๐“ป๐“ฎ๐“น๐“พ๐“ฝ๐“ช๐“ฝ๐“ฒ๐“ธ๐“ท โง Thankfully, Eugenia Trowbridgeโ€™s reputation does not extend to the point of tainting her daughterโ€™s. Georgiana has never been seen on the London scene, except once or twice when she was a small girl. Of course, many have come to the countryside to visit with the Trowbridges, though usually on business instead of pleasure. Thus, few girls of Georgianaโ€™s age have had the opportunity to fully get to know her. Thankfully, the ladies of the ton who have seen the sole Trowbridge lady tell the rest of the ton all about the delightful eccentricity of Georgie. While she may lack a certain number of manners, her youth allows her the privilege of denying certain aspects of womanhood. However, many women may begin to change their tune about Georgiana once they realize their sons will have the opportunity to pine over a girl they think simply too young to be coming out. Perhaps what theyโ€™re most afraid of it their daughters losing to a girl like Georgiana.

๐“น๐“ฎ๐“ป๐“ผ๐“ธ๐“ท๐“ช๐“ต๐“ฒ๐“ฝ๐”‚ โง Georgiana is often referred to as an eccentric girl. She often spouts off theories about infamous London crimes or occupies the entire dinner tableโ€™s attention with her ideas of being an independent woman. Often, people discount her and her fantasies, even if she has the drive and means to make them a reality. However, when people arenโ€™t writing Georgiana off, they are commenting on her poor manners. She can be terribly blunt at times, sometimes to the point of rudeness. They seem to forget that she grew up around all boys, making her just as confident as they are. Many of her negative qualities are ones her brothers are praised for: independence, strong-will, witty humor, etc. What precisely makes Georgiana so different that her better qualities are the ones she hates? Well, at least her kindness seems to get her nowhere, particularly in the friend department. When she quiets herself in a conversation, people outside her family tend to appreciate this, particularly if she has nothing useful to add. However, Georgie doesnโ€™t like being quiet, and she doesnโ€™t understand why she has to compromise herself to have friends outside of her brothers.

Solomon used to be full of life. Perhaps it is just age that has gotten to him, but something's changed. He holds Georgiana to a new standard, one unfounded before and a little unfair. He raised her to believe herself just as equal as her brothers and to follow her ambitions, and yet, he's begun to scoff at her proclivity towards her detective novels and her ambitions to become a free woman. He's turned sour.

When the family scandal first hit, Eugenia was the one to blame. She married Solomon to avoid further judgement and because he was a gentleman through and through. He gave her what she always wanted- kids- but it wasn't enough. Soon enough, old habits came back to haunt her and she left only a few months after Georgiana was born. As such, it's no surprise that the family has erased almost all remnants of her, barring her garden.

As the eldest, one would like that Junior would have married by now. Yet, he remains a dutiful bachelor, enjoying his single life. There are certain rumors, given he's the only Trowbridge to enter London before Georgiana's coming out. He's known to frequent the local pubs and taverns, chatting with Dol Beauchamp at her family's tavern. Though he swears their interactions are purely friendly, people ruminate otherwise, despite the fact that they've been friends for years.

Jack Trowbridge is a precocious child and Georgie's favorite brother. Not that she has favorites, but if she did, it'd be James. He's optimistic and overly kind, always sweet and supportive of Georgiana. He often can be found in the garden, tending to his mother's flowers. Her disappearance hit Jack the hardest, likely because he was her favorite.

๐“น๐“ป๐“ธ๐“ฟ๐“ฒ๐“ญ๐“ฎ๐“ญ โง A new girl has appeared on the horizon of our fair season this year! Her name and family are known well around London, but they have not been seen for quite some time. It was rumored that her family retired to their country home, heads hung low in the scandal of decades past, but no one could ever quite confirm this rumor. In fact, her family continued to hold favor with our dear departed Queen despite their quick and questionable escape from the public eye โ€” and though their youngest and most eligible daughter is more prone to frolicking in the woods and reading detective novels than curtseying in fancy dresses, she has obliged her Crown Princessโ€™s dearest request. Princess Caroline, dismayed by the growing popularity of The Society Papers, has asked the Trowbridge family to send their eligible daughter, Georgiana, as an undercover-type agent in order to help the Crown Princess unveil Lady Whistledown. Hoping to find something else to do with her life other than marry, and fearing that denying her Princess might do something terrible to her reputation, Georgiana agreed, upon one condition. If she successfully completes this operation and unmasks the scoundrel known as Lady Whistledown, her Princess is to give her special leave to pursue a career as her Ladyshipโ€™s personal investigator.

