Welcome to the Academies for Heroes and Villains! Here at the Academies, we strive to provide your Heroic and Villainous children with the best education to be found in both realms. We work closely with students, faculty, and the community to provide a superior education, (sort of) safe schools, and a climate for success and an environment that promotes intellectual growth, individual initiative, mutual respect, and personal responsibility for productive citizenship and/or undeadness.If your child has demonstrated a glorious altruism and a stupid amount of selflessness, then they shall be placed in Hero High, run by the esteemed Headmistress Angelica Eirisse.
If your child has demonstrated a thirst for blood (sometimes quite /literally/, if they are of vampiric descent) and adventure, then they shall be placed in Villain Academy, run by the nefarious Headmistress Tempesta Khalida.

Humans have never been the only “intelligent” species on this earth-there are many other species who live beside them, often without their knowledge. Elizabeth Bathory, the infamous Blood Countess? Vampire (/duh/). Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer and gold-medalist? Mermaid (probably). John Muir, that lowkey crazy dude who could recite Scripture from memory and went traipsing around in the mountains of the American west? Dryad. Donald Trump, the Cheeto-like president of the United States? Zombie (he was mauled to death during his election campaign by some angry werewolves who’d had too much of the “herbal substances” that the dryads are so fond of, but Headmistress Khalida Raised him. Who knows why?).
Millennia ago, a human-Hero-Villain war broke out, with humans emerging as the victor due to Hero-Villain in-fighting. Heroes and Villains retreated into the shadows and let the humans remember them only in fairytales and bedtime stories. A pact was formed in between the non-human species to hide their existence from humans, and so they set up two Academies separate from the human realm on an island simply known as “The Island” (the person who came up with the name is /real/ creative, right????). One side belongs to the Heroes, the species of good (AKA the species who don’t hate sunlight. Whether they’re good or not is probably disputable), and the other belongs to the Villains, the species of evil (“evil”; notice the quotes. “Evil”).
Thus, a balance was created in between Good, Evil, and Human.

