Bluebird was popular in school with a plan for her future all mapped out (involving leaving Shining Cove to study large animal veterinary nursing), but stymied as every other Chimera, has become a bit of a lost soul in recent years. Of course, living with a target on one's back is not easy- and having mortal friends move on to bigger, better things (one of her best friends is currently on track to become a primary dancer in the NYC Ballet) is gut-wrenching. Bluebird, utilising her Vampiric ability to influence animals, trains puppies for local dog-owners- and the occasional cat (she has a giant Maine Coon of her own)- in addition to running a tiny Coywolf sanctuary out of her childhood home. She may have inadvertantly created herself a pack of dedicated guardians this way, but she's not precisely upset about it. Taking care of/training animals is her one solace, after all. Bluebird is always accompanied by several or so impeccably-trained dogs around town- she's never seen without them. But, ultimately, there's always the bigger picture of moving somewhere with wide-open space where she can let her animals roam free and have horses and never have to look over her shoulder ever again. But it seems a distant dream, especially with the recent missing Chimeras. Bluebird feels safe surrounded by her pack, but in the end, she's beginning to believe she may never realise her dream of leaving Shining Cove behind.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

༓༓ For as long as Bluebird can remember, she’s wanted to run from Shining Cove. The pretty prison has trapped her since birth. It started small, with a lingering thought around the age of thirteen. Middle school was the origin of pre-teen angst, and her sullen, sloppily eye-liner looks made sure of that. Konnie and Eddie couldn’t help but worry about the young person’s anger. Why was she so disgruntled? Hadn’t they given her everything?

༓༓ She was sent to therapy, examined, and simply told that she was just a teenager. She was going to be unhappy from time to time. Growing pains, the doctor explained. So K and E let it go, buying Bluey the pop punk t-shirts from Hot Topic and the hair chalk (because no, Bluey-dear, you’re not touching your perfect black hair). Middle school passed by quickly, and the MCR rubber wristbands and the studded belt went away, but not the desire to run away.

༓༓ After three years of being ostracized, they realized that the escape they craved would not be accomplished with anger and scary eyebrow piercings. Bluebird became the exemplary daughter again. Popular, well-liked, amicable, and studious. She was a normal teenage girl by all accounts, and for a while, she had even convinced herself. She forgot that she was glamouring her ears everyday, that she could speak to animals, and that her very existence caused problems and risk. Even her fellow chimeras seemed normal in her head. Bluebird was happy that she made other people happy. Book closed.

༓༓ Unfortunately, that book couldn’t stay shut. Graduation came quick, and suddenly, Bluebird was alone. Willow, her best friend, left the region to pursue her prima ballerina dreams. Suddenly, they were adults, and the girl who she used to go to ballet classes with was gone. The kids she grew up with here poof! Gone. The only ones left were the chimeras. Part of Bluebird had thought they might’ve convinced their parents to let them off the leash. All she wanted was to attend a university in the state! She’d only be an hour away, and it’s her dream to take care of animals!

༓༓ There was no convincing the couple, and they knew the backlash they’d receive from the other chimera parents if they even told them they had considered it. That’s when Konrad and Eldrin tried to appease their young sapling. They made up plans for a beautiful attachment to be made to the side of the Greenhouse. Presenting them at the dinner table one night, they looked in hope as Bluebird examined the blueprints. It included an area for her animals, with plentiful space for more. In another attachment off the back, there was a small house. It would be hers, they explained. A guest house. Her house. They could even do online college and get their vet degree that way, and later change the space into a vet. Just stay with them. Stay in Shining Cove.

༓༓ She was nineteen when the plans were proposed. Almost three years have passed, and her parents still wait for a response, anxious. They know she could leave in the middle of the night, abandoning them forever. Because of this, Bluebird is known to receive plentiful gifts. In many ways, she’s still coddled and treated like a princess. They want to make their child happier than anything, but they fail to realize one thing. A cage is a cage.

༓༓ Bluey held off her answer, sure they would change their mind. Let them run free! Begging, pleading, everything. She was sure she had almost broken them when everything came crumbling down.

༓༓ Tending to her various pets, as always, Bluebird was standing outside in the wet with her wolves. It was time for last call, and she wanted to ensure everyone got their business done before they went to sleep for the evening. Aru wouldn’t stop nagging at their pajama pants, ripping small holes in them. Bluey had looked down for half a moment, telling him to stop, when a fisher cat jumped up and attacked her face. It dug into their hair, and they began to scream and attempt to rip the thing off her.

