โŠฑ Adults have a tendency to miscount Vi. Her peers, not as much, but theyโ€™re inclined to believe she โ€œisnโ€™t as bad as people say she isโ€ given her naturally sweet demeanor. She doesnโ€™t come across as a viper lying in the grass, but rather a kind-hearted rich girl who has more of a passion for fashion than achieving valedictorian {which couldnโ€™t be farther from the truth if you jump down to her secrets}.

โŠฑ No one could ever say that Violet isnโ€™t passionate, almost to the point of headstrongness, but itโ€™s to her benefit. She believes in being the mastermind of one's own success, and she won't let anyone "get in [her] fucking way." Despite her seeming conservativeness, Violet is quite the feminist. Sheโ€™s often quoting Simone de Beauvoir, Anne Brontั‘, and Audra Lorde. Vi wants the world in the palm of her hand, and sheโ€™ll be damned if anyone stands in her way. Bฬถuฬถtฬถ ฬถsฬถhฬถeฬถ ฬถcฬถoฬถuฬถlฬถdฬถnฬถ'tฬถ ฬถbฬถeฬถ ฬถtฬถhฬถaฬถtฬถ ฬถvฬถiฬถcฬถiฬถoฬถuฬถsฬถโ€ฆSome would call this excessive, but she calls it passion. Some might call her way of success manipulative, but she calls it necessary. Of course, no one can confirm this, they just suspect her true nature beyond the shiny exterior of bubble-gum smacks and Crest white-strip smiles.

โŠฑ V shows people how she feels through actions. Sheโ€™s incredibly good at giving a hug when she senses people need it. Sheโ€™s loyal, but this doesnโ€™t happen easily, which is why she holds grudges so easily. Thereโ€™s a lot she expects out of those she loves, barring perhaps her father, but she gives back just as much, if not more. However, that isnโ€™t to assume that Violet isnโ€™t fantastic at small talk. Sheโ€™s quite the conversationalist, and she used to do Debate in middle school. Vi can squeeze in two hundred words a minute and somehow she makes sense.

โŠฑ Easily jealous, V gets attached quite easily. This can be a good thing since it shows her undying loyalty to those she loves, but it tends to get her in trouble more than anything. With her inability to move on from something peacefully, her many flirtationships often end in the boys mysterious being replaced by pigs or simply transformed into monsters. Her friendships also have the capacity to suffer too. Not to mention the amount of times sheโ€™s gaslighted peopleโ€ฆand the amount of times sheโ€™s been called out publicly for it.

โŠฑ Speaking of abusive tactics, that whole ambition V has? Yeah, she tends to get a little carried away, especially when it comes to human interaction. Half of the conversations people have with the social butterfly usually are only happening because sheโ€™s working an angle. Whether itโ€™s for gossip, a hookup, notes, or ฬถtฬถoฬถ ฬถcฬถuฬถrฬถsฬถeฬถ ฬถyฬถoฬถuฬถ, Violet has a certain magic around her that allows her to get away with it- for the most part. She lost countless semi-friend back home because of this, but she finally got the balance right for {REDACTED}. According to her, Vi doesnโ€™t even realize sheโ€™s doing it until the person has already left. She just wants to be in control. All. The. Time.

โŠฑ As a massive flirt, sheโ€™s always got some guy on the tip of her finger. She didnโ€™t use to be this way, but something about being in an unknown place empowered her. Made her bold. It was as though the glowing-effect she has amped up a notch, and she knew how to use it for once. Instead of repelling people, it attracted them. Made her desirable. Or something like that. It isnโ€™t as though she tries, though. She just ends up making out with one dude after talking to him for a total of ten minutes. Without. Even. Trying. Hell, half the time she canโ€™t even recall the conversation they had. She just knows it wasnโ€™t memorable enough to stick with him for the long haul. Oฬถrฬถ ฬถmฬถaฬถyฬถbฬถeฬถ ฬถiฬถtฬถ'sฬถ ฬถtฬถhฬถeฬถ ฬถnฬถoฬถtฬถ-sฬถoฬถ-sฬถuฬถbฬถtฬถlฬถeฬถ ฬถcฬถoฬถmฬถmฬถiฬถtฬถmฬถeฬถnฬถtฬถ ฬถiฬถsฬถsฬถuฬถeฬถsฬถ. Or the fear of rejection. Maybe add a dash of fear for how getting attached so someone might turn out. Who knows!

โŠฑ V easily lies to herself about her motivations and her strengths. To some extent, she doesnโ€™t fully understand her capacity as a manipulator. Or her narcissistic tendencies. However, thereโ€™s the other part of her that pretends these blatant flaws donโ€™t exist when sheโ€™s fully aware of them. Thankfully, not everyone has completely caught on to how self-aware she is or else sheโ€™d be friendless. They just assume sheโ€™s a spoiled rich girl like everyone else in this school.

โŠฑ Managing a full schedule, starring in play after play, practicing daily with the cheer squad, and mฬถaฬถkฬถiฬถnฬถgฬถ ฬถhฬถeฬถrฬถsฬถeฬถlฬถfฬถ ฬถtฬถhฬถeฬถ ฬถlฬถeฬถaฬถdฬถeฬถrฬถ ฬถoฬถfฬถ ฬถeฬถvฬถeฬถrฬถyฬถtฬถhฬถiฬถnฬถgฬถ has its tolls, but Violet is always full of energy. Sheโ€™s actually an insomniac, scoping out the school grounds well past midnight for no reason other than. She feels she should? Something about the power that courses through her, the way it feels like a rapid river draining into her heart with every beat, wonโ€™t allow her to rest. Or think straight. This is also the source of the numerous blonde moments she has (perhaps another reason why people donโ€™t see her as calculating as she actually is).

โŠฑ Violet has an insatiable lust for power and the ability to lead. She believes she wouldnโ€™t be abusive (just a little convincing to โ€œget things done!โ€), and she could be the difference between a mediocre show/routine and a memorable one. In Georgia, she was often overlooked in this department, despite her abilities. Everyone underestimates her back home, including her father.

