    MEREDITH LANGENBERG, 25
    (21 March 1993)

    Full Name: Meredith Alexandra Langenberg
    Nicknames: Mer
    Hometown: San Francisco, California
Current Residence: Dubai, United Arab Emirates (she’s currently there for a job)

Education:  Graduated at Regent’s University London in Interior Design
    Occupation: Interior designer for hire

Likes: Her yacht (her family is very wealthy after all), travelling, architecture, fashion, red lipstick enthusiast, wine, playing the piano, keeping her body in shape, relaxing by the sea, safaris
Dislikes: fake friends (and she has met many of them along the way), cheap designers, cockroaches (no offence but…who even likes cockroaches? lol), not having her hair done, not being able to get what she wants

Personality: she doesn’t open up to people easily, you have to gain her trust, so she can come off a bit as aloof; this is mostly a mechanism of self-defence: a lot of people want to get close to her because of her family and not because they’re actually interested in being her friend. She can’t stand people who think she gets jobs just because she’s Langenberg’s daughter (yes, that happened a couple of times, but she’s actually a very skilled designer). She is trying to distance herself from her family because she doesn’t want to be just “Langenberg’s daughter”, she’s Meredith Alexandra Langenberg, a promising young interior designer and a woman who can make it on her own (but she knows very well that being born in a loaded family allowed her to do a lot of things). Despite this whole distancing thing, she loves her parents.
She wants only the best…of everything, so she can also come up as snobbish at times. At first glance you probably think she’s your typical spoiled rich girl: that’s only because she’s a bit wary, but once you get to know her (or: once she lets you get to know her) she’s actually fun and can even joke around.
Nobody messes with her: get in her way and she will put you in your place.

Biography: Born in San Francisco, California, she’s the daughter of the German entrepreneur Günther Langenberg (CEO of an extremely succesfull company) and English opera singer Abigail Palmer.
Even though her father is a very busy man, he always made time for his only daughter and he talked to her in German from the day she was born, so she is bilingual. One of the best memories Meredith has of him is when he took her (it was a dad-daughter trip for her eighth birthday and he had to think of something special as Abigail was touring) for a safari in Africa; every now and then she goes back there.
Meredith’s mother is a kind woman who worked really hard to become who she is now. She loves music and has thought Meredith how to play the piano.
Both of her parents travel a lot because of their jobs but before Mer was born they settled in San Francisco, California, so that makes Meredith an American girl.
She wasn’t homeschooled because her parents didn’t want her to; during her high school years something happened, an “accident” involving ambulances and hospitals and Meredith’s name was made…but nobody really knows what happened and, anyway, nobody says a thing.
Mer’s passion for interior design took her to London: she studied hard and now is a rising interior designer star; she was also featured on a couple of magazines.
Going to school made her realise how shallow people can be: she got close to this girl once and they became best friends, only to find out that that girl was just using her because of her family’s wealth.
And let’s not talk about boyfriends: most of them were sons of people who wanted to become Günther Langenberg’s business partners, so why not dating his daughter?
She actually had a decent boyfriend and dated for three years, but eventually broke up with him when he proposed — drunk — at a party.
She laid low for a while: no friends, no boyfriends, nothing, untile one day she met William. Something clicked and, for the first time in her life, she found someone who was actually interested in her as Meredith and not as Langenberg’s daughter. The two of them became really close and the feelings she felt for him eventually grew into something more.
Not long ago she met Hannah (-> where and how? TBD with the person who plays as Hannah) […] and Mer decided to introduce her William. (-> TBD: how did they meet?)
When Meredith found out Hannah and William were getting married after only sixth months they knew each other, she felt lowkey bitter over it. But after all, both Hannah and William didn’t know anything about it, she never said a word to anyone, right? So, what’s the issue…?

    HANNAH RINGWALD, 24
    (October 3rd, 1993)

    Full Name: Hannah Elizabeth Ringwald
    Nicknames: Han, Han-Han, Hanny, Mom
    Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts
    Current Residence: Brooklyn, New York

Education: Graduated last spring with her Masters of Science in Accounting and Fundamental Analysis from Columbia
Occupation: New hire at Kiwi Partners, which specializes in helping the nonprofit community with all their accounting, consulting, and human resources needs
(Didn’t want to step on the audition for Barbara so I thought that they could have been coworkers at the place Hannah just left? That way their audition can decide where.)