STUDENT SPECIES
THE GOOD,
{DRYADS}
-Intimately connected with the earth, there's no way that you can beat a dryad in geology or orgo chem
-Tend to be wild and free-spirited and creative (they do love dyeing their hair a million different colors)
-Can frequently be found smoking, ah, herbal substances in the fields and forests surrounding their dormitories
-Quite fond of the date April 20th
-Capable of communicating through emotions and sensations with both solid earth and plants -Although they are usually only adept at manipulating one or the other (the rare prodigy will master both)
-Usually good with animals as well
-Don't do so hot against fire or lightning, plus they're really claustrophobic
-Dryads live in small clusters of quaint cottages in a peaceful meadow{FAERIES}
-Frivolous and flippant and fashionable; many of them are considered “popular”
-Faeries can't lie, but that doesn't stop them at all as they skip class and pass around bottles of forbidden absinthe at prom
-Many of them have an ethereal, lighter-than-air quality about them
-They dominate the cheerleading, dance, and gymnastics teams
-Faeries wings come in all shapes and sizes; some of them have delicate, gossamer-like wings, while others have wings reminiscent of birds-of-prey
-Raw iron burns them
-Capable of manipulating light and air; many of them are quite adept at creating illusions
-Housed in glitzy, glamorous dormitories reminiscent of five-star hotel rooms-complete with spacious balconies and roof-top gardens{FIRE MAGES}
-Will be forever known as “the group without a cool name”
-Notorious for their nasty tempers and strong sense of school spirit/pride
-Good at pottery and ceramics and sculpture
-Fire mages, as their name implies, can manipulate fire (it's not a good idea to have all of them attempt a lab involving bunsen burners in a cramped, poorly-ventilated classroom-just ask Dr. T) -Weakened by water
-Tend to be fierce and feisty, although most of them have also got a strong sense of right and wrong
-Quite a few of them are in student government.
-Always the ones starting fights with kids at Villain Academy (usually werewolves)
-Their dormitories are located underneath the school's volcano (it's used to generate electricity with some wacky obscure magic that literally nobody understands){MERMAIDS}
-Conjure up legs as they come on land, though they must return to the water (which brings back their scaly tails) within twenty-four hours, or they risk suffocating to death
-Very good singers; many of them are in the Hero High choir and participate in musicals and plays
-They also dominate the swim team-Villain Academy doesn't stand a /chance/ against them
-Tend to be good at chemistry, biology, and earth science
-But they can’t do physics for the life of them
-Calc is a struggle, too
-Mermaids can manipulate water and see omens within the waves
-Some them are also capable of mesmerizing and controlling others with their haunting melodies
-Usually characterized as sly and shrewd, though there is no single mermaid “stereotype”
-Mermaids live in the lake on Hero High property
-They eat raw fish and seaweed salad
THE BAD,
{NECROMANCERS}
-Year after year, the Villain Academy student council president (usually a vampire, which pisses everybody else off) presents the witches with the award for being the “edgiest”-a title that the necromancers held for a decade, and one that they are determined to win back
-Slinking around in their black boots and black eyeliner, necromancers are Villain Academy's resident “goth” and “emo” kids; they are very morbid
-Unduly fond of tattoos and piercings
-Necromancers can raise the dead for a limited amount of time, depending on how much they sacrifice to the deities (read: demons) of the underworld
-Sacrifices of human blood work the best, especially if it's drawn from the necromancer themselves. Animal blood works alright-live animals are even better
-They are talented mathematicians, most likely due to the complex formulas and equations that they must know in order to summon the dead (which also requires pentagrams and pentacles, runes, and incantations)
-The catch to their ability is that any Raised individual, known as a “zombie”, is eventually re-claimed by death
-Necromancers live in the dungeons of Freya's Fortress{VAMPIRES}
-Characterized as suave blood-suckers who will charm their way into your heart with their powers of hypnotism and drop-dead gorgeous looks
-This is, in fact, only true for a very small portion of the vampiric population at Villain Academy (I mean, come on. Half of them haven't even gone through puberty yet!).
-Nevertheless, vampires are rather charismatic (even if they can't sit out on the senior patio; too much direct sunlight, you see)
-They run the social scene at Villain Academy, along with the witches
-Capable of shifting into bats and gifted with enhanced speed, endurance, and agility
-Also have amazing hearing and eyesight-no ugly glasses for these vamps, thank you very much
-Vampires are weakened by garlic and cannot go out in direct sunlight
-They live in the towers and turrets of Freya's Fortress
-They subsist on an iron-rich diet of human blood (though some of them are a /tad/ lacking in Vitamin D){WEREWOLVES}
-Usually hot-headed and ferociously loyal
-Werewolves stick up for each other, no matter what
-Not particularly renowned for their academic prowess
-No werewolf can resist the call of the night on a full moon
-Along with their ability to turn into an inhumanly large wolf, werewolves are also extremely strong, with senses far above those of any ordinary creature
-Though most will tell you that it's a disadvantage-especially those that pass by the boys' locker room
-Many of the werewolves are wrestlers and football players
-Silver burns them
-Every full moon, the werewolves will run through the woods, preying on anything that they can get their claws on
-Their dormitories are located in a cabin in the dark woods, about a twenty-minute walk from campus
-Werewolves eat raw meat and fresh game; they seem to hate vegetables, for some inexplicable reason{WITCHES}
-Operate within the realm of potions and spells; some have limited clairvoyant abilities
-Fond of overly Extra aesthetics (black acrylic nails, glittery black lipstick, black designer gowns, and the like)
-666 is their magic number
-Quite sneaky-it helps when one can literally shroud themselves in darkness with the right spells (especially for midnight escapades to the human world for some cheap booze; the faeries are always so stingy with the absinthe)
-Stereotyped as the less-sparkly and more goth version of faeries
-Do everything for The Aesthetic (TM)
-And out of spite, probably
-Many of them play in Villain Academy's orchestra; they're also great at chemistry and cooking
-Weakened by the sun, like most Villains
-Witches live in the ground and middle floors of Freya's Fortress
AND THE WEIRD.
{MUTANTS}
-Normal human beings who somehow obtained supernatural or superhuman abilities; usually, they were simply born with them
-Mutants are usually the first of their generation to attend either Hero or Villain Academy
-When a mutant is enrolling, the headmistress of Hero High and the headmistress of Villain Academy will get together and discuss where to place a mutant human
-The abilities of the mutants (and the social circles that they frequent) tend to vary widely, from healing to telepathy to metal-manipulation
-Mutants never have more than two or three special abilities, and are otherwise perfectly human
-They live in a modern apartment complex along the the Strip{ZOMBIES}
-These students were Raised from the dead by necromancers
-Like mutants, they are appraised by the headmistresses of the Academies before they are placed in one of the schools
-Zombies are usually sustained by either continual blood sacrifices, or, in some extreme cases, necromancers gave their lives to Raise them
-Most zombie students have at least one parent that is a necromancer
-Zombies tend to be more “zoned out” than anybody else
-They don't have any special abilities (if they were vampires, then they lose their fangs; if they were werewolves, then they can't shift anymore, et cetera)
-Though they /are/ very in-tune with the dead; some have even been known to be able to directly communicate with the dead
-Can't go out in direct sunlight (much like vampires); must be wearing SPF 50+ sunscreen along with sunglasses, hats, parasols, etc
-Physiologically-speaking, they are notoriously unstable (some of them have lost limbs just walking to class). Their skin also is, well, kinda sorta rotting 24/7. Even the best Chanel perfume can’t cover up the faint smell of death that clings to them
-Zombies live in a windowless apartment complex along the Strip, next to the mutants
-They eat brains, of any sort-rat, giraffe, human, vampire-anything works -

-Physical education classes are more reminiscent of dueling or sparring than traditional P.E. In P.E., students will put their Practical Skills classes to use as they duke it out either one-on-one or on teams (thankfully, the nurse for both schools is a mutant with a healing ability. Otherwise the students would be forced to deal with any sustained injuries the traditional way).
-Inter-Academy match-ups organized by Coach Xie (Hero, faerie) and Coach Malchior (Villain, werewolf) occur at the midpoint of each semester. These serve as midterm assessments for the students, and usually occur either in the shared football stadium (which is filled with booby traps, of course) or somewhere outside.
-The final exam for physical education is an all-out Hero vs. Villain brawl. The entire island is converted into an arena, and the professors spend months filling every nook and cranny with a nasty surprise. Seniors go first, then juniors, then sophomores, and then freshmen. -A telepath (which is /really/ useful when her students go out and do something stupid, and she's forced to clear some memories)

LOCATIONS OF NOTE
HERO HIGH: faerie cheerleaders flit through the halls, mermaids walk in dripping wet after a quick snack of silverfish and seaweed, clouds of, er, herbal substances can be seen in the restrooms (along with the dryads), and fire mages toss balls of flame at each other in chemistry class.
Hero High is modern and utilitarian, with streamlined edges and pristine white walls. Each student is given a tablet with all their textbooks already uploaded. Hero High runs on renewable energy generated through both solar panels and some wacky fire-magic that nobody really understands.
HERO HIGH DORMS