โŠฑ With her insomnia comes the impulsive bravery! Vi is unafraid of the dark, spiders, knives, murders, the Boogey-man, you name it. Sheโ€™s pretty immune to it all! She believes in them all (including the Boogey-man. Donโ€™t laugh!), but sheโ€™s confident in her ability to fight them off, especially if she has a team behind her (particularly one that sheโ€™s the front runner of).

โŠฑ Given that her father is an Elon Musk rip-off born ten years earlier than the Tesla-mogul, Violet is no stranger to wealth and wacky parenting. Her father sent her to St. Roque Gonzalez de Santa Cruz, where she largely parented herself with her mother visiting every few months. Her father never seemed to make it.

โŠฑ As Violet got older, her father grew more distasteful of her. She was never going to live up to the standards Mr. Williams held her to (What standards? To be quite honest, Vi has never quite figured this part out about her characterโ€™s backstory...Hence why she doesnโ€™t bring up her dad much). Around this time, her mother came out as gay and divorced her father. Needless to say, Violet took the brunt of her father's wrath, especially with his new-found weekly visits to St. Roque Gonzalez de Santa Cruz. Although he has never physically harmed her, his shouts and accusations are enough to deal with on top of the unrealistic expectations she's held to at St. Roque.
โŠฑ Once she graduated 8th grade, Mr. Williams sent his only daughter to {REDACTED}, where supposedly she'd "learn some morals unlike [her] mother." {REDACTED} became a nice reprieve from her father, who was more involved in her life with her mother out of the picture. Since her time there, her father has never visited her.

โŠฑ At {REDACTED}, she joined the Cheer Squad and the Drama Club. She has aspirations of becoming an award-winning, Broadway actress, but she'll settle for the Dallas Cowboys. She's known for her leadership qualities, given she's a total Rachel Berry and insists on heading up everything from the arrangement of the flyers to the score of the next musical. There's little she won't put herself as the front-woman of, and most of the time she's successful.

    ๐’œ๐’ธ๐“‰๐“Š๐’ถ๐“ ๐ต๐’ถ๐’ธ๐“€๐‘”๐“‡๐‘œ๐“Š๐“ƒ๐’น

    {TW: mentions of blood, verbal and physical abuse}

โŠฑ Violet Abigail Williams had a normal life, living in rural Georgia with her stereotypical preacher father and Miss Honey From Matilda-esq mom. She was a darling baby with adorable chubby legs. Growing up, she remained a honey-sweet toddler, then kid. Her father grew bitter with the years, and her mother lost a little bit of the luster in hair eyes. Theyโ€™d married young, and the shine on their love divided by half with each year that passed. Her mom waited until she was in fourth grade before she escaped her father, leaving his wrath for her, though that wasnโ€™t the intention.

โŠฑ Violet spent the next few years growing up far before her time. Her father, instead of using his wife as a punch bag, turned to his daughter. He saw her mother in Vi, but she never understood this. She just knew there was something unholy about her, at least thatโ€™s what her father made her believe. It didnโ€™t help that her friends seemed to drop like flies, leaving her once they overheard their parents discuss the truer nature of her motherโ€™s abandonment. Violet was the wrong thing in the equation. The aberration. The stranger.

โŠฑ However, that didnโ€™t stop people from being ๐’ถ๐“‰๐“‰๐“‡๐’ถ๐’ธ๐“‰๐‘’๐’น to Violet. There was always something irresistible about her, same with her mother. It runs in the family. They just didnโ€™t want to know Vi beyond a conversation or two that satisfied their curiosity. This just worsened with the coming years.

โŠฑ For an unknown reason, Viโ€™s one ex (whom she dated in secret for a week in 7th grade) woke up the morning after he broke her heart to find his body trapped in that of a smelly, pink pig. Unfortunately, he ended up becoming sausage. Everyone else assumes Jason ran away or was kidnapped, but Violet has always suspected that the pig was him. Granted, hearing the pigโ€™s voice in her head sort of confirmed this

โŠฑ Oh. And letโ€™s not talk about the girl on the swimming team who appeared from the waters at a meet with a full head of snake for hair. People never connected it to her, but perhaps they didnโ€™t know about their brief tryst during 8th grade. Even Vi isnโ€™t quite sure if it was her, except for a strange recollection of breaking into the school the night before, traversing the border of the pool, and tossing a pigโ€™s heart into it. Huh.

โŠฑ Like Veelas from Harry Potter, Violet glows. For time to time. It isnโ€™t anything extremely noticeable (at least not in an Edward Cullen way), but if she were to point it out, someone would say something. It didnโ€™t really start though until after Jason was grinded up. Odd. Unfortunately, she was an early bloomer, so it isnโ€™t as though she can tell if people stare at her more than usual.

โŠฑ Though she isnโ€™t exactly aware of her abilities, she knows, like most things at {REDACTED}, thereโ€™s something off about her. Iฬถtฬถ ฬถdฬถoฬถeฬถsฬถnฬถโ€™tฬถ ฬถhฬถeฬถlฬถpฬถ ฬถtฬถhฬถaฬถtฬถ ฬถsฬถhฬถeฬถ ฬถhฬถaฬถsฬถnฬถโ€™tฬถ ฬถsฬถlฬถeฬถpฬถtฬถ ฬถfฬถoฬถrฬถ ฬถmฬถoฬถrฬถeฬถ ฬถtฬถhฬถaฬถnฬถ ฬถtฬถhฬถrฬถeฬถeฬถ ฬถhฬถoฬถuฬถrฬถsฬถ ฬถaฬถ ฬถnฬถiฬถgฬถhฬถtฬถ ฬถiฬถnฬถ ฬถsฬถiฬถxฬถ ฬถyฬถeฬถaฬถrฬถsฬถ. Something keeps her awake at night, feeling of constant adrenaline pushing her to explore the forest late at night when no oneโ€™s awake. To steal a pot from the kitchens, start a bonfire, roast some herbs, dance amongst the trees, and speak an ancient language she doesn't recall learning.

โŠฑ However, despite Violetโ€™s insistence that sheโ€™s a normal, Christian girl with a little bit of the Devilโ€™s spirit hanging around, she canโ€™t lie to herself about the events that led her to the scholarship at {REDACTED}.

