survivors of the polyvore apocalypse?
-
@emcf3548 No problem
-
i have the same nickname i had on polyvore and i hope to find old friends here
-
Hey! I was alessandralynn on Polyvore, and I was luckily able to grab that name here and on Shoplook. I figured if Polyvore shut down with so little notice, I'd better back up my work on more than one site. Happy to find more from the Polyfam!
-
@maggotpunk I miss polyvore too much.
So many friends that have just slipped by. It was a tight knit community. -
I am very glad for Urstyle. After trying other similar websites, this is so far the one where i feel more at "home" and have best tools and features for my creation needs.
But i lost hundreds of itens that i was truly fond of and also lost complete track of many users whose creations i really loved. As far as i know there was no explanation to us why the companies just erased Polyvore away from the face of the Earth. I sent lots of messages from twitter to ask Oath (the company that owned Polyvore) and also Ssense (the company who bough it ) on protest, for at least an explanation why they did what they did. Even today i sent tweets to their Twitter and so far no explanation. They keep deaf and silent towards us. -
Glad to see some familiar Polyvore faces. I was chelseasayswhat on Polyvore. I've managed to transfer over my sets so I'm relieved but still in shock that Polyvore just vanished the way it did!
-
@myrrael I was gothbear13 on Polyvore. Still dealing with the loss, but happy to say my sets are now saved to my flash drive and are slowly being uploaded to URSTYLE.
-
I was feggut on polyvore. I wasn't very active but I had a decent following and I would always log in when I needed to get my creative juices flowing. I will never forget that day when my eyes were first assaulted by the Ssense homepage. I still get horrid flashbacks.
-
hey, i'm from polyvore, i used to be sirijohans / gh0stinthesnow. i had a shitload of sets and colletions and i'm still mad i lost 'em all...
-
@sirijohans hello! glad to see you here
i know how you feel, i had dozens of collections - probably close to 50. i hate that i cant get them back or see them again
-
@chelseasayswhat hello! i recognize your name
i'm glad to see you're here, everytime i recognize someone from polyvore it feels a little more like home. i used polyvore since 2009, so i was (still am) totally heartbroken at the sudden loss.
-
Yay, a fellow survivor!
-
Hi!
-
i was gothcherub, its been super difficult without polyvore and i never realized how truly unique it was until it was gone. im glad i see some familiar names!
-
@maggotpunk I was predatorytryst first (was supposed to sound vampire-y) and then fawntasea. Towards the end I was a member of the groups Vibii Prince$$, pushing up daisies, and wavy vibes. Two things that make starting over so devastating are losing all the items I've saved over the years (including niche lines and user uploaded content) and the members who worked hard to bring more representation to the site. I'd like to move forward with models more representative of my family, friends, myself, and the people in my life. And I hope to still be able to create art, even art which deals with uncomfortable subjects like depression, mental illness, and addiction.
It just kills me that I can't access my old items, I had so many years of amazing things saved. It would take me at least two years to restore even a third of it and that's just the commercial stuff

Hello, hello! I was ghoulnextdoor over on polyvore for the last decade, and I'm hoping to run into some former polypals over here...
-
@ghoulnextdoor Welcome. I followed you on Polyvore.
-
@affton ah, thanks for saying hi! What a devastating blow it was, to lose all of that, right? I tried shoplook for a few weeks, but just wasn't feeling it, so I am hoping to recapture some of the magic over here...
-
@ghoulnextdoor Yes it was devastating to lose Polyvore. We have a fantastic community of members on URSTYLE who are helpful and generous. The URSTYLE tem is listening to what features we want and are making ongoing upgrades . If you need help with anything, just message me. The forums are a great way to find answers. If you need set items, this post lists members who have collections that they are sharing with the URSTYLE community.https://urstyle.com/topic/665804/hunters-and-gatherers-unite?page=1
Again, welcome!
-
@affton ok well I do have one question to pester you with and I think I know the answer, but I am going to ask just to get some validation. I loved the ability to upload my own items and I see that URSTYLE has that functionality, which I have tried to use....but none of the items I saved are showing up! Do you know if this is because they've turned it off due to to testing out the clipper that they are getting ready to roll out?
That was one of the things I loved about polyvore, not being limited to the items that are already in the database, but rather being able to clip and save whatever weird or imaginative stuff that I wanted!
