parts of Greek mythology sorcery and it might differ in terms of a definition of a “witch”} It’s not a coincidence her mother passed the night she stood up to her father, to say the least.
⊱ Overall, the basic idea with Vi’s “witchcraft” is that it’s pretty much an amalgamation of already mentioned influences + my own silly little add-ons and how I see those inspirations translating into a modern context. Not all of it makes 100% sense, like how Vi can’t remember much of the whole “spell-casting” thing or choose who is her next “victim,” but I think that adds to the mystery! Plus I haven’t completely developed everything so… there’s that. Still, this is a good starting place + hopefully anyone who really cares to read any of this will be somewhat intrigued by my attempt to do a thing with witches! At any rate, sh!t’s gonna get weird.

𝐄 𝐗 𝐓 𝐑 𝐀 𝐒

✧ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭

𝒮𝒽𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝐼𝓉 𝒪𝓊𝓉 by 𝐹𝓁𝑜𝓇𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒 + 𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝑀𝒶𝒸𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑒

Prior to the events of the show, Zelda dresses up as a princess and entices young children in with her ability to speak to deer and birds. She looks fairly angelic. However, once the show begins, World War Z is in full clown garb: white face, cute little blue nose, red arrows, painted-on lashes, etc. She dresses to the nines. Her dance number includes her clown posse {their insanity is yet to be determined}, who she helps with their makeup every show. They do a ballet routine in frilly dresses and pointe shoes.

It begins with the other clowns arranged at the edge of the ring with Zelda in the middle. She’s holding something close to her chest. A few seconds into the song, she releases her pet butterfly, Mr. Clean, into the air. He flutters amongst the other dancers as she gets up, fluttering her feet in third position and arms in second. Thus begins her solo with her body in constant, soft motion until the music swells. Then, she stands perfectly still, statuesque. Once the beat drops, the circle of clowns around her begins to spin as the ring moves in a separate orbit around Zelda. At the mention of the devil, the circle breaks apart, resulting in the utter chaos of jetes, pirouettes, and lifts that are only complimented by the technicolor dream of butterflies, birds, and other flying species. On the ground, the deer, tiger, and bear under the ring, gathering around Zelda. They bow to her, and with her face gleeful, she dances fairy-like around them.

This continues until the end of the song, as the tempo slows down gradually. Then, the animals begin to run off in fear, fleeing as a show comes over the tent. Every one of the dancing clowns cowers in fear, kneeling on the ground. However, Zelda brushes it off, continuing the dance and helping her fellow clowns up. They exit, dragging their ribbons with gleeful excitement as they chase off the shadow.

✧ 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬

✧ Started smoking when she was thirteen, but she's somehow avoided smoker's breath with copious amounts of mints and mouthwash
✧ Her "RV" is actually a restored school bus she convinced everyone to help her paint a vibrant mix of colors. She shares it with {CHARACTER TBD}.

✧ Least favorite part of the show? Dressing up as a princess and enticing kids in before the show with her ability to interact with deers, dogs, and everything in between. Favorite? She may not agree with the circus' business practices, but she can at least help make those negatively affected feel more comfortable.

Percy is the personification of a staunch, Southern Republican who insists that it's his right to own an automatic weapon. If there was a second amendment, she'd be it's biggest supporter. Her bedazzled Glock and dainty mini-pistol {I am not a gun person, so if that's not a thing, then pretend it is} are always by her side, either in a DIYed holster or tucked neatly into her handbag. Sometimes this gets her into trouble considering weapons aren't exactly a supported accessory according to the dress code, but it's not her fault she only feels secure knowing she could hit a bitch if need be. That being said- the amount of times Persephone has gotten into trouble over pistol-whipping someone is too many for her to not be kicked out. However, given her natural talents and her father, people end up let her dangerously dramatic flare-ups pass by practically unnoticed. It certainly helps her aunt bails her out every time. Plus, according to her, why should it matter so much if the son of a bitch can just get a healing potion? It's their fault for spreading hate, they deserve to hurt for it.