โŠฑ On a steamy, July night, her father was at it again. Fulfilling every clichรฉ concerning preachers, he took his alcoholism and abuse to new heights. Coming home from a friendโ€™s sleepover (and by friend, her motherโ€™s, but Harrold Williams was about to discover this for himself), Violet found her father seemingly stone-cold sober. He was set before the hot plate, grilling up some steaks, with his mouth set in line so thin Vi couldnโ€™t make it out. They passed some pleasantries, before she asked what was for dinner. This set him off. He wouldnโ€™t stop talking about how much of a quote-on-quote โ€œlying whoreโ€ she was. Oh, and a plethora of other slurs (some slut-shaming, some homphobic. You know- a good mix). He knew everything about her frequent visits with her mom (because letโ€™s get real, most people thought Vi was a little intimidating given her father stands at the pulpit every Wednesday and Saturday and she literally glows with beauty. She didnโ€™t have any friends in middle school). In the midst of his anger, he brought up her kiss with the swim team girl (who outed her a day before Statesโ€ฆ Huh.), calling her every name under the sun. Tears streamed down her face as he grappled her shirt, pulling her towards him, and reaching for the bottle of Jack Daniels that had a permanent resting place on the kitchen counter. In an instant, it crashed into the side of her head, but it didnโ€™t have the satisfaction of splintering into a million shards. Revealing his drunken state, her father stumbled backwards, letting her and the bottle go. Then the bottle crashed to the floor, and a shocked Violet felt her eyes flood to it.

โŠฑ Thatโ€™s when the red-hot lightning began to burn through her veins.

โŠฑ And the glass shards levitated.

โŠฑ And all Violet could feel was the bow breaking on the years of abuse sheโ€™d suffered since her mother left in search of her true self. Her tears dried up, the blood began to flow back into her head, and the goose egg that was forming already began to fade.

โŠฑ She glowed more than ever before.

โŠฑ And then the bottleโ€™s pieces pierced every piece of flesh, clothing, and bone of Harold Williams they could get their metaphorical hands on.

โŠฑ The glowing faded immediately after, but even today, she feels a similar level of golden energy in her veins. Realizing what sheโ€™d done, Violet ran over to her father, the betrayal giving way to the sick sense of loyalty and love she still felt for him. Similar to her swim team girl, this part only comes back in dreams or brief moments of recollection throughout the day. She knows she couldnโ€™t find his heartbreak, began to speak in that same indiscernible language, placed her hands on his mangled cheeks, and rested her forehead against.

โŠฑ The next day, as her father laid sleeping as his wounds healed 300x the speed they would normally take, an officer knocked on the door. Claiming her father was on a revival trip, Officer Brown informed her of her motherโ€™s passing. However, Violet wasnโ€™t very shocked. Sheโ€™d known something was off, and perhaps still stunned by the night before, she made sense of it. Even if she still canโ€™t piece together how her mother died of a heart attack when sheโ€™d just ran her fifth marathon with her wife, Carole. It didnโ€™t help her motherโ€™s last words to her were โ€œYouโ€™re on a path, and I canโ€™t help you.โ€ Touching Viโ€™s newly freckled cheeks (theyโ€™d just spent the entire day at the beach), Daisy Williams kissed her daughterโ€™s forehead, whispering โ€œ๐ผโ€™๐“‚ ๐“ˆ๐‘œ ๐’ฝ๐’ถ๐“…๐“…๐“Ž ๐ผ ๐‘”๐‘œ๐“‰ ๐“‰๐‘œ ๐“๐‘œ๐“‹๐‘’ ๐“Ž๐‘œ๐“Š ๐’ท๐‘’๐’ป๐‘œ๐“‡๐‘’ ๐“Ž๐‘œ๐“Š๐“‡ ๐“๐’พ๐’ป๐‘’ ๐’ท๐‘’๐‘”๐’พ๐“ƒ๐“ˆ.โ€ Violet kissed her motherโ€™s cheek, a little unsettled by the affection she was showing. They had reconnected for the first time that summer after the four years of silence since her mother ran away with Carole. Running into the house, Violet had shut her life on her mom for the last time. Perhaps thatโ€™s why she canโ€™t stop reliving that beach day in her dreams.

โŠฑ After the fateful July day, Harold left his daughter alone, nursing his wounded pride in his room or at the church. There were quite a few sermons about shedding the Devilโ€™s control in the coming weeks, but Violet didnโ€™t attend them. She decided religion wasnโ€™t for her. On the Sunday after the ๐ธ๐“‹๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰, where her father spoke on the religious themes in The Exorcist (which unsettled multiple attendees, considering his spiderweb of scars that lined his face and hands), Vi was trying to not think about what happened only a few days earlier. She sat, scouring the Internet for anything but possible reasons why the things that happened. Her window was open, letting in the sunlight and fresh breeze that aired out the ever-present smell of whiskey that tainted every room in the small ranch. In the wind, a flier flew in, landing on her keyboard. Of course, it was one for {REDACTED}.

โŠฑ On the back of the flier, there was an announcement about the offerings of scholarships, particularly one for incoming freshmen. As though an answer to her thoughts, she felt her heart swell with hope. ๐’ฎ๐’ฝ๐‘’ ๐’ฝ๐’ถ๐’น ๐’ถ ๐“Œ๐’ถ๐“Ž ๐‘œ๐“Š๐“‰. It was only a matter of time before Harold was back as king, and who knows what he would do to her. Luck of the supernatural kind, as thatโ€™s what she hoped it all was but knew it wasnโ€™t, wasnโ€™t going to save her for long, and she didnโ€™t have her mom to save her. With the due date for the online application due in just a week, Violet utilized her insomnia for something productive and worked night and day on her application. With only two weeks left before September, she received her acceptance to {REDACTED}.

โŠฑ With a new-found hope, Vi set to crafting the perfect wardrobe, intent on making a new start at {REDACTED}. She was in for a helluva surprise once she found herself amongst the weird and wild. Everyone felt like her, though in different ways. It was like everyone was on the same ley line, but they occupied different peaks. This was even more so confirmed when she joined the Cheer Squad. All the girls are a little wonky, and she loves them all dearly for it, even if they find her tendencies secretly annoyingโ€ฆ and maybe just as abusive as her father. Still, she canโ€™t help but be drawn to theatricsโ€ฆ or maybe itโ€™s that powerful feeling that subsists within her. Whatever it is, Violet never wants to be on the bottom again.