༓༓ That’s when Bluebird Ilyira-Swartbach grew a snout with a cold, drippy nose. Paws with claws the size of a pinky toe. A great, black furry mane. And a growl. She was a wolf, and she growled at the creature, backed by her four wolves. The fisher seemed to change its tune immediately, snapping into a defensive posture. When Bluey took a step forward, it turned and ran away into the night, screaming.

༓༓ When her fathers found her in the wolf pen, she was naked and her wolves were gathered around her. They thought she had been attacked by a person, and were even more certain of their concerns after hearing their story. Bluey insisted that it was just a fisher, and she had managed to scare it off with a snap of her fangs. Their eyebrows lifted at the thought of their daughter being able to shapeshift. Maybe she had just controlled the animal, confusing herself with her pets? Bluebird screamed at this idea, declaring that she couldn’t control the creature. This brought even more questions. The entire supernatural community in Shining Cove met to discuss this new update.

༓༓ Bluebird quite literally became the person who cried wolf. According to the adults around her and her fellow chimeras, they either lied about being a shapeshifter and had controlled the rabid beast with their mind or they were all in grave danger. With Konnie and Eddie of the opinion their daughter couldn’t be just now manifesting a new power, everyone looked at Bluey with suspicion. Eventually, Serah asked her to shapeshift in front of everyone. When Bluebird couldn’t, sniggers resounded amongst her peers. They were told to go home, get some sleep, and let the dilemma become a bad memory.

༓༓ That was a year ago. Since then, Bluebird has started online college at their fathers’ unrelenting requests pestering. They try to avoid discussion of the fisher incident. Even as the infant-like scream petrified their nightmares and the memory of their own rumbling as they responded continues to occupy her mind, they cannot bring themself to endure any more humiliation on the matter.

༓༓ Except, Bluey can shapeshift. Alone. In the quiet evenings on ‘the compound,’ as she calls it, she takes to the area slightly in the woods where she can dress down and practice the form. Her wolves join her, as they’re required for any woodsy expedition, and they play with them in their new form. The only dilemma is that Bluebird cannot seem to muster up the courage to do it in front of anyone. Still, she practices. One day, they will be successful. They’ll show their dads they can manage themself just fine.

༓༓ In the dream that lives in Bluebird’s mind, she is able to live out a life happily and away from the stifling world of Shining Cove. Her parents adore her partner, Puck, and they accept Bluey as she is. She is free, happy, and with all of her plentiful animals.

༓༓ If only it wasn’t just a fairytale.

    ꜰᴀᴛʜᴇʀ + ꜰ/ᴠ ༓ Eldrin "Eddie" Ilyria - Fae
ᴇxᴘᴀɴᴅᴇᴅ ɪɴғᴏ ༓ Known for his three New York Times Bestseller books, Eddie Ilyria is a well-respected member of Shining Cove's glistening citizenry. It's amazing that a Pulitzer-winning (Nominated, he corrects) author would reside in calm Shining Cove. He even manages to amaze his supernatural peers, considering he is able to create a life of surprising human quality and fame. He lucked out, truly, in realizing his identity three years after his baby girl was born. He even doubly lucked out when his husband also came out that same year. Fate played into the hands of the lovely couple, allowing Eddie to transition easily into both a human experience and out of the life he lived before arriving to Shining Cove. No one from Before would even recognize him now. Thankfully. Eldrin is known to sit in his greenhouse, paying fancy to his greenery, and writing at his ancient typewriter Konnie managed to salvage for him.

    ꜰᴀᴛʜᴇʀ + ꜰ/ᴠ ༓ Konrad "Konnie" Swartbach - Vampire
ᴇxᴘᴀɴᴅᴇᴅ ɪɴғᴏ ༓ Konnie Swartbach has lived a life worthy of immense tomes. He spent the first hundred or so years of his life, pretending. It was strange, especially now that he lives on the other end of it, to see how even immortality doesn't absolve one of the ideology they live in. He missed out on so much, prior to Eddie. He had managed to pass through the '70s, '80s, and almost the '90s unscorned and with his sexuality well shoved into the back of his glass closet. Then, Eddie came out and Konrad left. He disappeared for almost a month, leaving Eldrin with Bluebird. Then, coming back after living in the swampy woods of Oregon, he arrived on the doorstep of their New England home with his face muddied and tears marring the expanse of brown. "I'm sorry," he proclaimed, bending to his knees. He had always lacked a certain amount of social charm, leading his admission to be sort of comedic, and sort of terrifying. Except, Eddie let him into their house. He even let Konrad make it a home. So if you see a deadly looking drag queen running around the neighborhoods of Shining Cove, spouting out sassy one-liners in Germanic tongue, just know that Konnie Swartbach is, in fact, living his best life. #CarpeDiem.