Beyond her excessive gun collection, including the traditional antiques her father passes onto her for every birthday, Persephone enjoys her fists and hockey-player-meets-football-player abilities to body slam a bitch if need be. Her years of always competing with her brother, Adonis, led her to be the one most willing to throw a punch in anyone's honor, especially her own. Wrestling and street hockey weren't for nothing, according to her.

☽ 𝖘𝖐𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖘 ☾

𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐭-𝐚-𝐜𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐬- Persephone will kick anyone’s ass for free, so long as she has a reason for it. Growing up with Adonis, a god when it comes to all things sports, has bred her for fighting. Not to mention they regularly would play wrestle until the General insisted their playtime could translate into true talent. For several years, the siblings were enrolled in boxing, wrestling, hockey {or Selene’s equivalent}, football {because the General isn’t a sexist; he believes his daughter should be just as equipped as his son}, and fencing classes. He also made the Perez siblings incredibly competitive give his obsession with board games, especially checkers, chess, and crazy eights. Metaphorically and literally, Percy can easily throw a punch or beat your ass in a silly game.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲- The one thing that she has always been good at that Adonis wasn’t was strategy. She’s always been interested in the psychology of going about a battle, argument, or simply convincing a person to support the greater good and the team. She knows how to get people to see her side of things or to set things up in a certain way that it goes off without a hitch. If you ever wanted to rob a bank, you’d want to call Persephone. She’d ensure no one would even come close to being arrested. On top of that, she studies history and battle strategy for fun on Saturday evenings when there isn’t a party, game, or practice to go to. When asked to talk about something that interests her for hours, her eyes light up as she describes her favorite general, how she’d go about a certain historic battle with demons, and an antique weapon, and its history. There’s little she doesn’t know about strategy, and given her father, it’s a point of pride and bonding for the seemingly diametrically opposed father and daughter duo. While he doesn’t understand a lot of the things she’s good at, and she can’t meet his impossible demands, there’s one thing they have: Sunday phonecalls about their newest fact of the week.

𝐃𝐈𝐘 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧- Part of what’s made Percy slightly self-sufficient is her personal stylist side business. Although she enjoys her designer clothes, she also loves to f!ck them up and style things in a new way only to sell them. People pay her to put together an outfit or two for them, but usually, she busts out her sewing machine to redesign and manipulate last year’s collections. That’s what makes her service so popular; somehow, she can incorporate her goth statement pieces, couple them with pieces she collects every season, and put them together in a brand new way. It also helps every third bundle comes with a free, exclusive, custom scabbard, holster, etc. The number of times Persephone has received compliments on her chic garter holsters and purple sheath for her baby knife that hangs off the side of her purse is unimaginable, and people are willing to spend a hundred bucks just to get a cute way to truck around their weapons.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫- She may be a rich bitch, but it’s not like she’s immune to the perils of capitalism. She despises large corporations, especially ones that take advantage of social issues in favor of selling more product. Don’t ever bring up the military to her and how, despite its usefulness and importance, some politicians love to abuse it. And the majority of politicians are corrupted by the same corporations she despises. Let’s leave the environment out of your interactions with Percy too because that’ll only end in a rant. Hence why she’s a huge proponent of stealing from name brands. However, if she catches you shoplifting in a small-time convenience store or art shop, she makes no promise your wrist will survive. ”Be respectful, dammit!” in her words.

𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐬𝐬- It’s no secret that Luci loves to rock the boat, and she’s incredibly intolerant of people who disrespect her. Her father is a completely different story. She turns into a meek girl who lets her father’s comments about her appearance or her choice in friends and hobbies slide. Everyone else she’s able to stand up to and be confident to the point of annoyingness, including teachers and other faculty. ”Curse familial boundaries!” Perhaps this skill could be more aptly called “Lying,” but she values her perceived whole-hearted honesty more than her authenticity and independence. Percy’s willing to admit she kisses her father’s ass. So does everyone else.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦- Growing up in a highly competitive household and constantly being exposed to team-environments, Percy is definitely an extroverted, natural leader. She always ends up the head of things, especially when there’s conflict amongst her friends or her classmates. The ultimate mediator, Percy rarely gets involved in actual conflicts where she’s at fault. Often, she’s the moderator who gets everyone to see the other’s point of view. Additionally, it’s easy for her to take command of the room. It’s been a natural state of things since she was four. That doesn’t mean people don’t hate her… she’s hip-checked enough people into the wall. However, that only makes her leadership qualities stand out more. Luci believes that everyone is kind and worthy of respect until someone doesn’t give it to others. Then, all bets are off.

𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠- Ever the poet, she’s always scribbling down ideas for songs that have yet to reach the light of day. In school, Persephone writes ten million words about one topic, bound to get her thoughts, facts, and analysis down in the proper form. She can argue with the best of them, and she’s often the most articulate. It’s easy for her to slip into spending hours working on a poem, putting it in iambic pentameter despite finding it incredibly difficult. Writing is a challenge she enjoys thoroughly, almost as much as talking battle strategy or convincing her friends to try something new.

𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐈𝐧 𝐃𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐞- Persephone has always been able to move a mile a minute, despite her body type. When people hear about the record-holder for the fastest {insert cross country/track mile thing}, they don’t expect to see Persephone, curves and all. However, it’s something she’s naturally endowed with considering the whole vampire thing. Frankly, it’s one of the few things she’s proud of because she’s not a great vampire overall. Her father constantly reminds her of her aversion to turning into a bat (which freaks her out) and her inability to levitate properly. Her only pros are her strategy and ability to kick anyone’s ass in a physical altercation. She plays up and attempts to enhance her ability to move at superspeed in order to impress General Perez even if her aunt insists it isn’t necessary and she should “just be you!”

☽ 𝖈𝖑𝖆𝖘𝖘𝖊𝖘 ☾

𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐭𝐨-𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
While Percy loves her simple, easy access weapons, she also appreciates the simpler things. What's the point in being super fast if she can't at least have some sort of advantage in physical fights? Not all demons will go down with a single bullet... sometimes you have to throw a punch too!

Although goaded into taking the class by General Pérez, Percy's found the class actually helpful? Sure, they talk a lot about psychological ways of bringing a team together and of confusing and drawing out the enemy, but that seems to fit into an academic setting fairly well. Not to mention it's helped her chat with the ghosts a little bit better.
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲
Despite being a dept vampire, Persephone struggles with levitation and maintaining high distances above the ground for an extended period of time. She can't help but get nervous in the way she used to get when she first began to dance. It certainly doesn't help to be mildly afraid of heights.

There’s the part of Persephone that is rich-bitch, glamor-puss, “I-only-wear-designer,” and then there is the other part that believes in the redistribution of wealth, teamwork, and defending others. Either side is an utter bad bitch. Neither will stand for injustice or disrespect. One just happens to spend thousands on useless goods and the other hates herself for it. She still struggles with compromising between the two identities, and they make a bunch of drama. Unfortunately, Percy thrives off the chaos, attracting those types of people and exhibiting the types of crazy behaviors that make her feel alive. She doesn’t like personal drama, just the superficial, everything-is-happening-all-at-once type. Punching a guy who wolf-whistled at her or some other poor sap? Hell yes! Getting into an argument with a friend over how it “isn’t her place”? Not so much.

Luci naturally stands up to everyone who threatens the peace of a team or even of an individual. ”Everyone has their own bullshit to deal with, don’t make it any worse by being f!cking rude!” She’d take a bullet for probably any stranger. This upsets some people, and she’s made some enemies because of it, but it’s her whole-hearted belief that the world is an eye for an eye. If you think her loyalty and support for strangers is a bit much, imagine being her friend. Some could call her caring to a fault, almost to the point of over-baring, but it’s simply because she takes her role within people’s lives seriously. She knows it doesn’t mean much, but everything from complimenting a stranger on their outfit to helping a friend through an emotional crisis makes her feel wanted, needed, and deserving of a place on this planet.