Likes: math and how numbers just make sense, the swept-her-off-her-feet love story she has with her fiancé, walking through parks, rosé, New England accents, talking fast, photos of her father, her parents’ love story, planning her dream wedding, reading, getting mani-pedis with her friends, girls night out, traveling
Dislikes: the tight budget that is putting a damper on some aspects of her vision, children, New York traffic, problems that can’t be solved with numbers or logic, beer, not seeing her friends for a long period of time, how her dad can’t walk her down the aisle, watching sports on tv (but she can handle in person because the atmosphere is fun), waiting in long lines

Personality: Every group ends up with their own version of The Mom Friend, and for the Core Five, that’s Hannah Ringwald. Hannah has been taking care of people her whole life; she has a hard time letting go of control. While she likes to pretend that she can be easy going because she is not as high-strung as her older sister, there is no denying that she is still an uptight girl. But everyone will thank her Type-A, calculate-for-all-possible-errors personality later when the wedding goes exactly according to plan and nothing goes wrong. (Or so she likes to believe.) Hannah still listens well to others, sometimes even too well given how easily she can sway to her friends’ peer pressure. She just wants everyone to be happy, which can sometimes mean bending over backwards for others when she shouldn’t. As the group mom, she also tends to be the peacekeeper between any tiffs. Hannah is diplomatic and urbane, as well as nurturing, romantic, and charming. Her flirty nature has gotten the entire Core Five into trouble more than once, but it has done especially detrimental numbers on Hannah. Before Liam, she thought her love life was doomed. And now that she is giving herself fully to the whims of passion, she couldn’t be more excited for the rest of her life to begin. But some may say this is just another Hannah Ringwald moment of being much too self-indulgent...

Biography: Hannah is the second daughter to Patrick and Isabelle Ringwald, but she was only five years old when her father unexpectedly passed away in a car accident. While their strong and independent mother raised both girls with plenty of love and good intentions, it was not always blissful. She is a conservative woman with high expectations that Hannah desperately wants to meet, which can sometimes be a crushing pressure.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Hannah, in turn, has also always worried about her mother. She never dated after their father’s death. She poured herself into her career and raising her daughters, which left little room for caring for herself. Hannah still doesn’t see the reflection in her own life — being so worried about others that you neglect your own happiness. But Hannah believes in soulmates, and she often thinks that is why her mother never dated again. The story of how her parents met and fell in love was her favorite bedtime story; it has inspired her to find her own romantic adventure since she was a little girl.
⠀⠀⠀⠀She would be crushed if she knew the truth — that her parents had no fairytale story and were really on the brink of a divorce. In Isabelle’s mind, her children were so young when they lost their father. All they would have of him would be stories and memories. She wanted them to only think the best of him, regardless of the poor actions and bad decisions he had been making near the end of his life. Creating the perfect love story seemed like the best way to help them cope, as well as give them a piece of him forever. While Isabelle sometimes regrets it now, she has stood by the intricate lie. There is no telling how crushed Hannah would be if she learned the truth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀The Ringwald girls never lived an incredibly luxurious life, but they also had everything they needed. Sure, some of Hannah’s more affluent cousins mocked her for attending public school, but what did she care? Regardless of how much she paid to attend high school, she had big plans for herself. When Hannah had a list of goals and paths on how to get there, she felt invincible. She rowed competitively for years, and while it was never something she was passionate about, she poured her energy into it because she knew a scholarship would make or break her ability to attend a more expensive university. High school was always about getting into a great college. Between rowing, extracurriculars, and AP classes, Hannah never had time for something as silly as a rebellious stage. She would feel way too guilty acting out anyway. Her mom didn’t deserve that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀The arrival of the crisp, pristine Columbia envelope was the answer to all her dreams (and her mother’s prayers). With her position on the rowing team, she could truly afford her acceptance to their accounting program.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Since so much of her life was devoted to just getting to college, Hannah found herself lost upon arrival. She had never drank alcohol before, and she had a hard time developing friendships with her peers. While she had her team, there was little in common with them outside rowing. She thought all she would find at Columbia was fulfillment and happiness, but she was only lonely and jaded. So when her sort-of-friend-roommate recommended they let loose in St Tropez for Spring Break, Hannah was hesitant. Would it be another week of being the awkward kid in the corner? But eventually she caved, and that week changed her life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Five girls from all over with a range of personalities were booked in the same room as a fluke, but after a week of drinking until puking (Hannah really didn’t know her tolerance back then), singing along to horrible music, and laughing until they cried, they found themselves hanging out even back at Columbia. Their friendship was inseparable from them on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀The Core Five gave Hannah boisterous confidence. She finally learned how to do all of the important things — like a keg stand, rolling a joint, and climbing over bar fences to avoid the cover. While she doesn’t remember every night, she is thankful for how her friends finally taught her how to live a little. She was there to care for them through every wild and calm moment, and they were there when she gave her heart to another boy, only to have it shattered again. Hannah thought maybe it was just bad luck at first, since she hadn’t dated around in high school and hadn’t “learned the rules of the game.” But love proved itself to be an elusive hope that she couldn’t seem to stop chasing. She never seemed to learn.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Having enjoyed everything about Columbia once she met her friends, Hannah decided to earn her masters there as well. Despite her various efforts to find a man that would treat her right, The Core Five continued their ritual of ice cream, rosé, and game nights to keep Hannah from crying alone in her bed over another fuckboy. In fact, the last time they did so was hardly seven months ago. When Hannah mentioned barely a month later that she had fallen in love at first sight, Monica was already on the lookout for a good coupon for Ben & Jerry’s.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Hannah is a calculator. She is picky but still an optimist. That’s why everyone was shocked not only when William proposed after just six months of knowing each other but to the fact that their overthinking, inflexible Hannah said yes.
She seems to have thrown her usual caution to the wind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Hannah very openly calls Liam “The One” and praises how she found her “soulmate.” While her friends have been whispering among themselves about her maybe being knocked up or pressured for some other reason, there seems to be a consensus as equally as shocking as the engagement: Hannah actually means it. And Liam seems...not bad? (The Core Five jury is still deciding that one, but he seems to be ticking all the boxes so far.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀At first, Hannah thought about having a small, intimate bridal party, but when it came to narrowing down her list, she just couldn’t bear to do so. She has a special bond with all of the girls she has chosen to “drag” down to St Tropez. Now it has turned into a big white wedding with a slew of girls next to her at the alter, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. With the love of her life, her friends, and her carefully organized binder, nothing could go wrong.