ꜱɪʙʟɪɴɢ(ꜱ) ༓ Only Child and proud of it.

ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ꜰᴀᴍɪʟʏ ᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀ(ꜱ) ༓ Fur babies incoming
Bubbles - Maine Coon Cat - Known for refusing to eat anything not in his eating mat, even treats. Enjoys scratches under the chin and belly rubs. Would kin Garfield. Rests in Bluebird’s lap or is carried on her hip like a baby.

Moose - Coywolf - Bluey’s first Coywolf. About five years old. Raised with Blue since she rescued him off the side of the road and nursed him back to health. Affectionately called ‘mistaken roadkill’ by Konrad.
Kit - Coywolf - Moose’s sibling. Bluey found Kit on the edge of the Ilyira-Swartbach estate, trying to find Moose only hours after she had rescued the poor pup. Bluebird decided to keep the pair and rescue more after seeing the missing section of fur on Kit as the result of a hunting injury.
Nylah - Coywolf - Found by Konnie, ironically. He was on a hunting trip in Canada when he found Nylah. She was drawn to Konrad, and they followed him back to the cabin the family was staying at. He often talks about how petrified he was, and Bluebird still remembers the blurry phone call he gave her to tell her to meet him out front. Nylah saw Bluebird and walked up and gave her a big kiss.
Aru - Coywolf - Aru was a peculiar case, even for Bluebird. He was found while she was training Ms. Tully’s Great Dane, Hermes. Hidden in the snowy woods at the back of the property, he watched as Bluey taught the other animal. Rather, controlled and communicated with Hermes. He walked out, teeth snarling. He had pushed her to the ground before she calmed him down. They stared into each other’s eyes until Hermes began barking. Then, they went home, and he hasn’t left her side since.
Reginald - Tortoise - Known to get caught underneath chairs and tables in the house. Incredibly lazy, but he loves to watch television with Konnie near the fire. Eddie is always tripping over the poor guy, though.
Bob - Cashmere Lop Bunny - Perhaps the silliest of Bluebird’s naming choices, Bob is an incredibly rambunctious pet. She is always flopping around and escaping from her enclosure. Half of the reason why Eddie and Konnie want to make an area attached to the greenhouse for Bluey’s menagerie is because Bob won’t stop running around the house, inevitably dropping little ‘gifts’ as she does.
Tux - Dachshund - Was rescued after Bluebird saw he only had one eye. Has taken after the wolves and perpetually follows Bluey around. He firmly believes that he is a wolf, just like the rest of them. Everyone except Aru is inclined to let him believe so.

ᴅᴇꜱᴄʀɪᴘᴛɪᴏɴ ༓ *The Ilyira-Swartbach Estate expands three acres. It is a labor of love on Konnie and Eddie’s parts. All of the home improvement projects have been taken on by the couple, and they manage to turn their worn-down Colonial into a home worthy of Architectural Digest. The land is perfectly manicured and decorated with beautiful marble statues hidden underneath the foliage. Stones lead from the front of the house to the backyard through a substantial security gate. These go up to the Greenhouse, where Eddie Ilyira is most commonly found. Their home garden lives there, filled with peppers, carrots, and all sorts of other goodies. Amidst all the green, there is a fenced off area for the coywolves to play around in. This is primarily for poop purposes, considering Konnie hates having to pick up after the wolves. Konrad nurtures the rest of the property, taking to the interior where most things are state of the art. Where has Konrad gotten all this money? Why, by building his own interior design company! And totally not by being an immortal who’s fantastic at investing. His house has to be of the most high quality, and it is an exemplary model for his true work. The locals of Shining Cove often attend his numerous parties and leave with his business cards. The house is filled with charm, with art and knick-knacks specific to the family. Including Bluebird’s homemade finger paintings and macaroni necklaces! *
