Are You Guilty??? I am! 😳

  • Twisted Gypsies

@joeanne I know, right? I think it's because we're all artists, whether we consider ourselves that or not. We all appreciate art, find art in life, and feel compelled to create. That requires emotional depth, so of course, the side of us that feels (which is what helps us to create art and to appreciate it) can also 'empathize' with others here, knowing how important it is to connect with one another, to give and get feedback, etc. I simply need to balance this better, and I feel I've done all I can do on my end other than stop participating in groups, which I do not want to do.

@DianneC has a good attitude on it. And I have to confess that because she does not comment as often, when she does, I feel quite happy about it. It seems more "special" to me because she has taken a little time and attention and spent it on a set of mine. Not once did I ever consider who does and does not leave comments; on Sets or in Contest Win Posts/Notifications. Not once. Yet, somehow, my mind keeps track and when I see a comment from @DianneC, I take notice BECAUSE she isn't a "constant communicator" which is totally fine!!!

So why do I feel badly if I 'ignore' all the filler and just enjoy UrStyle MY WAY and participate in the social "obligatory" interactions when I feel moved to? Because we're artists, dammit. And we're sensitive. And we truly like one another and don't want anyone feeling left out, overlooked, unappreciated, etc. I think that a THANK YOU Set every so often, dedicated to followers and friends MAY help this, but then again, if we all start doing that, then we're doing the same thing just in a different way. This is why I say I feel I've done all I can do other than stop (or rather; change) the way I participate. So I beseech UrStyle to let me out of my self-imposed prison and give us those buttons! 🙏

@auntiehelen I have gone to such lengths, that I created a folder on my browser bar containing bookmarks of all contests I'm currently participating in, which I keep in chronological order (ending soonest first) and move/delete as the contests end. I have "sections", such as those that are ending very soon, those with more than a week left, and those I'm done with; in that I either submitted all the number of sets allowed and/or am happy with what I've submitted and wish to move on to something else. Very OCD of me, but it's just too much to do it any other way!

  • It's Your Imagination

@funkyjunkygypsy I'm impressed! I'm too spontaneous to follow a list muchless make one! I DO wish that the contest list menu listed the contests by groups we are in. Would make it much easier to find them.

  • Twisted Gypsies

@laughingdog Perhaps my little graphic will nudge them in the right direction... 😉

  • It's Your Imagination

@funkyjunkygypsy Do you think they are LISTENING? LOL. ~No doubt they hang out in the shadows...

  • For the Love of Animals

I kind of don't understand! Believe me I miss plenty of contest and notifications take up a lot of my time. But didn't everyone ask to be able to "Reply" to comments and @admin did that and now you want a "Like" button instead of being able to reply?

  • Art Expression

@FunkyJunkyGypsy I understand your frustration, but I'm a bit confused as everyone seemed to be asking for a way to reply to comments. I personally enjoy reading my comments and leaving comments, but I do not respond to any and I don't waste time going back to other people's sets to see they wrote "thank you"! So please to all no need to thank me if I leave you a comment - it means I really was intrigued by your set and I'm sending you appreciation. Additionally as a moderator, I do not make separate group announcements on winners in a blog - I do that under my group forum page so congratulating winners is a one time deal.. I am here for fun and creating and I enjoy chatting with my friends and it never feels like a "job". I hope you can find a good balance, excellent idea for a "like" button! Regards, xx Hope

  • For the Love of Animals

I do the same with my group. I congratulate in the annoucement and not the individual sets. I also make a trophy set, so it seems redundent to go to the individual sets.

  • @FunkyJunkyGypsy
It's hard as somedays when my depreatssion is too bad I just can't manage anything other than creating, as it allows me to just escape into whatever I'm doing and I don't have to really think.
Part of the reason I first joined Poly was because of the position I found myself in in my old relationship, Poly and creating gave me peace in the time I was creating and that's what it does for me when I'm in those dark places.
Please don't think I like socializing with anyone becasue I do but at times I can't and sometimes I just want to create. Like you I'd still like to chat when the urge takes you or I or as well as anyone else.
So YES to that star please Urstyle!!!
Hope my head is in the right space and you can understand my ramblings lol.
    Hugs your friend Jo xx

I too enjoy reading comments and commenting on sets. At times, a “Like” button would be a quick, easy way to let someone know I read and appreciate a comment they’ve left for me, kind of like the “upvote” feature.

Conversely, when I leave comments, if the artist was able to “like” my comment, it would let me know that they read it and liked it. No pun intended. For instance, when someone wins a contest in a large group… People will congratulate them, which is very supportive. If there was a “like” button, the winner would not have to hit “reply” to each person who’s congratulated them (one person at a time), type a “thank you”, click to submit and repeat. A quick “like” on each person’s congratulatory comment would act as a ‘thank you’.

As far as what I said about checking when people respond to comments I've left on their sets, I think this is where the confusion lies. I tend to make remarks when thanking people for their comment on a set I’ve made -- and sometimes people respond to those remarks. A great ‘for instance’ is the conversation that @kateolive and I are having on one of my sets right now, LOL! https://urstyle.fashion/styles/2412747

  • Art Expression

@FunkyJunkyGypsy I already get where you are coming from as in my original post I said a like button was a great idea. Me not taking time to go back and read that someone thanked me is my personal decision. I'm here to have fun! xx Hope

  • For the Love of Animals

@FunkyJunkyGypsy Can you clarify something for me, because not that it's hard to do but I totally got confused in what you said to @artgivesmelife. You want the "Like" button to respond to acknowledge comments, right? I read @artgivesmelife comment and she also said that a "like" button was an excellent idea! We asked to be able to reply, now we're asking for a like button, we're women admin should get use to us wanting more. lol

  • Twisted Gypsies

@artgivesmelife Same here, and I totally understand. Thanks! 😘

You got it! Exactly. Maybe I should re-read my response and make it a bit clearer. Thanks for letting me know it's confusing -- but yes, you do understand me correctly. I want MORE! LOL! (Sometimes a solution to one problem creates another.) 🙃

  • Twisted Gypsies

@artgivesmelife I think/hope I clarified my comment (above) and yeah, I agree about not going back to read that someone thanked you. ☺

@rboowybe I hope I explained myself more clearly, my friend!

@FunkyJunkyGypsy yes I knew what you meant - if I'm having a discussion of course I go back, but mostly it is a simple thank you, which is lovely, but I don't need anyone taking time from their day to thank me for leaving a comment lol. I just think you have a good point with the like button - if I confused YOU, sorry haha

  • Twisted Gypsies

    @artgivesmelife I confused myself, LOL! 😘

  • For the Love of Animals

@FunkyJunkyGypsy You did clarify! Thank u sweetie!

  • Twisted Gypsies

    @rboowybe My pleasure!