๐“ฎ๐”๐“ฝ๐“ฎ๐“ท๐“ญ๐“ฎ๐“ญ โง The fate of the Trowbridge reputation was set in stone long before Georgiana was conceived. As history seems to repeat itself, itโ€™s no surprise that Eugeniaโ€™s first season was when the family name began to cloud. All love triangles end in some form of tragedy, but no one expected that the Queenโ€™s friend would leave London only to never return. Almost 26 years prior, Eugenia was caught in both Solomonโ€™s web along with that of Mr. Cookeโ€™s {if it is okay to work Josiah Cooke into things, that is}. People noticed that Solomon Jr. certainly doesnโ€™t look quite like the rest of the Trowbridges, though no one will dare tell Solomon Sr. to his face. However, everyone knows that the unexpected pregnancy at the hand of Mr. Cookeโ€™s doing is the result of Eugeniaโ€™s quick marriage to Solomon. When their speedy wedding was denied for at least two months, they opted to have Eugenia return home and marry in the countryside, away from the prying eyes of their peers and elders. However, despite the troubling scandal about Eugeniaโ€™s infidelity and Solomonโ€™s self-destruction by marrying a compromised woman, people did not expect the family of one of the Queenโ€™s closest friends to never return together. Until now, that is.

The early years of Solomon and Eugeniaโ€™s marriage were rocky, to be sure, but it took the return of Mr. Cooke to the countryside (given Eugenia and him were childhood friends, it was no surprise that he would eventually return to the general area her family and Solomonโ€™s familyโ€™s properties resided in. Cooke visited her only weeks after Georgiana was born. Two days after having tea in the drawing room, Eugenia disappeared and no on amongst the ton saw her again.

Naturally, Solomon was devastated along with Georgieโ€™s brothers. Solomon had given up his reputation just to save Eugenia was destitution and the destruction of her title. In the end, he lost her anyway and she left him to raise a little girl. He knew how to handle their boys. Eugenia, despite her faults, was a fantastic mother and Solomon learned from her how to respect children while still helping them make the correct decisions for themselves. He was a kind father, but he had never been taught what to do with little girls? He knew Georgiana couldnโ€™t be brought up the same way, especially if he wanted her to marry off into a better family name. Yet, he was at a loss. Therefore, it is no surprise that he defaulted to rearing her the same way he did with her brothers.

Georgiana was given the same freedoms, the same teachings, and even enthused about masculine interests. While there were things she did that her father purposefully made her learn so as she wasnโ€™t completely improper, such as ballet and the harp, but those were still things she adored. Georgie was brought up to take care of herself, to formulate her own interests despite what propriety might dictate, and to ultimately stick up for herself. Thus, the plucky girl most know today was created.

Yet, as the years away from Eugenia reach the 20s, Solomon begins to see too much of his former wife in Georgiana. She follows her own path too much, and while that might appeal to some men, he worries for whoever sheโ€™ll break their heart. What if she ends up alone? He shouldnโ€™t have let her think she could make it in this world without someone. Georgiana doesnโ€™t care for marriage, and it angers him. He canโ€™t provide for her forever, and she needs to become a woman. Enough of this foolish thinking, he says. Itโ€™s only because heโ€™s under the impression that Georgiana wants to return for altruistic purposes that heโ€™s taken to call her Ms. Independent affectionately again.

Maybe Solomon's distaste is because Georgiana wants to find her mother, attributing her passion for sleuth-hood to this. Or perhaps its because her parents' marriage was such a disaster that she's turned off towards the concept marriage, especially when she feels at fault for her mother's disappearance.

The Queen has always kept the Trowbridge family in high favor. It would be no shock to the ton if the Princess thought similarly. Additionally, what better way to bring Georgiana closer to Lady Whistledown than by making her the focus of her attention? Not only that, this is Georgieโ€™s first year out. Sheโ€™s yet to be marred by any scandals, and while people may find her eccentric, she is a beauty to behold by all. Her coming out may not be the most anticipated, but it certainly is the one bound to garner attention.
Frankly, it would be counter-intuitive for Georgiana to be Lady Whistledown, but this is precisely why she should be Lady Whistledown. There is no detective work required of Georgie, and all she would have to do it work up enough of a storm to pin it on someone else. Someone who makes more sense to be Lady Whistledown. It wouldnโ€™t be very difficult at all to trick Princess Caroline, and Georgiana is such a sleuth that she could easily gather information on every competing lady and dubious gentleman.