    โ•โ•โ•โ•โ•โ• ๐’๐„๐‚๐‘๐„๐“๐’ โ•โ•โ•โ•โ•โ•

โŠฑ Well, everything in the โ€œActual Backgroundโ€ section is a well-kept secret by Violet. Except maybe she let a few things slip to people when she gets a little too tipsy from her favorite wine coolers.

โŠฑ Every Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break (unless with one of the Cheer Squad girls), and summer, Violet goes to Caroleโ€™s. She hasnโ€™t seen her dad since the summer before freshman year. Something sheโ€™s still terrified to do, but she might have to because of his recent DUI has threatened his status as preacher and a father. And her freedom from him.

    |=โŠฑ She hopes of having a wild love affair, even though sheโ€™s terrified of intimacy.

โŠฑ Once a month, Violet has night terrors. Her roomate {Which, if youโ€™re interested in being that gal, please PM me!} knows, but that's why she escapes to the forest every night, even though itโ€™s forbidden. For some reason, the security cameras have never caught her. Perhaps it's because the plush greenery seems to call her name in a language only she understands, drawing her to the tallest, thickest tree centered in the middle of the forest. They call themselves ฮตฯฯ…ฯƒฮฏฮฒฮท. Corruptus. They and Vi usually chit-chat about her comings and goings, but sometimes they speak on the adrenaline-like feeling. Theyโ€™ve never explained it or offered any explanation for how theyโ€™re a literal talking tree but Violet usually canโ€™t remember much of their conversations anyways.

โŠฑ Sheโ€™s bisexual, and if it wasnโ€™t obvious, Swim Team Girl outed her to her father. Itโ€™s something that caused the burn scars on her back. The ones right in the center, where her father burned his cigar through her favorite blouse. Violet had kissed Swim Team Girl (whoโ€™s actually named Jennifer, but she refuses to ever speak her name again) a few days before, and sheโ€™d worn her poppy-printed, peasant blouse with the tassels sheโ€™d just watched a YouTube video to figure out how to do. Sheโ€™d sewn it herself, using her grandmotherโ€™s old machine (which she still carries with her). Coming home from school, where everyone else has already heard about and was calling her a freak, Violet was met with her fatherโ€™s sullenness, similar to the ๐’ฉ๐’พ๐‘”๐’ฝ๐“‰ ๐’ฒ๐’ฝ๐’พ๐’ธ๐’ฝ ๐’ฎ๐’ฝ๐’ถ๐“๐“ ๐’ฉ๐‘œ๐“‰ ๐ต๐‘’ ๐’ฉ๐’ถ๐“‚๐‘’๐’น. Heโ€™d gotten a call from Jenniferโ€™s mother. The rest you can piece together from there.

โŠฑ Given all of that, sheโ€™s never kissed a girl since and, quite frankly, sheโ€™s terrified to. Even though she looks at plenty of girls with bountiful affection, Violet knows better than to trust herself. Or anyone else.

โŠฑ She owns a bible, which allows many people to assume sheโ€™s Christian. Really, sheโ€™s agnostic given all thatโ€™s happening to her. However, sheโ€™s kind of earned her branding as the clichรฉ southern girl.

โŠฑ Ashamed of her accent, or perhaps hating the sound of her motherโ€™s voice every time she speaks, she tries to rid herself of the slight drawl she has. Not necessarily a secret, but no one really understands why she slips in and out of one.

โŠฑ Her little trips to the forest at night are well-kept under the radar, but some people might have seen something here and there

โŠฑ As a short, seemingly flexible girl who wants to be at the top of everything, many of the Cheer girls were surprised when Violet took her placement as a base with zero protest. She got quite a few shocked faces which is exactly why she did it. Okay, not actually. She genuinely believes in a "team" even if she's not always at the top. However, don't get it twisted. She won't let herself be on the bottom for long.

โŠฑ Her favorite form of love is hugs and cuddles. It's probably because she hasn't been hugged by her father since she was in third grade. Needless to say, Violet has major daddy issues.

โŠฑ After getting accepted into {REDACTED}, Violet proceeded to create her own set of rip-off couture wardrobe. She woke up one morning to find a complete collection of designer earrings after dreaming of her various outfits, especially the things she wouldn't be able to sew together.

โŠฑ After receiving the dream earrings, Violet pierced her own ears Parent Trap-style. She didn't scream, though (or at least that's what she'll tell you).

โŠฑ Speaking of sewing, Violet won a 4-H contest for "Best Outfit Made of Unconventional Material" when she was in 4th grade. She didn't stop sewing after that.

โŠฑ One of her other talents include her fantastic baking abilities (for some reason, her cookies, cakes, and everything in between are always addictive. Granted, sometimes things go wrong and people end up with horns, but they usually go away once they have their morning constitution).

โŠฑ Her preferred area to study in is the nearby gardens, by the statue of assumably Aphrodite. It's gotten so bad that she even has a hammock set up.

โŠฑ Tea FIEND. If you want to makeup with Violet (which, why would you?), get her a fancy tea from the town. Bonus points if you can guess which type she wants!

โŠฑ Carole's home is in the middle of butt-f!ck nowhere- a fact Carole refuses to address or change. Because of this, Violet has a plethora of hobbies she dabbles in. She loves reading, knitting, baking (ofc!), swimming, taking Pepper, Carole's dog, on a run. Sure, sometimes they end up having the odd conversation where it feels like Pepper is actually speaking back, but she assumes it's an overactive imagination coming into play given Carole lives in complete seclusion.

โŠฑ Violet always needs to have something to do with her hands, and she can often be found working on some needlepoint or knitting project in class. Of course, there aren't many close friends for her to give her plethora of scarves or embroidered flowers, so she usually hands them out to people when she sees they're having a bad day. See! Vi isn't a complete manipulative b!tch!