That doesn’t mean shes super dependent. In fact, Lucifera can easily stand on her own in any battle. She just prefers to do with others because that’s the point of life- to support one another. Perhaps that’s why she’s much more socialist inclined than she thought was possible for a rich girl. She cares about other people immensely, and she can’t help but see there are little equality and ability for everyone to have equal respect when there’s a huge gap between people. Her goal is to eliminate the gaps between people, though it unintentionally often places her in positions that, while they appeal to the General, make her feel as though it goes against her intent.

☽ 𝖇𝖆𝖈𝖐𝖌𝖗𝖔𝖚𝖓𝖉 ☾

As it’s been peppered throughout, the Perez family is a competitive one. Adonis and Persephone haven’t gone a day without attempting to one-up each other in hopes of winning their father’s affections. With their mom married to a hot young twenty-something by the time the siblings were 8, their only parent’s attention means a lot. This is why Percy becomes Persephone around her father- a still gothy vampire who isn’t as outspoken. If he ever heard of her ideas about wealth redistribution, he’d give her a speech about how hard he worked to have the status and financial stability to support her constant shopping sprees, much less her existence. Even if she’s been almost fully supporting herself financially for the past three years with money she earns from her styling business. On top of their ideological differences, Adonis is the favorite. The oldest, the most loved, and the one who never hears an ounce of regret when the General speaks to him.

However, the father-daughter duo has their good moments, especially when it comes to battle strategy or the fact that he believes in equality (even if he doesn’t see how she believes it to be best enacted). He’s never doubted her abilities and often pushes her farther than Adonis. He has his humorous moments where one can see where the sarcasm Persephone brandishes boldly comes from. The two may not be especially close in terms of views, interests, or ability to impress each other, but they have incredibly similar personalities. It also means they butt-heads a lot. A give and take, unfortunately.

As for Adonis, they’re a bit of a mixed bag. Before their mother left, they were close. The Perez sibling-branded roughhousing was simply play-fighting. It became more serious once their father began to show his affection through compliments on someone’s form or how many points they could earn. The two of them became highly competitive. Same with the General, Adonis and Persephone have their moments. Now that they’re older, the fights between them have lessened and they avoid each other. Any problems between them are more so related to unresolved issues. That doesn’t mean they really have any conversations that matter though…

Let’s back up, for a minute, to look at the beginnings of the Perez family. A successful general and a powerful heiress, Kayden and Marianne Perez married on the eve of the birth of their first child. It wasn’t a conventional way to do things, considering the two weren’t exactly meant to be together. For one, the General is about as gay as Persephone is bisexual, and Marianne doesn’t like men past the age of thirty. Their marriage, although planned and anticipated, was sped up due to Adonis-incoming. While the first few years were peaceful, the General hadn’t exactly fully realized his sexuality before jumping into a marriage with two children and a wife. Marianne also hadn’t considered the world of opportunities that awaited her. Ultimately, their marriage turned sour and strained, ending mutually not long into Persephone’s life. Afterward, the General never considered remarrying despite having several significant others over the years. The Perez siblings don’t know any of them, of course, considering the General keeps each boyfriend far away from his children. While trying to protect his children and raise them with high ambitions and ability to succeed, he pushed them into a plethora of after school activities, throwing tutors and pounds of money onto his children’s’ problems instead of asking them what they needed. That brings us to modern-day Persephone, who became a goth, DIY queen in search of feeling more like herself and to get her father to notice her. Unfortunately, this didn’t work. At least they can both bond over their mutual frustration with Marianne…

Despite their differences, whenever Persephone is reprimanded for her defense of others, the General is right there to defend her.
