@girlyideas I am glad you are of Celtic heritage, Tracy !.... Scottish AND Manx!!! !!! Thank you for coming to the party. I love your dolls! Last night we celebrate the "Old" New Year by having a ceilidh in the village hall. It was fantastic.!!

In case you have never heard of it, Old New year came about when the calendar was changed from Julian to Gregorian.. it is often referred to as the Orthodox New Year. In Scotland the Old New Year has traditionally been held on 12 January. Large segments of the Scottish Gaelic community still observe the feast and, it is still marked in many of the Sottish Islands. [ any excuse for a party in the long dark winters!!!]

PLEASE!!!!!! I am seeing lovely puppets.... but some of the backgrounds have taken over !!!! Some of the sets are becoming ART instead of doll sets. Remember the doll has to be the focal point... try to keep your background less dominant...... see my sample set!!!!

At least the Olympics are starting on Friday Helen and I plan on watching my favorite events, including tennis!

If you forget and don't have time to make another, don't panic!! I shall simply judge your dolly in the main contest instead of in the Elite .

I have started to relax a little now that most people have go the idea!!! Still one or two not quite there, but the ones that are good are VERY good!!!
Just so that it's clear, removing the background with the cropping tool is not acceptable..... I must be able to see the colour of the original background!

Of course, this doesn't mean you can't crop part of the subject and put it back on... for example if you wanted to put something behind it.... like adding an arm etc.!!

If you look at this set I did earlier, you can see I cropped bits and put them back after adding the chair and the plant.

Please remember the dolly rules!!! I like the bookmark shape background, but the doll should be placed slightly outside the background so that it is obviously a doll, not a picture. If you think your chef is not within the rules, you have time to change the placement.
I am not going to write suggestions on the sets as I did before because some people seem to take offence at that.

If you ARE open to suggestions you can let me know either here or by PM, otherwise I will leave it to your own discretion.

A quick reminder that shadows can really make your doll stand out from the page! I know it isn't easy if you are working on a phone or even a tablet; so I am not making it a requirement, but if you can manage to pop in a shadow or two that would be good!!🥰

"I love her, but her background is a little too dominant... please consider changing it up!"

If you do, you have an opportunity to change the background to fit the dolly rules.Of course, you have the right to leave your set just as it is, but it will not be considered for a place in the contest, which would be a shame as some of them are beautiful dolls, just a bit overwhelmed by the background!

Please remember this is a DOLL group! Dolly should have at least THREE parts and should be the focal point of the set! Thank you