    โŠฑ Obsessed with getting into her dream school, Vi actually works really hard in school though she pretends she doesn't. She has daddy's money, of course! Except she doesn't, but ya know. Even if she had money, she'd need to work her a!s off to get into Julliard, so it isn't a complete lie {Hence why it's here in her headcanons}

โŠฑ Every year, around Easter, Vi uses a payphone in town to call her dad. She hears his voice pick up on the opposite line, but she always hangs up before speaking to him. Then, she usually heads into Claus' for a tea. Now, it's La Bella Vita, where the tea isn't as good.

โŠฑ Her favorite color is deep forest green, almost black, but she wears a lot of pastels and pinks because they match her complexion and aspired aesthetic better.

โŠฑ Secretly dreams of having a healthy relationship with at least one person, but she knows it probably won't ever happen all-things-considering. She's just too self-sabotaging and controlling for that to ever happen. At some point, Violet's completely ready to accept her fate as a gorgeous spinster. At least people have always told her she looks fantastic in a little black dress!

โŠฑ Absolutely hates it when someone calls her crazy or tells her to calm down. It's rare that Violet loses composure, and anyone who ever tries to tell her to not feel her emotions obviously doesn't understand how rarely she lets herself feel upset. At least not obviously. If you're in a fight with her, she doesn't respond well to yelling either. She just wishes arguments could happen in a way that's a little more civilized.

โŠฑ One of her little quirks is listening to her music through the YouTube app instead of paying for Spotify Premium/Apple Music like any normal person would. She's constantly charging her phone with one of the outlets in the back because her phone battery is always drained.

โŠฑ Slight to major John Mulaney stan. He's never failed to make her giggle!

โŠฑ A total dog person. She hasn't met one she doesn't smile at and felt compelled to cuddle.

โŠฑ Knows how to pick a lock with just a bobby pin due to too many hours spent on YouTube + out of necessity.

โŠฑ Secretly wishes she could go braless without people noticing/caring or feeling naked. She simply likes the look! Too bad it doesn't fit the aesthetic she crafts so carefully.

โŠฑ Her love language is handmade gifts. If you receive a surprise present from her, she's probably trying to tell you she loves you {platonic or otherwise}.

โŠฑ Drinking diet coke like water and hates it when people point it out to her. Especially when they tell her to drink something other than caffeine... like water?

โŠฑ Has a knock-off hydro flask decorated in calico critter, vine references-related, and just all things pink stickers

โŠฑ Elle Woods is her inspiration and personal hero. A ditzy girl whose perseverance and determination get her to Harvard, where she reveals herself to be independent and fantastic at anything she puts her mind to- what's there not to love? However, Vi's still just as capable of going full Carrie on these bitches. Except slightly less murder-y.

โŠฑ Digs the opposites-attract narrative in her favorite rom coms that she just swoons over! I mean Elle ends up with a guy who's a total professional, straight-laced guy... why can't I have that?

โŠฑ Has a pair of cross earrings her mother gave her after getting her ears pierced the summer she passed. She guards them with her life, even if the gold paint is fading. Don't get it twisted though- she's not religious.

โŠฑ Updates everyone on her life and thoughts on her private snap story. She never got that phase in middle school where everyone was posting pics like Don't at me with a depressed-looking face or needlessly recording herself talking about her day, so she's making up for lost time.

โŠฑ Loves being the person's always caring for everyone else. If she can be in charge and the one people come to for help and reassurance, Violet's 100% into it. Something about being needed gives her purpose.

โŠฑ Romantically, as with most types of relationships, Vi likes to be in charge- at least to some extent. Perhaps that's why she rarely lets a flirtation last more than a few weeks. She's still in control at that point. Maybe not her biggest fear, per se, but it'd certainly be an adjustment that she'd put off at all costs.

โŠฑ {To be frank, I don't remember if I already wrote this, but it's still something that needs to be said} Despite appealing to the manufactured stereotype of a ditzy, blonde cheerleader, Vi is actually a total feminist, sitting in her room digging the powerful women in her favorite comic books to praising the work of Kathleen Hanna as she blares "Rebel Girl" on repeat. Why should she sacrifice her femininity just to be seen as badass? Or have to be sexy to get the job done either? Everyone should just be who they naturally are as respected all the same. Not that she still doesn't want to be on top and won't do what's necessary to get there, but her gender really shouldn't fucking matter other than she's a pretty girl.

โŠฑ Obsessed with pretty comic book/graphic novel girls. Granted, she's not proclaiming her love for Poison Ivy or Envy Adams, but she definitely owns a collection that she hides under her bed. She's super particular about who touches them, even though none of the comics are even remotely expensive and her graphic novels are worn, with the pages ripped at the edges. She's just possessive about them.

โŠฑ A guy who's not afraid that anything remotely feminine will challenge his precious masculinity and status as a dude? Incredibly hot. And something she's not used to finding.

โŠฑ Loves to bike everywhere on her yellow mountain bike. Vi usually goes mountain biking with Carole during the summer, and she finds it hard not to miss. It's usually her best bonding time with Carole.

โŠฑ Although story-telling isn't her strong suit, she's famous for her long anecdotes about the fake yacht trips on her dad's boat or even the real ones she has. Like the time her dad lost her in the mall but she didn't respond to the requests for her to return to the front of the store. She was too busy playing in the bouncy ball cage... where she was promptly traped. Or getting her ears pierced with her mom, who took her to a tattoo parlor instead of Claire's. The burly man who did them looked more afraid than she did!

โŠฑ Hyperboles. Hyperboles. Hyperboles. Exaggeration is definitely Vi's strong suit, so beware! If you can even figure out if she's telling the truth (which, she tries to. It's a bit hard), she might also be playing things up.

โŠฑ Hopes to become a better person, but Vi finds it more difficult than it seems. How does one rework their entire personality and not completely lose themself in the process?

Once upon a time, Violet was a middle schooler who had her obligatory edgy phase. 'Cept she didn't take as much to old Panic! or MCR. Nope- she became a riot grrrl stan for a hot minute, and she can't seem to shake that as her taste in music. There's plenty of show tunes and songs produced in the past ten years on this list though!

