Drafts not saving correctly?

I've been having trouble saving certain drafts recently. For some reason, there are two version of one draft in my saved drafts. (Interestingly, they're not identical and appear to be from different stages in my editing process.) Also, one of my other drafts has completely disappeared. It wasn't published either.
Is there a maximum number of drafts that can be saved at one time? Or is there something else I can do in the future to prevent this from happening?