Villain classes were held in Freya’s Fortress up until the 1980s, when the headmaster decided to move into a more modern setting. The once brand-new school has seen a lot, but Headmistress Khalida is reluctant to upgrade-the werewolves will only trash the entire place within a month, anyway.
VILLAIN ACADEMY DORMS
-Necromancers live in the dungeons of Freya's Fortress, a huge, spooky-looking castle surrounded by equally spooky woods
-Vampires live in the towers and turrets of Freya's Fortress
-Werewolves live in dormitories located in a cabin in the dark woods, about a twenty-minute walk from the main school building

THE STRIP: a long line of shops and restaurants that divide the Island into two parts. At the northern end of the Strip is a pier, where the carnival/fair is located. Just beyond that is the boardwalk and the beach. Zombies and mutants live in modern apartment complexes along the Strip.

CLUB VORTEX-owned by Melantha Liu (FC: Soo Joo Park), a witch who graduated from Villain Academy ten years ago. She is rumored to be very close friends with Headmistress Tempesta Khalida, and has a reputation for blatantly disregarding the law. Indeed, Melantha holds no qualms about serving alcoholic beverages to a bunch of underage high-schoolers-and the headmistress of Villain Academy doesn’t seem to mind (“Might as well have them do the stupid shit here instead of somewhere in the human world where everyone can see them,” she says). What Headmistress Khalida does not know about, however, is the fight club in the basement of the club; Melantha saw a bunch of hot-headed teenagers with too many hormonal imbalances to make intelligent decisions and a way to make some quick cash from charging entry fees. Little did she know that it would become such a hit amongst the delinquents of Hero High and Villain Academy.

JO’S DINER-a retro, 1950’s-style diner (because no cliche high school setting is complete without one of these!) owned by Joseph (a fire mage) and Joanna (a witch) Xylia, along with their adopted daughter, a dryad named Jocelyn. All three “Jo’s” graduated from one of the Academies. Werewolves especially love their hearty fare and heaping portions, and Jo’s is especially accommodating to all kinds of students; fan favorites include iced “bloodinade” (a cool drink for vampires tinged with a hint of lemon), brain-burgers (popular with the zombies), and crispy fried conch (one of the mermaids’ favorite snacks).

SWEETGRASS-one of those hip vegan restaurants serving “infused charcoal liquid algae with spirulina magic”, probably (JK-they dont’ really serve charcoal liquid algae...I think). A tad on the pricier side, but faeries and dryads love their create-your-own salad bowls, and even vampires find their vegan blood substitute passably decent (unfortunately, there’s not really a vegan substitute for brains, much to the dismay of the zombies). Owned by an absent-minded dryad named Rosalie, but the day-to-day management is left to a brusque fire mage named Minerva.

BENJAMIN AND JEREMIAH’S-an ice cream parlor that now also serves frozen yogurt. Kinda pricey, but there are a wide variety of flavors and combinations. Plus their milkshakes are the bomb.com. Pro tip: if you’re a zombie, they’ll add brain bits to your milkshake, free of charge ;). And vampires can get blended bloodshakes, if they so desire.

MOONBUCKS-a cafe run by a vampire that serves all sorts of drinks, from frape-chiato-teas to iced cappuccinos with goat milk, a touch of magic faerie foam, and powder from cacao beans grown upside down, deep in a South American jungle. Blood-infused lattes are also a thing, as well as normal ultra-sugary tea and coffee.

CARNATION CONCOCTIONS-the most bougie and overpriced hipster vegan bullshit that you could possibly think of. Carnation Concoctions sells cold-pressed juices and smoothies/smoothie bowls made from vegan, all-natural, drug-free, non-GMO, organic, grass-fed, gluten-free, kale-infused ingredients. The stuff is craaaazy expensive, but most people can admit that it tastes great. Run by a dryad couple. Popular among Heroic students, but not so much with vampires and werewolves.

THE LIBRARY-just a generic public library for the people living on the Island and students who are tired of the libraries at the Academies.

DOWNTOWN BOOKS-a bookstore that sells everything from textbooks and manuals to stickers, stationary, sparkly gel pens, and school supplies; owned by a necromancer and a faerie. The bookstore is divided into two sections: one section is edgy and goth and probably came straight out of a cheesy Halloween haunted house, while the other half looks like a unicorn vomited overly pink, sparkly goo all over it.

THE BOARDWALK/CARNIVAL+BEACH-located on the northern coast of the Island, the beach is an especially popular hang-out amongst the mermaids, while the boardwalk is home to all kinds of overpriced touristy shops and a carnival/fair with a couple fun rides and arcade games that’s open Thursday-Sunday. Rumor has it that there’s a secret portal to the human world somewhere within the circus tents and wooden pathways, though it’s probably the best kept secret in all of Hero and Villain Academy history.