Living with someone as innocent and kind as Trinity always seems to surprise Violet. Not that she's an awful person (right?), but she can't help but be attracted to the girl. ๐’ฎ๐‘œ๐“‚๐‘’๐“‰๐’ฝ๐’พ๐“ƒ๐‘” is intriguing about her. Perhaps it's the mutual nightmares they share or just the way Vi can sense the same energy that runs through her flow off of Trinity. Strange. All around a sweet girl, though she tends to be a bit more clingy than Violet likes.

    โŠฑ Roommates!
โŠฑ Violet is often dragging Trinity with her to social events, pushing her out of her comfort zone, despite the odd glances she gets from time to time.
โŠฑ Don't be fooled- she isn't doing that out of the complete kindness of her heart. Trinity just happens to be aware of things she'd rather people didn't know about, like her trips to the woods.
โŠฑ Their friendship isn't as pure as it might appear. Depending on who she's around, Violet might push Trinity away or wrap an arm around her, calling her a close friend.
โŠฑ However, despite Violet's hot-and-coldness (queue the OG Katy Perry), Trinity always seems to forgive her after a few days (and possibly a few apologetic scarves Violet's knitted)

How come she can't help but get this weird sense that things are off with Jules? She seems to be unable to remember him from the past year. Strange. All the same, he's probably one of her top ten favorite people at {REDACTED}. She loves his sense of humor and even how he's roasted her a few times. Sure, his logical perspective can get a bit annoying from time to time, but he's still a fun guy! It also helps his and Osman's silly videos got her through middle school (But shh... don't tell them! It was just a phase)

Not to mention he's her favorite fling to date. Sure, she was a young freshie, but she enjoyed her time toying with Jules... until he wasn't around anymore. Now she can't shake that feeling that things are different. It certainly doesn't help Jules won't answer her high-pitched echoes down the hall...

    ๐‘๐„๐‹๐€๐“๐ˆ๐Ž๐๐’๐‡๐ˆ๐ ๐–/ ๐‰๐”๐‹๐ˆ๐€๐

โŠฑ For a couple of weeks during Vi's sophomore and Jules' junior year, the two "dated" (if it could really be called that)
โŠฑ He's the only guy who's ever broken up with Violet, and normally she's be upset (maybe even a bit vengeful... whoops!) but then he disappeared a week or so after.
โŠฑ For the rest of the year, she felt guilty, thinking the same thing happened to Jules that happened to Jason or Swim Team Girl. She constantly checked the local meat market for new pigs, looking to see if one of them screamed in her head in his voice or even checked the Internet religiously for clips of people turning into monsters. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
โŠฑ Then, the YouTube, Twitter, Insta, Tumblr, you name it- they were involved to some degree- noticed the dynamic duo was gone. Even with the knowledge that it was both Osman and Jules gone, she couldn't help but hold her breath in wait. Who was going to discover that their rooms had pigs in them? Even if she'd checked their dorm countless times?
โŠฑ By the time Jules (is it really Jules though? Maybe being a hog changes things in a person...) came back, she didn't care if he'd broken up with her. It was a miracle he wasn't sausage.
โŠฑ Of course, Violet doesn't know anything of the pair's disappearance now. Even if she swears there's a whole year she doesn't remember seeing him, the Cheer Squad quells her fears or the Drama kids tell her it's that overactive imagination that makes her acting so great. Still, she can't shake that something happened.
โŠฑ Now, Vi is too confused and busy shutting up that voice that says something is off about Jules, off about his Junior year, to really worry about something as trivial as him breaking up with her. It's not like she wasn't planning to do the same thing...

Marlowe. Marlowe. Marlowe. Vi will swear that if you speak her name three times, she'll pop out and ruin your life. Like a 5'1'' Beetlejuice. Or something like that. Yeah, everyone loves her (how could you not when she's essentially Laur's mini-me?). Sure, Violet did like her at one point. Her spontaneity always brightened up her day, and it wasn't hard to love her even if she was always trying to break Violet and Laurel up. But that's all behind her now. Marlowe ruined all of that, though most people aren't any wiser to it. Sure, they aren't close but they never were. Violet gets more gossip about Laur than Marlowe, and the two seem fine on the field. They're business as usual, just with more nasty glares.

โŠฑ Freshman year, Violet was close with Laurel, who's also close with Marlowe. Marlowe, ever the insecure little darling, didn't like this.
โŠฑ While Laur and Violet got along for most of the year, Marlowe always worked to get her friend to see the manipulative streak of Vi and how awful she is. She isn't worth it, Laurel!
โŠฑ The cause of the blow-up between the two girls was easily linked to Marlowe, who Vi knew didn't exactly appreciate having her around. Needless to say, there's some beef.
โŠฑ It was two years ago, though! It's not like she even cares anymore, other than when she runs into Marlowe or when Mouse catches her trying to talk to Laur, even if it's just small talk.
โŠฑ Most people, other than maybe those on the Cheer Squad, wouldn't know this though, as Violet doesn't need any more rumors about how much of a b!tch she actually is.

Violet doesn't hate Madison, unlike a lot of people at {REDACTED}. Like Trinity, there's something about her that feels different than most people. But beyond that, there's an odd kinship she feels with the school's resident rich bitch. Perhaps it's cause they're both ambitious to a fault, and Vi's just a little better at hiding it all. Either way, these two girls are ruthless.

โŠฑ As the walking anti-christ of {REDACTED}'s halls, Madison has a tendency to piss people off, but Vi is strangely into it?
โŠฑ Maddie thinks Violet is a soft, ditzy cheerleader, and it's only during Vi's junior year she starts to realize that looks can be deceiving.
โŠฑ Discovering she's capable of some unnatural things, the voodoo queen herself starts to take notice of the seemingly-darling richie.

Given they both attend the numerous drama meetings and cheer practices, Allegra and Violet are constantly around each other. While on the field the pair are on level footing, drama is a different story. Allegra, at least to Violet, always seemed a little jealous? She's always getting the starring roles, and even when she isn't, all eyes are on her. If there's a hierarchy, Violet is at the top with Allegra second. She's just got to keep the girl from stealing her crown...