*** Since her older sister is also playable, I tried to be very conscious about leaving some things vague and/or flexible. I do have a lot plotted for their parents, but that doesn’t have to be set in stone. If there ends up being a sister audition and if I get this role, I will happily discuss the details and assign them in a way where we are both happy. Please know that anything I have that also impacts the sister can be changed if you are the sister and want to take things a different route. I’m open to all ideas!

  • Hey guys, I'm really excited that you are interested in Girls Trip! Something that I forgot to mention in the description is that all the girls were residing in NYC for their college days and attending Columbia University.

  • The PACT a roleplay!

    @spacelava
Barbara as well? since she's older and only a coworker does she have to attend columbia as well?

  • @expiredsunshine she's someone Hannah met through work so it's not mandatory for her to have attended Columbia - unless of course you want her to.

  • 0_1530042576858_5bd51ba4-a878-4182-887c-f4a8ad396336_original.png NAME, AGE Elizabeth Grant, 24
    August, 4 1993

    Full Name: Elizabeth Faye Grant
    Nicknames: Bizzy
    Hometown: Asheville, North Carolina
    Current Residence: Manhattan, New York

Education: BA in Communications and Creative Writing from Columbia, University
Occupation: works at a real estate firm doing their communication and social media

Likes: partying, her job on most days, lavender scented candles, margaritas, binging shows on Netflix, small dogs, reading, writing her many unfinished novels, cleaning at 3am, cookies and cream ice-cream
Dislikes: her strict parents, gardening, rice pudding, writers block, being single, snapchat filters, baggy jeans on guys, watermelon flavored anything, cats, math

Personality: She is very outgoing and the life of the party. She is wild and crazy at times but knows when to pull in the reins like with her parents. She is loyal to her friends and would do anything for them. She can be stubborn most of the time. She hates to be single but is afraid of commitment. She bites her nails when she is nervous.

