Net-a-porter

Anyone notice how much net-a-porter website has changed. I used to love clipping from there but now there is this weird grey background. Some items will show up without the background and others will keep the grey background. I came upon and article in "Business of Fashion" that mentioned something about their tech change but had to be a member to read the whole thing. Anyone have any insight? Curious.

@fashionmonkey ~ I have not read the article, but I just went to the site and it has changed somewhat. Each item of clothing has the background, but it does not change anything that you upload via the clipper. I always change every item to png, so the background does not bother me. You can still use as is in Urstyle. I have noticed that background in several fashion websites. The only difference is the "eye appeal" is lost with the background.

@fashionmonkey I noticed that too but I wanna know why as well!!
It is frustrating, I hate the grey background and it’s hard to avoid it when styling on Urstyle even when choosing the item without background it will fade or it will be bigger than the outer frame.. well I’m gonna choose mythersa or moda oparandi -
@fatenmh @FashionMonkey ~ The background goes away once you add it to your items, or use the clipper. Here is the link to a coat I just added.

@beverly Thank you dear so much

@beverly @FatenMH Hi Beverly. Thank you for your feedback.
Some will change and others will not. The way I create my sets I don't use png very often, usually cropping and that will keep the grey. Unfortunate. Like this item https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/1245048/proenza_schouler_white_label/printed-pleated-crepe-midi-skirt

@FashionMonkey ~ I just uploaded a few more and the background was not there. However, a plaid skirt had the background. So strange! Must have something to do with the colors. We can work around it.

It could be that they don't want others flipping or importing their items . Do you all read the terms on these fashion sites. I know some home sites don't want you to use their items especially if their is no link back to their page

@beverly Please tell me how to change items to png. It would save me so much time and frustration. Thx

I've noticed that as well! I'd wondered if there was a new editor in, or if they were specifically trying to keep their images from being used as often on sites like this. Time will only tell I suppose...