โŠฑ People often wonder why they aren't close friends, and perhaps Vi has wondered herself from time to time, but it's very obvious why. They're alike is too many ways! The new girl on the Cheer Squad caught Vi's eye from the start. Fฬถrฬถeฬถsฬถhฬถ ฬถmฬถeฬถaฬถtฬถ! No, not really. Given the numerous rumors about sweet Violet's truer nature and her blowup with Laurel freshman year, a stranger is welcomed in her eyes. Someone who can get to know the real Violet (if that real version exists... and isn't just the master manipulator who doesn't even realize what she's done until it's too late to fix things... and it doesn't help she sometimes prefers that version of her... but nevermind that for now!). However, Eleanora isn't really interested in friendship, as Vi soon learns. She, just like most girls, wants to know the lay of the land, the who's-who.

โŠฑ They meet at the first Cheer practice of the year, and V offers to show Eleanora around school in an effort to befriend her.
โŠฑ However, she doesn't really care much for getting to know Violet (something that takes Vi far too long to realize) and instead asks about the it-girls, the hottest boys, what makes said hot girls and boys tick, all of it. It took Eleanora all of three seconds for her to realize Violet is a floater, someone who's generally liked by most who don't know her very well but disliked by the people who matter.
โŠฑ This informant-type relationship develops into a slight friendship as Vi realizes she's getting played more and more and requests help from Eleanora in return for the information she supplies.

There's plenty in common between Eliza and Violet. They're both bound by ambition and willingness to do what it takes to succeed, and thus, their friendship was born. However, beyond the surface, Violet can't help but be intimidated by the girl who's on equal footing as she is. They're both dedicated and bound to be liked by most with some naysayers in between. Rumors follow the two, which is perhaps why Vi sees Eliza as competition, beyond their passion for Drama. Who's going to come out on top of this battle for who can recover the fastest?

โŠฑ Essentially, Eliza and Vi are the epitomai of the frenemies relationship
โŠฑ After meeting through Drama, the two began a friendship that always had an undercurrent of competition that's simply only natural to being remotely competitive and friends with Vi.
โŠฑ While Eliza often resents the confidence that Vi exudes, Violet hasn't caught on to her truer feelings. She believes the two of them to be at the same level, making her a threat and only furthering the competitive tendencies between them.
โŠฑ That frenemy relationship is worsened by the fact that they both have reasons to perfect an image. They're both trying to recover themselves from the rumors that are spread about them.
โŠฑ Overall, they have the potential to come to an understanding of each other, but they're blinded by the need to be the best.

Or Violet's insistence that he isn't the one for her, that the whole rumor about them maybe dating was just poppycock. Yet, she can't help but sense his presence in the hall, in class, at a party- everywhere! Sure, she's caught staring now and then, and yes, she's totally going to get defensive, but still. She can't help but keep an eye on him.

    ๐‘๐„๐‹๐€๐“๐ˆ๐Ž๐๐’๐‡๐ˆ๐ ๐–/ ๐‰๐”๐ƒ๐„

โŠฑ It all began last semester when Jude worked on the script for the winter play/musical. He didn't catch her eye until the theatre director was an hour late for rehearsal. That's when she, with little to no close friends, struck up a conversation with the boy. Sarcastic, charismatic, and quick to the punch, Jude made quite the impression. Oh and he's hot, but we'll get to that later. For now, Violet settled for joshing around with him, even flirting from time to time.
โŠฑ Then, they started spending oodles of time together, and they were perhaps all over each other's Instagrams and TikToks way too much for people to not take notice. It didn't help the way she acted on set. Everyone in Drama with eyes could see the way she treated him wasn't like the rest. He got his own special treatment to Vi's bitch fits.
โŠฑ She finally realized she liked him while they were in his dorm, dying his hair {or something!}. She realized how elegant the curves of his face are and worse- she realized how much she liked being there. With him. That feeling of adrenaline softened, and she could focus. From then on, all bets were off concerning masking her feelings from him.
โŠฑ Naturally, they're teenagers, so things get intimate at some point. Obviously. Shirtless Pax happens to be more alarming than Vi thought. The whole scars thing prompted an endless amount of questions and concern on Vi ends and some answers on Pax's end. Vi ended up talking about her past in return, warmed by his honesty. Things moved on really quickly from this, however.
โŠฑ They moved on with a newfound respect for each other. Whilst before they had bonded over Violet's rants about her Cheer and Drama friends and he'd listen, enthralled and she returned this with equal participation in his novels, they were more intimate with each other (at least emotionally). People outside of Drama started to take notice of their "friend"ship now.
โŠฑ It sure didn't help when she'd show up to parties with him, only to leave when they were seen fighting over her flirtations with others or his time with some other girl. Or her secrecy concerning their relationship. There was little they didn't fight about, but it was all manageable. Until it wasn't
โŠฑ Pax bought her boots- the exact same as his favorite. And they wore them on the same day, walking down the hallway together and chatting like they usually do. That's when the rumors ran rampant, putting evidence to something Vi could easily deny. Her fellow cheerleaders gave her sh!t for it, claiming he isn't the type of boy she's usually interested in. And why shouldn't she be? Because he's not her type! He's not anyone on the Squad's type!
โŠฑ At a before-break party, they have a very public blow-up, especially when she refuses to hold his hand (or something! We can figure out the details later) despite the rumors pretty much damning her. Violet pushes him away, insulting him only to have just as much fury returned to him. She leaves him to cry in the bathroom, and the two go on break for the summer.
โŠฑ Oh, those thirst traps she kept posting? Those were totally for him, even if she won't admit it to herself.
โŠฑ Coming back to {REDACTED}, the two didn't really communicate or fully acknowledge what happened, despite hitting each other up via DM from time to time. She didn't like doing it- distancing herself that is- and it was quite painful. That's why she can still be found staring longingly at him in the hallway and sometimes she sleepwalks to just outside his dorm. These are usually the only moments she can fully remember. Don't even get her started on her usually sleepless nights being filled with her daydreams of him!
โŠฑ {This next part is a little into the future but for reference} That's why she talked him into the next musical. She'll go to hell before she admits it, and she'll even claim it was to keep an eye on him about the secrets she told him. But Violet's not an idiot. They're simply back where they started, though with a little more history and a lot more feelings. She's just got to stop being a coward about it all!