MISC INFO ABOUT THE RP UNIVERSE
-The Island is divided down the middle by the Strip, a long row of shops and restaurants and the like that ends with the carnival, boardwalk, pier, and beach at the northern end of the Island
-Heroes on the western side; Villains on the eastern
-The Island is located on a realm separate from that of Earth. There is a portal to Earth on both sides of the Island in the woods, though there is also a secret portal (most likely created by past students) in the carnival, if one is able to find it
-The location of the secret portal is usually passed from one class to another, though those who know it keep it a closely-guarded secret (wouldn’t want the professors finding out, you see. Though 10 bucks says that the headmistresses already know-Headmistress Eirisse is a telepath, after all)-After graduating from the Academies, Heroes and Villains can:
- Go to a human university and get a human job and live side-by-side with the humans (though they’ll be arrested if they reveal their true nature to humans)
- Or simply live side-by-side with humans without getting a degree. No hate, bro
- Go to Hero or Villain University. This is what most kids do (Hero and Villain University are located on the Mountain, which is another separate realm)
After University, they can:
- Work for the P.F.W.C.A (Police Force Without a Cool Acronym), which is the official police force of all non-human species
- Work for the NonGov (slang for “the Non-Human Government”. Hahaha real clever, right?). The P.F.W.C.A is part of the NonGov. Lots of administrative positions available
- Get a job with a private non-human employer. A wide variety of positions are available
- Work for a business or open a shop on the Strip
- Teach for either the Academies or the Universities
- Do research at the Universities
- Etc
-Inter-species relationships are generally frowned upon, as inter-species progeny tend to be inviable (the children end up horribly deformed and die before reaching maturity 95% of the time)
-It was once illegal to even date someone of another species

Biography: -Demetria call her Demi or you will get an evil glare, was born to a family of necromancers in the Palo Alto area of California. She learned how to raise things from her parents. Her mother studied under the Headmistress and is a phenomal necromancer. Her Father is a bit of a nerd but can still raise the dead.
Demi has only ever raised a person from the dead once and it ended badly. She doesn’t like to talk about it, but it was her brother Victor when she was 14 and he was 18. They were at the beach on holiday and Victor swam out too far and drowned. Demi brought the body back to her cottage and since her parents weren’t there she raised him. She must have done it wrong because what she raised was not her brother , it was something else entirely. He didn’t recognize her and tried to kill her. She had to kill the thing that had inhabited her brother’s body. Her parents don’t blame her but her guilt is enough. She has vowed to never raise a person again ever.
She is a health nut and loves to raise plants now especially succulents. Another favorite is flowers so she can decorate her dorm. She is mostly an outsider but floats from villain and hero groups not having a problem with most people. Demi just does not get too close to people. She does like the dryads and Darius Kim though, so that says she’s not completely anti-social.

