Since she’s been busy touring with musical artists, Maria hasn’t dated anyone seriously in about a year. Her first love and long-time boyfriend was Carlos Lopez (2014-2019) whom she hasn’t seen since their sudden breakup. It was hasty and uncharacteristic of Carlos and she hasn’t trusted anyone since. She sleeps with fellow dancers and, maybe, just maybe, actually dated Ari on the road.

Maria Rosario’s parents were practically in an arranged marriage since they were born sometime in the ‘50s. They were the children of some of the most successful and long-running Catalan businessmen and architects - people who built their Spanish community from the ground up. Money was never a problem for the family. But Maria and her little brother, Marcelo, always detested their riches because it was what drove their parents away from home. They were mostly raised by the housemaid and their tía Titi - Mrs. Rosario’s older sister, Leticia.

Yet they couldn’t complain: they had weekend visits to cities across the States and grew up with long, lavish trips in Europe. The Rosarios flew their children out to wherever they were working when they weren’t busy enough to remember them. It was less of an act of love, and more of an assertion: they raised Maria and Marcelo to be cultured, mannered, intelligent, and accepted nothing less - even choosing to move to Miami when Maria was a toddler so she could speak perfect English.

The Rosarios set incredibly high standards and expectations for their children. Maria’s father struggled with accepting he was a shadow to his brilliant and beautiful wife, who called the shots in their architecture firm. He didn’t like it all but never dared say a word for a lifetime of reasons that revolved around self-hatred and, of course, money. He knew he could never intimidate or touch her, so he hit Maria and Marcelo instead. By the time Mrs. Rosario could bother to grow concerned about the bruises her alcoholic husband left on their two children, they died in a tragic plane crash on September 11, 2001.

    𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔

Maria moved back to her parents’ hometown of Barcelona after about 5 years in Miami. She lived with her aunt Titi whom she considers to be a mother-figure. She’s sentimental enough to not call her Madre, though. One thing her parents left with her with, other than the brother she adores, was her studious and strong work ethic. Growing up, Maria took guitar lessons while her brother learned the piano, and then they taught each other. They attended a private American school in Barcelona that had a wonderful arts program.

Shortly before her death, Maria was singing along to the radio when Mrs. Rosario discovered her daughter had a lovely voice. Her parents told her to shut up or else perfect the talent, so she did. Through Rosario connections, Maria managed to get an apprenticeship with a popular flamenco virtuoso at the young age of 10 and she began to take dance lessons. When Marcelo entered a prestigious art academy for his high school years, a retired, popular flamenco artist who worked there accepted Maria as his protege. She was soon performing in tablaos (traditional flamenco venues) and bars around Barcelona with owners begging her to return.

    𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒔

Around the time Maria was expected to go off to university, she was approached to be an opening act for a one-hit-wonder salsa artist and his humble American tour. She accepted and used the opportunity to seek out the perfect studio to continue dancing, having become more interested in contemporary forms. She loved blending flamenco and hip-hop movements together, creating a personal hybrid that left her skin vibrating. Maria was able to consider NYC and long-lost Miami until an admirer invited her to join their dance company in Los Angeles. She was 18.

Three years later, her brother Marcelo finished high school and moved out to L.A. for an esteemed acting school. The two rented their first apartment together. It was in the center of Hollywood and lousy compared to their aunt’s villa, but the first time they’d ever used the word “home.” After years of therapy to try and deal with the scars their parents left, they had only just begun to feel distanced and independent from their invisible judgments. After years of hard work, Maria stood out among her peers and scored auditions and work for pop stars like Rihanna and Pharrell Williams. Marcelo brought home a friend he met at work, and suddenly, life seemed like it couldn’t get better.

A Spanish actor and a Chilean actor in a film about “Chicano” culture couldn’t have been more ironic, but back then the three of them were young and in love with the idea of making money off their passions and actually surviving - they didn’t think twice about it. Carlos loved taking Marcelo under his wing, teaching him all he knew from his long endeavor of indie projects all over L.A., learning to appeal to an American audience. They became fast friends and Carlos fell quickly in love with his sister. The feeling was mutual, as Maria told him to move in the week they met; it wasn’t long until Marcelo wanted to move out.

    𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆

For about five years, Carlos and Maria lived like a married couple and never failed to make their friends swoon in jealousy over their love. Being together was easy, and their careers were just starting to take off: Carlos booked a minor role in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and his new friend, Zendaya, introduced Maria to Ariana Grande. Their lifestyle became more lavish and full of parties as they found themselves surrounded by humble celeb friends.