    {Violet doesnโ€™t understand 80% of her magic, but I knew if I didnโ€™t put this stuff down, Iโ€™d forget. Plus- some of you might find it interesting! Iโ€™m trying to be creative with the witchy lore, so hopefully this isnโ€™t stuff youโ€™ve completely heard of before?}

โŠฑ Lore is heavily inspired by Circe from The Odyssey and Ronanโ€™s dream-weaver stuff from The Raven Cycle
โŠฑ If you havenโ€™t caught on by now, weird things happen when people cross Vi. Sometimes, though, so Vi isnโ€™t really aware of it. Itโ€™s just as likely that you piss her off and nothing happens as it is something happens.
โŠฑ For instance, if youโ€™re a failed romance, you might end up a pig or a hideous monster. Or you might just wake up with horns that go away before class starts. Itโ€™s rare that major instances of transmutation occur, though the occasional scaly armpit or even just a simple bad hair day might be in the mix. Still- you might have seriously wronged her and you wouldnโ€™t even notice because all that happened was you woke up with a baby pimple full of green pus that you easily popped before first period. Simply depends!
โŠฑ Because of this, Vi doesnโ€™t really notice most of it. She knows when things are really off (she couldnโ€™t exactly ignore Jason turning into a pig, now could she?) but other than that itโ€™s not much of a point of focus for her. Her sleep-walking and sleeplessness is odd, but she tries to write it off and convince herself it has nothing to do with the night she clashed with her father. Or the Swim Girl event.
โŠฑ Moving into stuff Vi wouldnโ€™t know, her witchcraft is ala Circeโ€™s. In Greek mythology, sheโ€™s a sorceress, and in The Odyssey, this translates into her turning Odysseusโ€™s men into pigs. Thereโ€™s also a story of her turning a flameโ€™s side-lover into a hideous monster. Fun times! Circe primarily does this through spell-casting and potions. This translates into Violet in a number of ways.
โŠฑ The potions thing? Itโ€™s why Vi can bake so well. Pretty insignificant detail, but itโ€™s still important! It makes sense why people might end up with something odd happening to them after tasting one of her award-winning brownies.
โŠฑ Violet sleepwalks becauseโ€ฆ reasons I still have to figure out and that Iโ€™ll try to keep secret because I want something to be tenuous! I like having things spoiled, but I know that ruins it for some people. She goes to this weird tree in the middle of the night, that she only knows exists because she has strange dreams about it, where she hears its voice. Corruptus. Its a nice tree, and she feels sheโ€™s learning something from it. However, Vi doesnโ€™t realize itโ€™s a ~real thing~. She just knows she dreams about it and forgets 90% of it. The only reason sheโ€™s aware of sleep-walking is that sheโ€™s been slightly awake during it.
โŠฑ To be truthful, Vi isnโ€™t actually sleep-walking. Itโ€™s more like sheโ€™s sleep-forgetting. Sheโ€™s in a trance-like state where she walks into the forest about once a month or so. Itโ€™s not usually a biggie since it isnโ€™t something a lot of people realize, but thatโ€™s likely to change soon enough.
โŠฑ The reason why sheโ€™s going to this weird, glowing tree? Well, letโ€™s say itโ€™s teaching her some Ancient Greek that lets her cast spells and curse people. It usually only works when she has something emotional to attach herself to, but it has caused the weird outbursts from middle school to not repeat itself. Thereโ€™s some good that comes with a tree called something kind of scary!
โŠฑ The types of spells sheโ€™s learned so far are pretty much wish-fulfillment related. Itโ€™s not like she needs much elseโ€ฆ right? Who knows, but Vi couldnโ€™t defend herself from jack with the stuff sheโ€™s learned. What happened to the girl from that July night? She could do some wild shit, almost Carrie-style. Still, Vi doesnโ€™t know any of this other than things arenโ€™t as chaotic as they used to be. (Vigilante in the future maybe?)
โŠฑ Oh and that feeling that sheโ€™s got a constant supply of caffeine in her veins? Thatโ€™s related to all this magic mumbo jumbo too. Energy, like the stuff that makes up ley lines and lets psychics predict the future, courses through her. Itโ€™s a delicate balance, but the whole spell-casting thing is a necessity. Hence why she bakes a lot when sheโ€™s at Caroleโ€™s- thereโ€™s no one to hex so that energyโ€™s got to go somewhere!
โŠฑ When Vi gets the chance to sleep, she usually dreams of the tree or of something that manifests itself in the morning. Like with her collection of designer earrings, Viโ€™s phone and all the seemingly never-ending yarn she has comes from this type of dreaming. Granted, she hasnโ€™t figured out how to do anything useful with it other than get stuff she thinks is practical. Itโ€™s also not something she can just do. It happens by accident. At least she can usually sleep for a few nights after it happens.
โŠฑ Oh and Viโ€™s slightly fluent in Ancient Greek now. She just hasnโ€™t been prompted to use it other than in times she doesnโ€™t remember it. But itโ€™s there.
โŠฑ Going back to the energy thing, thereโ€™s one thing that should be understood about all that. Itโ€™s a lot like karma. You give some and someone else gets some. Most people {I feel like there should be another term than witch but I donโ€™t really like sorceress very much. Just know that this is all Greek mythology-related magic + my made up parts of Greek mythology sorcery and it might differ in terms of a definition of a โ€œwitchโ€} Itโ€™s not a coincidence her mother passed the night she stood up to her father, to say the least.
โŠฑ Overall, the basic idea with Viโ€™s โ€œwitchcraftโ€ is that itโ€™s pretty much an amalgamation of already mentioned influences + my own silly little add-ons and how I see those inspirations translating into a modern context. Not all of it makes 100% sense, like how Vi canโ€™t remember much of the whole โ€œspell-castingโ€ thing or choose who is her next โ€œvictim,โ€ but I think that adds to the mystery! Plus I havenโ€™t completely developed everything soโ€ฆ thereโ€™s that. Still, this is a good starting place + hopefully anyone who really cares to read any of this will be somewhat intrigued by my attempt to do a thing with witches! At any rate, sh!tโ€™s gonna get weird.
