dolls maybe??
-
Hi, this is out to all the great doll makers here um I really want to start learning but they seem intimidating to learn so... any tips and tricks or tutorials on how to start?
-
Hi dear
I'm not a great doll maker (I have a couple of them in drafts), but you should feel free to use any items from my collection if you want to make dolls: https://urstyle.com/collections/2469 .
Just like with sets, it's the same with dolls - pick the items you like, try to see what works well together - follow your instincts and your fashion sense. Items in that collection above are pretty self explanatory, so I wouldn't know what to add

@vn1ta thank you sm! this is actually super helpful!
-
@filthysoul I'm so glad! There are many items there indeed! Good luck honey!
-
Idk how helpful this will be, but I would just say don't be afraid to keep it simple! I think folks get frustrated when they can't make like 50+ item dolls but really knowing the foundation and just practicing cutting out doll parts is super helpful! I'm hoping as more folks get onto urstyle there will be a couple more collections like the one listed above! Nobody will judge you, dolls are tricky and take time an practice!

@filthysoul I have a few collections that might come in use
Legs for days https://urstyle.com/collections/129
Doll arms https://urstyle.com/collections/395
Doll parts misc https://urstyle.com/collections/396

@agentdanascully yeah I just tried for the first time and I was SUPER frustrated with it but I'll get the hang as I go I guess
-
@filthysoul it is ESPECIALLY challenging in the new format but I have no doubt you'll get the hang of it!
-
@myrrael oh thank you sm!!
-
@agentdanascully it really is! I give props to every doll maker on here it's definitely an art!
-
@filthysoul I didn't really experience any problems making the dolls. Can I help you somehow?
-
@vn1ta it's less a problem more lack of understanding haha it's just super new to me but I mean if you'd like to help me in any way it would be great!
-
@filthysoul In my opinion the best way to learn how to make dolls would be to just start trying. I, personally, started with just tossing legs and uppers together to see what worked for me. It's also a good idea to look at other doll makers dolls. For both inspiration and to study how they compose a doll (and its background/ decorations/ fillers). Try not to get overwhelmed, some people have quite a lot of experience. But also, of course, don't get discouraged. We all started somewhere! And I, for one, often still make dolls that later make me wonder what on earth I was thinking while making it XD

@myrrael aw yay thank you for the kind words and advice it's nice that urstyle is basically starting over for all pv fam but it's still kind of intimidating
-
@filthysoul You're very welcome

@Myrrael explained it so well, I really have nothing to add
