Quieter on here recently

@fassionista I think polyvore got most their money from sponsored contests. They hardly had banner ads decorating the site.

If admin listened to users more instead of feel absent all time, the site would be be more popular.

@dotingsage Sorry, I am going to support Urstyle regarding your comments "If only the admin team got more engaged and promoted the site better, they could make it a full-time business generating lots of money.

Whoever runs urstyle needs help. Really sorry to go on. Today we are faced with administration nowhere to be seen and users clicking off because of poor up keep or lots of inconsistencies. Pandemic or no Pandemic there should be lots of users online. Not all countries are suffering the same. Not every person is busy 24/7. Look at other websites out there for comparison."

Urtsyle is running on a shoe string budget, meaning they do not have much money and from what I know there are only a couple of guys in the admin team, one who is Damien. So to me, it is quite understandable that they are trying to put ads into the Urstyle structure. I do not agree with the way they have gone about it but basically it needs to be done to gain income to support this website. Quite frankly I personally think we are lucky to have this site still functioning as it does.

Secondly a lot of the complaints about functions not working are frequently from inexperienced members who are not sure of how functions work and hence they do not know how to solve problems. Further, more experienced members can usually help these complaints without any intervention from admin. A frequent complaint is items are not uploading, yet in the real world website are encrypting images so you cannot copy them no matter what you do and this is not Urstyle's fault, it is just a fact or life.

Lastly, Urstyle does have an email address for help (which can be found when you log in) and on the couple of occasions I have used this over the last couple of years I have had very quick replies and quick action.

And yes, it is quieter but we are in the midst of a pandemic ... some are trying to get on with life, some are sick, some are caring for others but lets just hope everyone gets through this!

@ollie I understand the pandemic changes things a lot.

As for my thoughts on the social media. With more free advertising such as Instagram, they could generate a revenue from brands or sponsered contests or something. (I know they get some money from ads and I'm fine with these as long as they don't cover the set creation area)
I'm not saying post all the time as its hard with few admin, but couple times a month.

I'm not trying to be mean here.
There's also ways to get help from government for businesses so they could hire someone to fill the gaps in admins skills . I don't know the behind the scenes situation but, they do great things. Just need help to turn this place into more of a success than it already is.

Basically don't want the site to go away purely because the team can't manage the up keep anymore.

@dotingsage I do not think any of of us want the site to disappear but I also think there is more to all of this than the team/admin not being able to manage the up keep. I know what it is like to try and run a business when there is little money, I also have a basic idea of what the costs are to keep servers and a website running. Everything comes down to prioritising what is really important. I think they are doing the best they can with limited resources and as I said before, I think we are lucky to have the website functioning as it does. There is always two sides to every story and sometimes we all need to remember that.

EDIT: I stand corrected, they did post it here:

    https://urstyle.fashion/topic/2424978/updating-sets

@dotingsage I haven't been on for a couple months myself. The holidays were hard this year due to Omicron rearing it's ugly head and then I just got a bit tired of the ads popping up with each click and even though I completely understand their necessity it doesn't mean I want to fight them every time for creative space!

I did find this on Twitter from @admin this morning:

"Dear users, we are modifying Crate Tool save/update features. Since 10th Feb 2PM CET you will be able to edit only sets created AFTER that date. If you wish to edit/modify currently existing sets, please do it before that date"

So what I read is after this date of Feb 10 (tomorrow!!) if you want to edit a set created before then you will not be able to, which I find a bit odd but don't have the brain power to maybe care or question. I don't mean to sound harsh, just these changes are tomorrow and they are just now letting us know. Why they are not posting this on here as they used to is beyond me!!

Anyway hope everyone is well and happy! 😊🥰

  • URSTYLE Team

@cindu12 we are trying to fix some financial/server issues which will allow us to back here and be more active 🙂

  • Cheap but Trendy

@admin would be helpful to explain to users on the actual website, not everyone has twitter.

  • 🩷💛Dollie Divas🩵💜

@admin Thank you as always for the update...looking forward to them improving our experience here! 😊

  • Twisted Gypsies

@admin Why will we be unable to edit Sets anymore? That's a wonderful feature to have... Thanks in advance.

  • Poetry In Motion (Art Group)

@funkyjunkygypsy I think they are saying that we can still edit sets but only after a given date. My guess is, it has something to do with the server's and storage but I could be totally wrong on that guess 🙂