Faceclaim: Snejana OnopkaAppearance: Jenny used to be your typical bitchy, popular, beauty queen faerie-hair like spun gold, eyes like the summer sky, and an expression of cold disdain lodged permanently on her delicate, elfin features. She had a pair of slender, gossamer-like wings that she was especially vain about-like butterfly wings, but impossibly thin and dainty, with a very ethereal quality to them. She was red Bentleys and smoky shades covering tired eyes with a pair of perfectly-glossed lips and designer shoes to match.
Nowadays, she's gotten a lot paler (deathly pale, some might say) and she's lost her wings (comes from being a zombie. Can't be avoided). Her eyes are ringed with black-perhaps it is rotting flesh (inevitable for all zombies, especially if they aren't being sustained by regular blood sacrifices)?-though her expression is just as perpetually disdainful as before. There are discolored blotches dotting her skin and bags under her eyes, which she tries to cover up with layers and layers of make-up, and something about her just seems...distant. Like she's not totally there.
Jenny's aesthetic is definitely very typical for a faerie-anything expensive and anything way too high-end for a high schooler to own is basically all she wears. Her closet is nothing but designer gowns and suicidally-high heels and pricey make-up (though it's quite frustrating how her perfume can't completely cover up how dead she smells. And her foundation and concealer never last long enough to hide the spots of rotting flesh on her face).
Likes: the wings she used to have (she was so vain about them), Cass Valentine (in the way that a wealthy heiress likes a butler who brings her tea), social media (she's the Bitchy Rich Popular Girl TM. Of course she likes social media), strong absinthe (helps take the pain away, these days. Though she's got to watch the calories), whites and pinks and pastels, designer gowns, designer shoes, designer handbags, designer anything (barring stupid things like designer pencils, of course. Wait, no-she likes designer pencils too!), she sorta liked her loyal minions but they could be annoying (AKA the underclassmen who basically worshiped her in hopes of increasing their own popularity), used to be obsessed with being popular (nowadays, she doesn't care much), her Spot on the senior patio (even Wilhelmina is too chicken to sit there without her approval), make-up, high heels, glitz and glamour, anything that's unreasonably fancy or expensive for little to no reason, being in charge or in control, feeling lighter-than-air (from hunger or from undeath-it makes no difference), successfully completing a fast, modeling (or the thought of becoming a model, anyway), people who get straight to the point (she has no patience for people who uselessly skirt around a topic), punctuality, people who have a keen eye for small, specific details, being bossy, doing what needs to be done, practicality and productivity, being obeyed without question, power and having power over others, being wanted, losing weight and going down clothing sizes, being the center of attention, being photographed
Dislikes: being a zombie, her immediate family (meaning her step-mother, father, and older sister), drab/dull colors (they're so boring), Wilhelmina Wistmore (that fucking bitch), people who can't take a fucking hint (no, you random disgusting werewolf football player-you may not have her number), gaining weight (she's deathly-afraid of it, actually), being viewed as insignificant, being "lesser" to other people, people who can't just straight-up tell her what they're trying to say (they're just...annoying), crybabies, small children (Jenny is so not the person you'd want babysitting your three-year-old), when somebody/something ruins her hair/dress/make-up/shoes/anything, really, anything she considers "cheap" (AKA anything that's not 5-star hotel quality), cheap knock-offs (she can always tell), sloppiness and messiness, the Hero High cafeteria food (the dorms are...nice. Personality: Jenny Schmidt is vain, vain, vain-that much is obvious. She's drop-dead gorgeous (quite literally, hehe...oops. Too soon?) and she knows it. She is quite notorious for her cold-as-ice stares; they're enough to send even the toughest of werewolves running. She has always quite firmly believed that it is better to be feared than loved (though she's been reconsidering this belief, nowadays), and she has always been rather haughty and aloof. Jenny is perpetually annoyed at something, though she rarely makes rash decisions because those take so much...effort. She's rather apathetic to most things, holding herself above others with a cool indifference, though there are certain subjects-such as her family-that you do not want to bring up in front of Jenny. Jenny is impossibly snooty, and really, really mean, when she wants to be (she's just generally not a very nice person), to the point of being absolutely vicious (trust me on this-werewolf claws have nothing on the metaphorical claws of teenage queen bees. Nothing).
Beneath the sheets and sheets of ice and glass that make up Jenny Schmidt, however, lies a certain deep-seated need for acceptance and validation, especially that of her step-mother and her older sister. Jenny idolizes Lavinia and Lucretia, and although she can't say that she truly loves them, she feels the need to at least make them recognize her talent. Jenny is constantly seeking their approval, and when she doesn't get it, she often resorts to rather self-destructive habits (such as water fasting for a week while going to cheer practice every single day, and consciously knowing that she will probably pass out yet going ahead with it anyway). Jenny is also very insecure about her looks, and absolutely terrified of gaining weight. Her relationship with food is definitely not healthy, to say the least.
Jenny has vowed to never show anybody that side of her, however. She hates being seen as weak or vulnerable-she hates being seen as anything other than the perfect ice queen she's presented herself as. After she was Raised from the dead, though, it's been getting harder and harder to keep her composure.
But she will try, and she will succeed. Because there's simply no other option.
Biography: "You'll need to shave two inches off your waist if you ever want to walk in a big-name show. I'm not just going to sign you on just because you're my daughter, Genevieve."
Jenny turned around, startled. She was standing in front of her floor-length mirror, topless, a measuring tape wrapped around her midsection. Her mother had somehow come in behind her without her knowledge.
Lavinia Schmidt, a world-famous supermodel (amongst the right circles, that is. Usually the non-human ones) and founder and owner of Lavinia Models, Inc. strode into the room, her icy blue eyes running critically over her daughter's slender frame.
"Stand up straight," she ordered, pressing a hand against Jenny's upper back and tilting her chin up. She examined her daughter the way that a art collector would examine a painting that they were considering adding to their collection.
Jenny waited with a bated breath.
"You've grown," her mother said, finally. "An inch? An inch and a half? What does that put you at, five-eight?"
Jenny nodded, trying not to let the eagerness show. "Five eight and a half."
Lavinia appraised her daughter, again. "You have my genes," she said. "You have the right legs and the right height. And you have my wings." She put her hands around Jenny's waist, and frowned. "But you're not thin enough. Don't let my good genes go to waste."
And with that, Jenny's mother-Lavinia Schmidt, world-famous supermodel and ice queen extraordinaire-spun on her heel and walked out of Jenny's room.
Jenny glanced at her reflection, glumly. Her mother was right. She needed to deal with her disgusting thighs and her shapeless waste. 'Two inches, she said?' Jenny thought, checking the measuring tape. 'I can do that.'