Maria loved a good drink and by then, Carlos had tried every drug offered in the valley. Since they were focused on their careers, neither of them ever took their partying too far, and always kept one another in check. But as Maria grew preoccupied preparing for Ariana’s upcoming world tour, the two saw each other less and less. It wasn’t until Carlos failed to answer Maria’s calls after the Manchester bombings that the two fought for the first time. Who knew the Avengers passed around so much coke? Well, not Maria.

    𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒓 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏

Her boyfriend had developed a bad habit. Although Carlos supported her through bouts of night terrors after the bombings, their troubles grew. Maria struggled to be there for Carlos, too, and she hated it. But Rihanna was calling her back on-stage for the 60th Grammys, and her agency thought she’d be a great fit for Kendrick’s music videos, too. Carlos had to leave and travel the world to film Spider-Man: Homecoming. They spoke every day and Maria assumed he was sober for the project. She was focused on preparing for her own international adventures. Carlos promised to meet her in Italy where they could share the same spaghetti noodle. But right at the start of Ariana’s Sweetener World Tour - before she even left and was simply out-of-town rehearsing for the preluding Coachella set - Carlos called and told her it was over.

The only thing that kept Maria from spiraling was performing every night. Her longtime friends and fellow dancers - the same dancers that survived the horrors of 2017 with her - got her through it. And especially Ari, who was all-too-familiar with heartbreak. When she returned home, Maria didn’t have her best friend. Marcelo had moved back to Spain a year ago for his breakout role in Netflix’s Elite. So she did what she knew best and buried herself in work. Soon Maria was on the ticket for another world tour, that of rising Latin star, VALÉRIO. On this tour bus, she didn’t hold back and experimented with a bit of everything the way she remixes her dance styles. Everyone was older and even more insane and sexy.

Maria almost forgot about Carlos, or so she thought. We meet her as she nears the end of VALÉRIO’s year-long tour, on the European leg. She meets him. And soon the world will meet her - 𝓖𝓵𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷𝓪.

    • Trusts no one easily despite being / because she is so loyal; your first impression of her would lead you to think she’s standoffish. You just gotta crack her exterior to find a true bubbly nature. But damn that’s a hard gem!
    • Grew up emotionally and physically abused by her alcoholic father who never thought she was good enough at anything so there’s that in her head
    • Feels she “doesn’t have the time” to romantically explore her sexuality and feels weird guilt about it despite having no drama in her same-sex relations (refusing to realize she might just still be in love with someone)

    • 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲:
Her parents were a globally-renowned Spanish architect team (Rosário + Partners) that died on their way to a wedding in San Fran after some meetings with clients in New York when Maria was 8; Marcelo was only 4. They were victims of the 9/11 attacks, specifically on Flight 93. Maria feels guilty for not missing them more, but claims they weren’t close if anyone actually finds out and asks. It has something to do with her dad being a drunk and abusing her and her brother, but Maria doesn’t dwell on it.

    • 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲: Carlos is an only child with a single mother who raised him on her own. He’s a Momma’s Boy and credits her for everything. She is Chilean but lives in Madrid, working for Loewe as an assistant to creative director, Jonathan Anderson. He has relatives on his father's side that live in Madrid, too. His father died of cancer when he was 12. His dad's Spanish family was nice enough to help raise him, even if it was probably to schmooze off his Disney money.

    𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝

Growing up, Carlos was momentarily famous back home in Chile as a child-star in a forgettable show for Disney Channel Latinoamérica. The show was canceled by the time he had to move to Madrid; his father died when he was 12 and Miss Lopez moved them to Spain so her parents-in-law could help raise Carlos. With the money his grandma left him after she passed, 16-year-old Carlos bought a one-way ticket to Los Angeles where he could only afford to rent a room in a possible drug house and register in a C-lister’s acting school.

An agent soon took him under his wing after Carlos caught his instructor’s eyes, but by then, Carlos got tied up in the local university’s party scene and lost himself. When he’d go to auditions, he just wasn’t the beaming ray of sunshine his agent was speaking all over the hills about. Being Hollywood’s most famous Chilean actor seemed to become a lofty daydream than his lifelong goal. Sure, he made it into the background of a Marvel franchise - a feat that would be enough for some people - but by his 22nd birthday, Carlos wanted to die thinking that was all he could do.

