@cindu12 I just went to check it out. I see the words “server migration”.
️ (I don’t actually know what this emoji means which perfectly captures my emotions)

server migration
"Server migration is the technique of transferring data from one server to another. Server migrations can occur for a variety of reasons including security concerns, equipment failures, outdated servers, and other factors.
Server migrations are performed by technical experts with the necessary expertise on server support and data migration. The process may seem like a simple click of a few buttons, but it requires a deeper understanding of how to move data to a new server without causing unplanned downtime.
During the server migration, it is important to note that some data may be temporarily unavailable, so it is crucial to map out the server migration before you begin to prevent unplanned data loss. It is also important to note what data may need to be reformatted to match the new system.
After the data has been properly mapped and the server migration has been executed, your technical team will need to authenticate that all data is accessible and intact, and that no data was corrupted during the migration."

FINGERS CROSSED!

My local office is going thru a server migration next week and it is my experience they are usually successful if tech is on their toes.
Having said that, I belive that this server migration could be a good thing if handled properly, but one downside I think will be is more ads using more bandwidth and the site being geared towards more of a shopping area since the revenue generated from that area is larger.
I deal with the same issue at my job. I work on the research side which does not generate direct revenue, but is an integral part of the success of the company. I use this comparison since the creation of sets is not direct revenue but can inspire others to purchase from this site by clicking on an item you might purchase which in turn generates income for URSTYLE.
Just my theory but just that, basically a guess. The one thing I do notice is a smaller workspace, although a subtle change, the ads seem a bit larger and my system a little slower. No way to prove that other than the small amount of drag I do get.
Time will tell, and my positive side is hoping for the best!!

@cindu12 Oh no!! Does this mean that the same thing that happened to Polyvore will happen in urstyle?? Noooo
-
@cindu12 looks like they’re getting bigger, they’ve used the “meta” word that Facebook has changed its company name to
-
@cindu12 Thanks for update
One thing I did notice was Metaverse integration which is Facebook ... wonder what that means, hope it is a good thing. Any thoughts @FunkyJunkyGypsy
-
@ollie Yes.
Basically, "metaverse" is just a word used to refer to life on the internet!
We used to say that we were in CYBERSPACE or on the Information Superhighway, remember? The 'metaverse' is the universe we live online, the virtual life, which is growing as technology develops all sorts of ways for us to interact with one another and never leave our homes. We don't even have to put on makeup, do our hair, or get dressed. There are filters for that, LOL!
Here's an except from an article that explains it better:
As a buzzword, the metaverse refers to a variety of virtual experiences, environments and assets that gained momentum during the online-everything shift of the pandemic. Together, these new technologies hint at what the internet will become next. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/10/style/metaverse-virtual-worlds.html -
Today there seems to be double the amount of adds, leaving less space to view sets, on the iPad at least
-
@janesstylediary Yes, they pop up on the bottom for me, but there is a "down" arrow on the upper left hand side (desktop version) so you can minimize it. Hopefully, they'll improve this, as even in completed Sets, there are HUGE adds between the work and comments left for the artist. No hand clap.
-
@funkyjunkygypsy You came to our rescue again, thank you Funky. I was wondering what the hell was going on!
-
@janesstylediary @FunkyJunkyGypsy Thank you FJG for your input
Further, I also think Urstyle has come into a investor or financial backing to be able to migrate servers etc etc as all that costs a lot of money. I could be wrong but I maybe right
-
@ollie I was thinking the same thing, perhaps partnering with someone in exchange for a percentage of their company so that UrStyle can be a more (sales) efficient website with up-to-date features and room for expansion. Place some duct tape over your computer camera, lest they might be peeking on you!!!
️
And don't even get me started on Bill Gates!