She furrowed her brow, deep in thought. She hadn't gained weight after her first year at Hero High-she'd made sure of it-but what was she eating? Too many carbs? Too much sugar? Too much booze?
Jenny slipped her gauzy shirt back on, her gossamer wings sliding easily through the openings in the back. Had her mother ever told her sister the same thing?
Lucretia-Lucy, to friends and family-was a model, too. She was over ten years older than Jenny, and everybody said that she would be as successful as her mother. She was also starting her own clothing line, and dating one of the biggest names in non-human and undead fashion: Victor Blanc, a famous faerie fashion designer.
Jenny sighed, a tad morosely. Would she ever live up to the expectations of her mother, after everything that Lucy had done?
Jenny wrinkled her nose. She didn't really like Lucy. She was too much like their mother.
Lucy Schmidt had been the most popular girl in school, when she was at Hero High. Captain of the cheer team, student council president, homecoming and prom queen...you name it, Lucy was it. Her mother decided to add Lucy to her agency's roster before she was even done with junior year, and while her peers were stressing out about exams, Lucy was flying to Paris and L.A. and Milan and Shanghai for castings and shoots. And she'd walked her first Fashion Month during high school, as well.
Jenny wrinkled her nose, again. It was so unfair. Why did Lucy get to be so perfect?
Jenny wanted to be a model. She wanted to be a supermodel, like her mom and her sister, with all her heart. And if that meant eating less chocolate, then so be it. And while most 14-year-old girls eventually give up on that aspiration, 14-year-old Jenny refused to. She would do it. She would do whatever it took to make sure that she didn't let her mother down.
"You know, Jenny," one of her "friends" at school had said, earlier that year-"have you ever considered something besides modeling?"
Jenny had thrown the other faerie her infamous ice-cold glare. "Like what?" she'd retorted, incensed. "Something lame like pottery? Isn't that what you're doing?"
The girl had turned bright, bright red, and a satisfied smirk had slipped onto Jenny's face as she strode away, gossamer wings sparkling in the sunlight.
Really, though. What was that girl even talking about? Her whole family was in the industry (save for her father-he was a plastic surgeon for all non-human species. Which was still sort of the "industry", to be frank). Her mother was a retired model and the owner of a modeling agency. Her older sister was basically a supermodel, and she was getting into fashion design, too. Her uncle was a photographer for Vogue (the human version), her aunt a booker and creative director with Victor Blanc (she'd introduced Lucy and Victor, actually), her cousins reporters and writers directly involved with both human and non-human fashion, and her great-uncle had been a successful designer himself. She had no choice beyond becoming a wildly-successful model, just like her mother and sister and cousins. And then maybe also becoming a wildly-successful designer, or actress, or dancer, or something like that.
And so Jenny cut calories and carbs. And she was kind of miserable-who wouldn't be, if your stomach literally hurt so much that just breathing sends stabs of pain through your entire body?-but she told herself that it would be worth it. It would all be worth it when her mother signed her on to her agency, when she walked her first show, when she became a star.
Just like her mom. Just like Lucy.
And in time, those two inches came off Jenny's waist. And another ten pounds dropped off her frame.
Her hair began to thin and she was always cold-it was a cold that reached all the way deep down into her bones. And she would feel hunger ricochet through her empty stomach during class, but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered except getting signed, then walking her first shows and becoming wildly successful like her sister and her mother and the rest of her entire goddamn family.
Meanwhile, Jenny's "popularity"-if you could truly call it that-soared. As she got older, she got skinnier. And it seemed like as she got skinnier, she was more popular. Never mind the fact that she couldn't even tell the girl who was supposed to be her best friend (friend??? More like frenemy) what she was going through her head. Never mind the fact that she felt like passing out after cheer practice and that sometimes she felt dizzy with hunger when she woke up. None of that was important, not compared to what her future held if she could just be perfect.
And then...sophomore year. Tensions between her mother and father had been escalating since, well, the day they got married, but after almost twenty drama-ridden years, the two of them had a very messy (and highly publicized) divorce. And her father got custody of her, and her mother basically told her to never contact her again. And there went Jenny's every hope of being signed at her mother's agency.
Fortunately, her uncle-the one who worked for Vogue UK, in the human world-was sympathetic to her plight. He made a few phone calls and encouraged Jenny to go to an open call with various modelling agencies around the human world during her junior year. Jenny took his advice, and she was on the verge of getting signed with a well-known agency when she, well, died.
Whenever Jenny thinks about how she died-by the hands of Wilhelmina Wistmore, that (literally) back-stabbing bitch-white-hot anger and scorching black rage burn inside her, clawing up her throat and choking the air out of her lungs. She wants to scream, to yell, to screech-
-but she's too...tired.
Wilhelmina had her eyes on Jenny's throne, she knows. Jenny isn't stupid. And Jenny knew that Wilhelmina burned with jealousy...but Jenny didn't much care, because she was the most popular girl in school, not Wilhelmina.
But then Wilhelmina killed her. Stabbed her in the back with a knife from who-knows-where. And what happened after she died is really kind of fuzzy, but when she next opened her eyes, she was lying on a hospital bed, wearing a thin gown in a gross shade of vomit-green, and her wings-her lovely, beautiful wings-were gone.
Jenny knows how Cassius Valentine keeps her alive. She knows what he can do. She wonders why he does it, sometimes. It's not like she was ever nice to him. It's not like she ever even noticed him. And yet, there he is, helping her stumble back to her dorm as the energy leaves her limbs, injecting some sort of life-sustaining drug into her bloodstream every evening, pouring water down her throat as she sits there with a glazed expression and lifeless eyes.
Everything is different, now. After she got out of that human hospital, Jenny went into her agency's building to take digis, but her left leg-from the knee down-straight up fell off as she was recording her walk. Now that was a messy affair; Headmistress Eirisse ended up coming in and wiping everyone's memories, before scolding her for exposing herself to the human world and taking her back to her dad's house (where Jenny subsequently found that her father had married a woman maybe 5-6 years older than her while she'd been blacked out in a human hospital).
Jenny doesn't know what she's going to do. Life without modeling is, at least to her, meaningless. She has no interest in the sciences, or mathematics, or languages. Her entire existence, up until now, was modeling. And the gods know that Lavinia Schmidt won't ever take on a model who's a zombie-even if that zombie model happens to be her daughter (who she doesn't want anything to do with, anyway).
Besides-her family is no true family. Both her father and mother know plenty of powerful and influential necromancers, after all, seeing as they're quite powerful and influential themselves.
So the question remains: why didn't they have somebody Raise her after she died?