But soon after, he began to tell himself that moving to California happened for a different reason - a different destiny - Maria. To say he fell head over heels would be an understatement as his head was already in the clouds, specifically raised up by smoke clouds and pills. To him, Maria became the sun, drawing him out and back into the world’s warmth. No one could account for the clouds - terrorists and hate, mistakes and deaths of loved ones. Carlos couldn’t stay sober and lost a chance of starring in one of 2020’s biggest films, Dune with his good friend, Zendaya.

There was the death scare. The big secret. He keeps it to this day - the reason he disappeared from California, the day before Valentine’s Day in 2019, and went away for a while. He hopes the world never finds out. Carlos has even managed to keep that day from Maria. He tells himself he’s not ashamed, that he’s simply a new person - a better one. Why talk about someone who’s dead?

But as he finally returns to the spotlight, he runs into the love of his life. A second chance at achieving his dreams turns out to be at the cost of another. So Carlos does what he knows best - he gets stoned, and his heart hardens...

    𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬:

    • He has fought with sobriety since he was 12 and he’s really good at keeping secrets, which doesn’t help. Daddy Issues and self-hatred are not a good mix...
    • Lost many, many great opportunities in Hollywood outside of his Marvel projects for being unreliable; he fears he’ll never make it big in the States now
    • Two years ago, he lost his very good friend Malcolm Miller. He quit drugs “cold turkey” but a huge film rejection sent him spiraling months later. After his own scare, he abandoned everyone and went to rehab. He’s been off hard drugs for about a little over a year now and secretly ( 😞 ) goes to therapy twice a week
    • Went against the wishes of his mother and doctor and went back to work only 6 months after his OD because he got a role in Elite - feels half-nervous, half-confident about it

    • 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: He’s been acting and training since he was a child. Carlos wishes he was better, but his studies have gone faint and his passion was dwindling before Elite. After his self-titled “career disaster” in Cali, Carlos moved back to Madrid and got a few modeling jobs in Europe. So he’s good at looking good, too. It was walking for Loewe that he got discovered for Elite. He’s also a good dancer, though he’d never admit it.

    • 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬: His fans finding out about his, let’s say, naughty past • getting caught in his lies • not living life to the fullest • Maria never forgiving him • losing his mama

    • 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬: So far, all the ones about dating his co-star Denise and how she bought him a place on the show because she saw his modeling campaigns and got a crush…and how it’s true!

    • 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐞:
He feels he doesn’t deserve it but tries to make the best out of the platform he’s gained. Outside of his self-deprecating bubble, Carlos knows he’s worked hard to get where he is...but is he just wasting precious space? He can’t get it out of his head.

    • 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜:
He loves fashion but will wear sweats in public and look very unkempt to not gain attention. Sunglasses are a must. Unfortunately, his gorgeous curls give him away.

    • Feels harassed even if it’s (usually) all love for him and his boyfriend (Arón from Elite)

ᴇɴʀɪǫᴜᴇ ɪɢʟᴇsɪᴀs ɪs sᴜɪɴɢ ʜɪs ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ғᴏʀ ᴘʟᴀɢɪᴀʀɪsᴍ - the headline that started it all. VALÉRIO rose to fame for collaborating with his older brother, Enrique on a radio hit single, “DINERO FOR DINNER” 2 years ago; they pretend-sued each other for its promotion which is how the world learned about Rio. He has since risen to international fame as Enrique 2.0 while his brother retires happily, caring for his young children. That is…after he slept with Rio’s long-time girlfriend, Valentina (𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥: Anitta, character written by @neusex).

    𝑯𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒏𝒌 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔

Valério is a family man, a momma's boy, one of two children. His family seems perfect to anyone from the outside; Rio insists it is. He adores his older sister, Manuela, and very little people know that she is actually his half-sister. As the story goes, Rio's parents were high school sweethearts that lost touch a handful of decades into their relationship. It was when Mario lost his long-time job at a theatre due to a manual error that led to an actor's injury; he turned to drinking to deal with the pain and embarrassment of the loss. Manuela was just a teen when they briefly split, and Rio's mother had a short affair with Mr. Julio Iglesias himself. She was pregnant with Rio by the time she reconciled with her husband, and in fact, he never knew the truth about the child's paternity. When Rio was only 3, the only man he'd known as a father died of a heart attack in his sleep.

It wasn't until he was a teenager that Rio's mother told him the truth out of guilt. After all, they were incredibly close, and it was Iglesias money that paid for her to live at home, working freelance as a painter. Rio had found an Iglesias check in her office one day and briefly, all hell broke loose. At this point, Rio was already interning at Medellín's top radio station. Before long, he'd be known across Colombia and given awards and praise for his signature sexy voice. But before he was an up-and-coming radio DJ, he was just a scrawny kid with big dreams.

