We're planning to hit several major European cities this spring, starting with Milan. Want to see the medieval architecture, check out some of the fashion boutiques, catch a show at the opera house, all that good stuff. Where's the best spot to rent a car for getting around the city?

Milan's got that mix of old and new that makes wandering around worth it, the Duomo alone takes up half a day if you actually go inside. Traffic in the center can be brutal though, especially near Galleria Vittorio Emanuele where all the luxury shops are. Local rental spots scattered around the city usually have better rates than the chains at Malpensa airport, you just need to get yourself there first. Some agencies near the train stations work well if you're coming in by rail.

Every corner in that city seems to have something worth stopping for, whether it's a random church or some alley with cafes that look like they've been there since the Renaissance.