Rumors/Romantic Interests: Before she died, Jenny knew she was basically asexual, though she dated quite a few upperclassmen when she was in 9th and 10th grade. Nowadays, Jenny has no interest in dating at all.There are definitely a ton of rumors surrounding her re-appearance, and although many students suspect Wilhelmina was the one who killed her in the first place, most people just assumed that her parents got a necromancer to Raise her. People speculate whether she and Cass are involved or not, though Jenny hasn't said anything and Cass vehemently denies it every time.
Extracurriculars: used to be the captain of the cheer team and the president of many, many clubs. Nowadays, she doesn't do much outside of go to class and accompany Cassius Valentine to whatever nerdy clubs he's in.
Favorite and Least Favorite Class: Jenny's favorite class is probably just her Drawing and Painting class, on the account of it being zero work at all. She also likes study hall, because normally she can just ditch (and if not, well, all she has to do is stare into space until the bell rights, right?). Her least favorite class is....everything else, but especially zombology (it's like bio, but for zombies. Yuck).

Dislikes: being forced to dress nicely, when he loses his glasses, the way that contact lenses make his eyes feel all itchy, stereotypical jerkish jocks, being "uncool" or "unpopular", being the odd one out, excessive social media use, annoying pop music/trashy rap songs
Personality: awkward, nerdy, geeky, perpetually nervous, very good at memorizing things, very good at analyzing/processing things from an objective point of view, pretty dense when it comes to people's feelings, has a hard time expressing himself in a coherent manner, kind-hearted, loves video games and acquiring new knowledge, shy, timid, reserved, very quiet, hates being the center of attention, gets really embarrassed really easily, comes off as extremely apologetic, rather calm and level-headed if he knows that he can handle a situation, kind of a goofball if he's around people he's familiar with, a total goody two-shoes
Biography: Cassius Valentine was born to a perfectly normal family. He has a mother and a father who are perfectly human, as well as three older sisters who are also perfectly human. His parents are unaware of the existence of non-human species and do not know that Cass is a mutant, which he is perfectly fine with. Cass discovered his abilities in middle school, and he caught the attention of the headmistresses when a news story covered his "uncanny ability" to learn new things (Cass didn't tell them that he can absorb factual information through skin-to-skin contact, though. He's not an idiot). The headmistresses told him what was going on and told him the importance of keeping his abilities a secret from his family, then sent him off to the Academies (his parents think he's at an elite boarding school on a scholarship).
Cass had always been a bit of an outcast, but at Hero High, the feeling of "not belonging" was more acute than ever. His classmates all knew each other from middle and elementary school, but Cass was an outsider coming in straight from the human world. He quickly faded into the background when the other students realized that he didn't really have much to say (nor did he have a particularly flashy ability, like Jay Zhao) and that he was a stickler for following the rules.
From the moment that Cass laid eyes on Genevieve Schmidt, he knew that he was in love-which was quite problematic, as he knew that she would never even give him the time of day. When he heard of her death towards the end of his first year at Hero High, he was devastated. This was also around the same time that his life-force transferring abilities were beginning to manifest. Cass practiced his new ability for a couple weeks, then took a chance-he managed to smuggle Jenny's body (gross, I know) through the portal into the human world, where he Raised her from the dead and called 9-1-1, saying that he found her collapsed on the side of the road while he was going out for a walk. Jenny was rushed to the nearest hospital, which happened to be the university hospital that his father worked at. Due to the fact that Cass had not completely mastered his ability to transfer life-force, it took a few weeks to stabilize Jenny's condition and another few weeks for her to wake up.
During the time that Jenny was in a coma, the doctors and medics at the hospital realized that she wasn't quite...human. Although Jenny's wings had shriveled up and died with her body, there were still slight indications of her faerie nature, especially in her DNA. Cass managed to stall and divert their questions, though he knows that his tactics will not be able to hold them off forever.
Now that he's started his second year at Hero High by accompanying an undead girl everywhere he goes, Cass doesn't know what he's going to do. He thought that Raising Jenny and having her finally notice him would make him happy, but for some reason, it's...not (Jenny doesn't really say anything to him, you see, and she doesn't seem particularly happy). In any case, Cass has no choice but to continue going forward. He can only hope that everything works out alright.

Rumors/Romantic Interests: As one can imagine, there are so many rumors that say Jenny Schmidt and Cass are dating (and Cass doesn't really know what they are, and he doesn't want to put a "label" on it until Jenny says something, you know? If she ever does say something?). Some students believe that Cass had a hand in Raising her, which makes Cass nervous. Other students believe that he stole a love potion from a witch and gave it to Jenny, which is why she stays with him. It's all very dramatic and tangled up and Cass just really doesn't want to deal with it right now.Extracurriculars: An inter-Academy gaming club (there are like two members, including him) and various other nerdy pursuits (coding club, robotics, etc)
Favorite and Least Favorite Class: Computer science (it just makes sense, you know?) is his favorite, while Physical Education is his least-favorite (his ability isn't very, well, useful, in such a class)Class Schedule:

Species: Fire mage (well, half fire mage and half human)

