Those wide-eyed children who fell in a glorious rapture of the world’s oddities and wonders have seen their own lives rise and set, and with them disappeared the last true glimpses of red-and-white tents. Train tracks no longer quake with the rambunctious anticipation of revelry. Towns are not consumed by the prospect of a magical visitation. Maybe it was all for the best. After all, the last thing the world needs is more animal cruelty, cheap tricks, and underpaid wages. Plus who has the time or desire for such trivial things in the time of endless internet entertainment and skyscrapers that mock God?
⠀⠀⠀⠀It seemed like such displays would become nothing more than an insignificant part of the past. Then, almost overnight, talk of the most unimaginable and wonderful show began to snake through worldwide whispers. Enamored. Enchanted. Perhaps even...bewitched. Tsirk Mechty. The Circus of Dreams. Wherever it traveled, intoxication followed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀No old clown dabs on his white pan stick, pushing the pale paste into the creases above his eyes. No sweet young girl in a neat, cream dress perfunctorily swallows a sword and retrieves it again from her gullet without flinching. No, no. Perhaps it is best to leave the little ones at home. This is no place for the faint of heart.

⠀⠀⠀⠀But this magic is no illusion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀After all, this is not the golden age of circuses. This is the age of shadows. The wildest of dreams can come true under the star-laden canopy, but be careful. For in this world, they can just as easily descend into nightmares...