Ever since he could walk, Rio was putting on shows for his family. He would put on his dad's straw hats and sing romantic songs for his sister and mother; as a child, he would always enter in the local talent shows even though he never won. Rio was ambitious and had many passions. For a long time, he thought he would be a soccer player and only saw his drumming, guitar skills and singing as hobbies to keep for the ladies. It was his high school music teacher that encouraged young Valério to seek any spot in the music industry where he'd surely find success.

As the kind of person who could easily charm anyone, always sweet and considerate to a fault, Rio knew how to make friends everywhere he went. This is how he scored a spot at Rumba 103.1 where he went from being the cute, skinny intern to being the buff and tatted face of the team. It was his start at the radio station that taught him the world of marketing; before long, he knew how to sell himself and his Instagram followers sky-rocketed. Every celebrity that arrived in his city met him, and soon Rio was partying with them.

𝑻𝒖 𝒎𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝒆𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒛ó𝒏 / 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒐 𝒎𝒊 𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒓 𝒏𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒂...

Making his own music started out as a joke. It was a running gag on his morning show, as listeners would call in just to hear Rio freestyle a lyric for them. His voice was already loved by thousands - no music necessary. In fact, the only time he was making songs was when he was inspired by his girlfriend, Valentina. Val & Val were local celebrities and their chemistry on the morning show blossomed to be Rio's first real love - and everyone knew it. No other girlfriend could compare to his infatuation for Valentina. He worked hard if only to afford her dream engagement ring.

So of course, when his mother started to see Julio Iglesias again after his concert in Medellín, Rio jumped at the opportunity to learn more about the music industry from his Spanish idol of a father. The two of them, surprisingly, hit it off. It was as if they'd known one another their whole lives even if he was an absent father and Rio the secret child that his longtime wife would rather murder than reveal to the public. It was his famous child that had trouble warming up to the new "perfect son" that showed "promise" - Enrique was cold to Rio from the beginning.

Over countless invitations, drinks, and favors, Valério practically worked for Enrique as a manager without pay to gain his respect. Eventually he finally considered his half-brother a close friend. After all, Rio could make anyone love him, no? Imagine his surprise when he found out Enrique was only hanging out with him to get closer to Valentina. In the end, it was only Rio who was surprised to learn the social-ladder-climbing, material friends he was surrounded by included his beautiful, beloved girlfriend. It was the first but not last time his gullible and almost oblivious, dreamy nature would bite him in the ass.

...𝑨𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒂 𝒑𝒖𝒆𝒅𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝒖𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒅𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝒏𝒆𝒏𝒂

It wasn't until he'd been catapulted into fame as Enrique's equally-talented-secret-brother that Rio found himself at the top, alone. He was so heartbroken and overwhelmed that he took his sister's advice and signed the record contract with the family label, anyway. Manuela told him that his revenge would be a long but worthy game: making money from his heartbreak, squeezing the family that shit-talked him for all they were worth. Latin American media said it themselves: the Iglesias name would be a memory if wasn't for the career Rio set forward as VALÉRIO - the heartbreaker, the new-money bachelor with a mansion in the mountains of Medellín that children in the area dreamed of one day stepping foot in.

But he always found himself too drunk on the terrace, too lonely after a one-night stand even if it was with Rihanna - always complaining about his debut album, never finding happiness with it. Being at the top of Latin charts wasn't enough. So he gathered some of the most talented dancers and musicians he could find and took them on a world tour. He set his sights worldwide.

    • Doesn’t know how to handle all his new money, hella extra
    • Rio grew up as his father’s bastard before getting adopted into the Iglesias family when Rio’s mother re-entered Mr. Iglesias' life, so he wasn’t around all the money and fame until 6 years ago. Everyone in the Iglesias family pretty much hates him and his mother as they see her as "The Mistress" even though Mr. Iglesias has slept with countless numbers of woman that aren't his wife throughout his career
    • Got heartbroken by his first real love, Thaís Valentina, which is why he slept with the world trying to replace her. She supposedly cheated on him with Enrique. They dated from 2015 to 2018 and broke up right before his first album, 𝘔𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘭 dropped; she features on its very first song, which is followed by break-up songs.
    • Bad taste in alcohol (mixes everything, doesn’t know what he’s doing, claims it’s the Colombian way)
    • A whole ass mess but actually a talented ass sweetheart 😩 He has a beautiful voice and everyone can’t help but break into a cold sweat when he moves his hips...