Appearance: Most people are surprised to learn Kenna’s only 5’5”. Between her personality and general, intimidating aura, she comes off as a lot taller. Her human peers were also convinced her vibrant red hair color came out of a bottle. There were a few time when she was younger that she tried to dye it brown or black, but at the Academy, she’s relieved to learn she shares the color with other fire mages. Oftentimes, the tips of her fingers are dyed black with soot from work on different spells. As for Kenna’s look, it’s very inspired by her father’s work. Her closet contains a mix of inspirations, from classic rock to nineties grunge. Lots of leather, denim, and flannel - all covered in various spikes and patches that she’s sewn on herself.Likes: dark nail polish, Nadia (shh), barbecued food, her father’s band, the fear in people’s eyes when they see her walk into a room, collecting new patches for her jackets, vintage muscle cars, the smell of burning matches, music festivals (and concerts in general), bad horror B-movies, inorganic chemistry and thermodynamics, rigging lighters to produce larger flames, discovering new music, “Carmila” and GirlShipTV and most WLW Youtubers/Youtube shows, making old-fashioned mixtapes
Dislikes: musicals, people who do nothing but complain, bug bites, feeling like she doesn’t belong, when shows kill off queer characters, the beach, getting soot stains on her clothes or straight up burning them, homesickness, people chewing with their mouths open, the story of how she found out about her powers, slow wifi connections, tension headaches, when she has to wear glasses, spiders (they’re creepy, okay?), winter/cold weather, grape-flavored things, repetitive music, conforming in generalPersonality: Kenna can come of as a little…intimidating. And that’s on purpose. Kenna’s found that she doesn’t like most people and she’s perfected her deterrent method in her style of dress and glare. She likes to think of it as something akin to a poison dart frog’s warning colors. Kenna doesn’t speak much, even with those she considers herself close to. When she does, it’s to the point. With her resting face, it would appear that Kenna’s always mad. Not true; she’s only angry most of the time. Like her magic, Kenna’s temper runs hot. She’s never provoked without a reason, but other emotions (such as frustration, with herself and others) can also lead to anger. Without a target, Kenna occasionally takes this out on others. She nearly always feels sorry afterwards, but she’s a little too proud to apologize. Speaking of, Kenna can hold a grudge for years. Her memory is freakishly good, not just when it comes to slights. She’s also got a nonconformist streak a mile long and always questions authority. Now that she’s actually found a place she wants to fit it, she’s finding it harder than ever.
Biography: Kenna’s life has never exactly been normal. According to her father, her mother suddenly appeared in his house one day to give him full custody. The last time he’d seen her, he hadn’t even known she was pregnant; they’d just suddenly broken up one day and that was the end of it. But Jun-Ho Kang quickly fell into the role of father, doing all he could to raise his child. The reason Kenna’s childhood was so unusual has to do with her father’s career and the fact that he’s the bassist in the rock band, Von Brandt. Sure, he also does translation and transcription work online, but he considers the band his main job. And Kenna considers him the coolest guy in the world. Now that he’s older, the band doesn’t really tour much, but they play plenty of gigs in their hometown of Minneapolis, where they’re pretty much local heroes.
Between joining them on the occasional tour and the atmosphere in which she grew up, Kenna became a free-spirited and opinionated young girl. She was bullied a lot when she was younger, but that changed towards the end of elementary school. By then, she’d learned how to turn people back with a single look and started dressing like the members of her father’s rock band. While she didn’t have many friends at school, she could always count on the other two daughters of the band, Nadia Zarouq and Darby McMahon (FC: Adut Aketch and Sara Grace Wallerstedt). Despite being in different schools, they met up often and told each other everything.
Until this past summer. Right around the time school was getting out…something happened. Something Kenna doesn’t want to talk about. Then something even stranger happened; her mother showed up. Now Kenna not only knows who her mother is, but why she disappeared without a word - and being a fire mage isn’t even the half of it. Kenna was transferred into the Academy on a rush where, despite her age, she’s a freshman all over again.
All her life, Kenna’s felt like she never really belonged, and that’s because she didn’t belong in the mortal world. She’s spent her whole life actively rebelling against society and now that she’s in a place where she wants to be accepted, she’s finding it harder than ever. She has a lot of catching up to do, both in class and out. Half the time, it feels like everyone around her is laughing at some joke and she happens to be the punchline. She’s frustrated all the time, and when she’s frustrated- well, at least there’s a fight club for her to burn off all her anger (literally). Then there’s the matter of keeping her parentage secret from her magic friends and her magic secret from her mortal friends. This is about to be one very interesting year.OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Rumors/Romantic Interests: Has a crush on Nadia Zarouq (FC: Adut Aketch), the daughter of another member of her father’s band and her childhood friend. Her feelings appear to be mutual, but not being able to tell Nadia about all this new magic stuff is starting to make things complicated. Well, then there’s the fact that she’s, by heritage, only half fire mage. (Then there’s the fact of just who her mother is in the first place.)

Appearance: She’s not your average Fae. She’s always wearing black, it’s very rare you’ll see her sporting any color. Lots of earrings and cool vintage pieces. Her aesthetic is a cross between grunge and hipster. She has huge dark grey wings that fit her personality and style.
Likes: Loves music, juice boxes, secretly obsessed with 1D only Gwen knows about this, sports, working out, shopping at thrift stores, finding cool vintage artifacts, wearing crop tops, belts, leather, anything and everything dark, watching Gwen wins fights, the feeling she gets right before a big cheer meet, cheering surprisingly
Dislikes: Bitchy annoying people, loud mouth though she has one but doesn’t like to admit it, any bright neon colors, overly preppy cheerleaders, people who try too hard to impress her, any chocolate candy, ribbons, cake, horror movies.. they are utterly cliche, going on double dates or blind dates for that matter, surprises
Personality: Eden can never be serious. She’s always cracking jokes and pulling pranks, mostly on the popular stuck up heros. Though she is also a hero she tends to hang more with the populars of Villain Academy. She’s feisty and has a vicious tongue. Getting in her way is a huge mistake. If you do it’s a mistake you will never make again. Though she is super tough and sassy on the outside, she is actually very sensitive and soft. She has a tough skin that only her closest friends and family can penetrate.
Biography: Co-Captain of the cheer squad and self proclaimed badass, best friends with Gwen, trouble maker for the faeries. She actually can’t stand most of the faeries. Though she does however have a spot on the cheerleading team. Whether the other faeries like to admit it or not she’s an amazing athlete. Eden does actually get along with her fellow faeries though she is a bit.. shall we say off. She loves dark things and loves hanging out with her Villian Academy friends. Her best friend is in fact a witch. Eden’s parents love to joke that she was born as the wrong species and Eden couldn’t agree more. Her differences don’t stop her from being loved by the rest of the school though. She’s actually very popular among both schools. She’s super sassy and loves to play pranks on many of her friends. Some say Eden likes to sneak around with the witches and vampires. Rumor has it that she’s got a little attraction to the dark side, as some would say.Rumors/Romantic Interests: No one has caught her eye yet but if they are going to it will definitely have to be a villain. Innocent hero types don’t do it for her. Though some of the vamps do seem interested. Who knows maybe she’ll have some fun. Though most would consider this less a rumor and more common knowledge, Eden loves to sneak off with her group of villain friends. Their usual hangout is the rooms attached to the secret fight club. Members use these rooms to practice. The son of the owner is one of her friends so they have 24 hour access to all the equipment and rooms.
