Ways to help site out. (server issues).

@arjanadesign YOU ARE 100 % CORRECT THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE AMOUNT OF USER'S,AND IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THEY ARE ALL THAT CONCERNED IN LOSING SOME OF US,MY CLIPPER HAS NEVER EVER WORKED WELL I MAY IF I'M LUCKY GET 2 ITEMS OUT OF MAYBE 25 THAT I'VE CLIPPED...SO NOW I JUST HAVE TO TAKE THINGS FROM OTHER FOLKS WHEN I CAN.I HOPE THIS ISN'T A SIGN THEY ARE READY TO SHUT US ALL DOWN,LIKE OUR BELOVED POLYVORE DID,SEEMS TO ME IF THEY WERE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT US THEY WOULD AT LEAST AT THE VERY MOST INFORM US WHY THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON AND ON AND ON...I'M SERIOUSLY THINKING OF GOING BACK TO TRENDME IT'S NOT THE GREATEST BUT IT BEATS GETTING SO FREAKING FUSTRATED EVERY TIME I GO TO TRY TO MAKE AN ART SET...SORRY FOR MY RANT HUGS LOUISE

I agree that there is not enough bandwidth to handle the users on the site. I don't think there is much the user's will do to reduce the issues because the site has created the problem in the manner it's set up.
It took me a while to understand that to get your name to show (credit) for items you clip, you have to leave them housed in ITEMS. If you organize them to your collections then delete them from the items category you loose having your name appear as the person that clipped them. You have to leave them in both places duplicating them until you create something with them or somebody else creates with them. I understand it's a sharing site and the expectation is that Urstyle can build their supply base by doing it this way because users will take items from each other.
But, it's a bad process to me. Some users clip hundreds of items at a time but don't use them all until they need them. In order to keep credit for the work you've done clipping, you end up leaving the items sitting in 2 places (items & collections) taking up more server space. Also leaving them in ITEMs causes you to run the risks of some users that don't clip much or at all taking your unused items for their own creations before you can use them. This has already created some issues on it's own. To decrease the space, leave the user's name on the item once it's clipped regardless of where the original clipper of the item stores it. Then you can delete a clipped item from your ITEMS without loosing credit for having clipped it.

@idetached what urstyle needs is to get money from advertising peoples products on the site. Companies payed for that and held contests to share the items they sell.
If more companies payed for advertising then we'd be able to have urstyle move to a bigger server. -
@idetached I have never had that problem. I move them all to a temporary collection to be sorted and there they stay, out of MY ITEMS. The "FJG" I put on each remains.

@dotingsage I believe they already do get paid for product placement. That's why we see promotional items posted on the front pages. They also ask users to remove the ad blocker when using this site. I know because I got the message asking me to deactivate my ad blocker to get full use of the site..

@funkyjunkygypsy I took a look and noticed you don't keep anything in items. If you can clip and store your unused items in collections and keep your FJG on them maybe it's the way you clip and use your clipped items right away to create. I can't tell if you clip and store unused items. I didn't see any unused items with your FJG on it. I believe it should work the way you say, it did on Polyvore. But, if you check out many of the users a lot of items are shared from, they have huge stored items in the thousands, some over 10,000 items.
We all see and use a lot of clipped items that are not credited to anyone. It's blank. As an example look at eyesondesign, one of our most active user's. I believe we have all liked items of hers to reuse. Her ITEMS count is in the high thousands.
I had this discussion with some other users when we were all trying to enter a contest that required you to enter using items you clip. None of us had our user names showing up on our items because we were all putting them in collections then deleting them from items. Once deleted from items, our user names were also removed unless the item had been used previously to create. I hope I'm explaining this in an understandable way.

@idetached Just regarding items, I have noticed that everything anyone clips goes into the ART section. I use this section more when creating sets of all types using the main search function, it's just a matter of finding items

@idetached It makes sense to me that if you upload something and delete it without using it, and no one else has Liked and collected it, that of course, the item is gone and so is your name/signature.
I do take all of MY ITEMS (the clipped items) and move them into a Private Collection right away, lest I may forget about them, as I don't tend to click on the MY ITEMS tab. To make it easier for me to find something I know I clipped at some point, I just toss it in an unsorted collection, to be sorted when time permits. Once sorted, items go into my various Public Collections.
I used to name the items by type, such as "Flowers" or "FAIRY" or use a symbol, such as a blue or purple heart. This item, for instance: https://urstyle.com/shop/15836012
It kept things "clean" rather than have a massive amount of numbers/web addresses on the file as its name. Visually, I prefer it.After seeing one of my clipped items in someone's collection (It had the blue heart as it's 'name') I wondered if the User really had found it through me or if anyone else also used hearts to name clipped items. I decided to use 'FJG' from then on -- not because I feel I own any image. I put them in collections for the purpose of sharing them. It's just nice to see that something I may have discovered and thought was cool has been appreciated by someone else.
Point is, if you go through my collections, you'll find that some items have been found in the collections of others, and some have been clipped by me. My 'FJG', or my former standard genre name (such as: FLOWERS), or a heart, is there. It remains there in my collections. Perhaps it changes if someone Likes it?
I don't know if UrStyle renames a certain type of file or how files lose their name -- if they do at all. It could be that someone else clipped the same item and gave it a different name? I would not be at all surprised if we're clipping many of the exact same items.
I have no idea why items would be blank unless the User decided to delete the original name and leave the title blank. I just tried this with the Clipper and it works. So, perhaps some people just prefer a clean look/feel as well. If so, when someone else finds the same item online, if they clip it and keep the original name or use another, it appears that it's been renamed.

@ollie I haven't noticed that, but thanks I'll check it out. I'm sure Urstyle is building up it's collection base through our ITEMS tab as it remains public. I haven't been doing a lot of art until recently so I've clipped a lot and started to leave it in my ITEMS. I've been making collections to share but I've also got an increase in likes on some of my art clippings, maybe it's the reason.

@idetached Its not just art items, it's everything ... sofa's, vases, fashion etc etc as soon as you clip an item it appears under the art tab section, if I am correct? As I said the hard part is finding things as not everyone names items the same.
