Cropping Tool

Please please don't change the cropping tool. At the present time it is doing some very weird things. I'm not sure if it's because of the updates that are being done but when I try to crop something it's a disaster. I know people want to create but wouldn't it be simpler to just shut the site down for maintenance and then do your updates? Sites do it all the time. Just a thought.

@arjanadesign the cropping tools won't be changed if the glitches are adjusted. They will simply go back to doing what the features normally do. Shutting down the Site would, in the long run, be counterproductive for the Platform itself, because with the large amount of updates that are in process, the Site would have to shut down indefinitely. Members wouldn't have a clue as to when the Site would be functional again because URStyle wouldn't be able to even guestimate, with all the improvements they're implementing, on when the Site would be back online and the longer a Site is offline, it's like having a brick and mortar business closing its' doors indefinitely. Advertising is lost, more customers are lost, etc. It may be frustrating for us as members to have to work around the updates, but it would be even more disconcerting not being able to access anything we've been working on otherwise. We wouldn't be able to upload any Items, work on organizing our Collections, and stay in touch with friends. So there are other things we can do while we're waiting for the Create Page to straighten up and fly right.
URStyle is a young Site as well, taking on a Polyvore like Platform that PV itself took nearly 10 years to perfect. My experience is they do get to the problems and they do fix them and the end result is we get better features as the updates are implemented. I just think it's worth the wait for the end result

@Arjanadesign Please describe the problems that you're encountering here so that admins know what to fix
For example, I noticed that item gets "zoomed in" while I crop it sometimes. When it gets zoomed in, I cannot see it and, therefore, cannot crop it well (as I see only part of it).

@vn1ta YES!! That's "exactly" the problem I'm having. I restarted my browser and I see the video now :). My Screen Shot looks just like what you are describing on the video, but yesterday and the day before, there was a dark square and the Item wasn't showing up at at all. This doesn't seem to be the case now, but yes, this blurred, enlarged view of the Item is what I'm seeing as well. Thank you for taking the time to share the video, it really helped to clarify the problem! You're the best!

Everyone who had a problem with the cropping tool - please clean your cache (instructions given here: https://urstyle.com/topic/1553017/important-information-about-urstyle ) and then check the Creator again. It should work well now

@vn1ta I start to crop and the screen goes dark and I can't see the image.

@auntiehelen Dear, please try switching browser (to Mozilla, Chrome or Opera) until admins resolve the issue

@auntiehelen Dear, does this only happen with the Pen tool? Have you used this tool before?
Please note that you need to hold the button (on your mouse) down while using this tool - like you hold down pencil while drawing. Once you make a finite shape, you should release the button. Please try this.

@vn1ta It happens with all the tools.. and yes, I have used it lots of times.. in fact it was working perfectly just a few hours before and I cropped the doll part, made the doll and then it wouldn't save the draft. It offered to download to save and I did that, but I wasn't happy about using what looked like a complete doll; so I decided to start over, and that's when the problem came up !!! I don't intend loading another browser as my WiFi is not strong and I try to burden it as little as possible, but I shall try going opening a private window and see if that helps.

@vn1ta I went in on a private window and the cropping tool works! It's a nuisance to do that because I have to sign in every time, but hopefully the problem will be resolved soon, so I shall manage that way for the time being!!! If anyone else is having the same problem when using Safari, this is way to get round it!! Thanks for your help.

@auntiehelen When did you clean cache for the last time? It should be a recent clean, as these changes are fresh.
You could save your username/pass on your browser - then you wouldn't have to type that info every time you log in - the browser would automatically offer you log in info. In any case, admins told me that problem with cache will be resolved as soon as possible.

@vn1ta I cleaned it immediately before trying to use the tool. But actually I see my cropping tool is working now... although the draft will not save yet!!

@vn1ta Okay, I cleared the cache and tried to cut something and it WORKED! I'm on my work computer (shhhhhhhhhhh) I use Chrome on both work and home computers., I will check my home computer this evening. Thanks so much. When is the "forward/back" tool going to be fixed? The thing with cleaning cache is that it needs to be done manually after each update if:
- we want the changes to be effective immediately (normally, cache should be automatically cleaned in 15 minutes)
- if we have an ad-blocker, which prevents automatic cache cleaning
That's how I understood the admins
