Interviews with Group Admins: What is Your Favorite Contest?

  • Hey everyone! This post will be the last in the Behind the Scenes: Being a Group Admin series. If you have been following the series up until this point, we have talked about typical responsibilities, how to make contests, do's and don'ts and tips on how to start your own group. I apologize that it took so long to create this post but I was preparing a special treat for you guys to end the series: Interviews with Group Admin! Today we will be talking to some popular group administrators and getting their responses to two questions: What was your favorite contest theme you have made and/or participated in? and What is your favorite part about being a group administrator? I will also be answering the questions as well 😊 Let's get started!
(side note: for formatting purposes, each group admin will be a different color so you can tell who's who)

QUESTION 1: What was your favorite contest you have made or participated in?

    Answers:
@Lynette (Lovely and Pretty) : “My favorite contests are usually the ones I’m almost scared of posting, the contest themes that might seem vague. Especially when I was just starting, I was afraid that keeping the contest prompt vague or even too specific would keep people from entering, but I’m so happy I was wrong! One of my first favorites was the “Hometown Tourist” contest and a recent favorite was the “Light and Architecture” contest, both had me pleasantly surprised with how many people entered and how creative the entries were!”

@Shoaleh-Nia (URSTYLE FASHIONISTA and FASHION DIVAS) : “My personal fav contest themes are color combos.”

@Fassionista (Beauty, Fashion, Fun) : I’m not sure I have a favorite contest theme, lol. It’s usually always the last one I thought up or entered 😅

@artgivesmelife (Color Crush and Art of Expression) : "Fav contest would be anything coming out of the group, WWYW? Like what would you wear to meet a princess or what would you wear for a winter train ride.."

Me: My favorite contests I have participated in would probably be destination contests, pattern contests, and color combination contest. But I have a lot of favorites, so really it comes down to any contest theme that challenges me and makes me feel excited to make a new set!

QUESTION 2: What is your favorite part about being a group administrator?

    Answers:
Lynette: “The first thing I love about being a group administrator is seeing people make sets based on themes I come up with. After publishing a contest there is always a moment where I think “what if no one enters?”. It’s such an honor when people want to join in. My second favorite thing is being able to create a little more attention for the sets that were entered. I appreciate everyone that enters the contest so much and I try to give them as much of a platform as I can. I don’t have the powers to choose “featured sets” but I do take my time to judge contests and write a little something about why I chose each set. It’s an extra way to thank the ten people that won that contest, and a way to help their sets get the attention they deserve.”

Shoaleh-Nia: “My favorite part about being a group administrator is just being a part of an amazing community.”

Fassionista: “My favorite part of being a group administrator is twofold. I love seeing the creativity of well designed submissions and the different interpretations of the theme. It really energizes me. I also love seeing artistic development over time...from a new member entering a contest for the first time go from scattered, unfocused sets to developing an outstanding style of their own”

artgivesmelife: "My favorite part of being a moderator is seeing other's excited about creating, then making someone's day when they get the win!"

Me: My favorite part of being a group admin is definitely seeing the creations people make for my ideas! It is always so exciting to come up with a contest theme (while having a vision in my head of the theme) and seeing it come to life through people's sets 😊

That is all for this series! First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been following this series from the beginning and supporting it, you guys are the best and I hope you have enjoyed it!