Biography: Elizabeth grew up in Asheville North Carolina to a Baptist preacher and a school teacher. She went to private schools and was very sheltered until college at Columbia University.
Elizabeth never even had a drink until her freshman year of college. She quickly became the party girl though and as guys would call her “The fun one” She would hook up with guys and when they got too serious she would cut them loose. She saw what a marriage looked like and didn’t want to turn into her parents.
Her parents are truly great people but are strict believers and Elizabeth just isn’t. She believes in God, and prays every night to this day but she doesn’t see the point in being this extremely religious person anymore. That is until her parents come to visit then she is the prim and proper little angel they remembered.
Elizabeth had a plan for herself and so far nothing is on track. She lives in this tiny apartment in New York, working at a real estate firm and hasn’t written anything substantial in over a year. Maybe this wedding is what she needs, a break from the normal. She was a little surprised the first of the core 5 getting married would be Hannah but shes happy for her. Who knows this aventure might be what she needs to cure her writer’s block.

    ELIZABETH GURUSKY, 24
    (August 7th, Leo)

    Full Name: Elizabeth Norma Gurusky
    Nicknames: Lizzie, G-Money, Flora
    Hometown: Amherst, Massachusetts
Current Residence: New York, New York

Education: Columbia University (Archeology, minor Political Science), currently working on finishing up Grad school, hopes to get a PhD.
    Occupation: Curation intern, AMNH

Likes: manhattans, people making fun of her, getting invited to upper class gigs, heels, anything glamorous, a good old fashioned PBR, supporting her buds, taking friends out, take-out, science, old things, national geographic, collecting animal bones, cool evenings, people watching in Central Park, beer, playing bartender, weddings (open bar only), bubble bath, stealing hulu passwords, traveling, sex.
Dislikes: still paying money to go to school (currently attending grad school for, reflecting on high school, having to ask her parents for financial support, how costly drinking is, the double life she leads, waking up with a hangover, trying to validate some of the bullshit her friends try to pull, the idea of being tied down at 24, when her parents give her a curfew when she's visiting them, airplanes, pets, her allergy meds.

Personality: Was, and always has been...a party girl. The life of the party, with plenty of issues up her sleeve but she tries her best to keep afloat and stay focused on supporting her friends. There are two sides to Elizabeth Gurusky, and one is rarely seen around friends aside from those closest to her. Was always weirdly good at school, despite starting to drink around 17 and continuing to even now. Positive, not so easily overwhelmed by everyday frustrations. Stubborn, loyal, weirdly patient all things considered, adventurous, cunning, affectionate, incredibly reliable...she WILL drive three hours to bring you a tampon if you're desperate. Rowdy with her friends, reserved in private, playful. Can be totally insensitive about personal issues.

Biography: (y'all know i suck @ bios so this is a mix of actual character shit and headcanons)
💫 The origin of her name. Listen, it's important to her. Listen, her parents banged one night in their Astrophysics lab and they were sitting next to a book on Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille and a week later Adana found out she was pregnant. They named her after some 18 century scientists constellation discovery. It's cute or whatever, but the story hasn't aged well.

    • Science may as well been the families religion, since just about everything in her families life revolves around it. She was always successful in her mathematics and science courses but that rebellious streak still slipped out.
    • Doesn't talk about her families financial situation but the Gurusky's are incredibly well off...though they're the sort of well off that still lives in a town house and avoids eating out as much as possibly. Being rich always made her immensely uncomfortable, even now.
    • Chose to attend Columbia since it has one of the better Archeology programs, ended up having a serious love hate relationship with it but she can boast about the fact that she single handedly brought the party to her department.
    • Low key has street cred, everyone who knew her in passing was surprised she stayed enrolled but she managed to keep a 4.0 GPA for all four years except her last term when she got a D in a Core art class.
    • She really is that girl who parties hard...like HARD but still manages to stay afloat, though it seems with age the bounce back might be growing more and more challenging.
    • The sort of shallow popular you always strive to be, but soon realize isn't up to snuff. In Hannah and the rest of the core five she found a solid group of friends but her partying ways often led to less then valuable connections (but as she'll mention, a lot of great sex).
    • Met Hannah in a Statistics course her sophomore year and while reluctant to become too close ended up finding a best friend for the ages in the Accounting major.
    • Frequently sees her father as part of her job, tot he point where she keeps a change of clothes in the corner of her shared office just in case
    • She was always one of the few people who could keep up with Hannah, made more impressive by all the binge drinking she did on week days (and how the hell did she get GOOD weed in NY?).
    • Thinks Hannah is making the wrong decision about getting married so quickly, but is overwhelmingly happy for her friend since that sort of romantic stability hasn't been part of Elizabeth's life.
    • Has recently started seeing a colleague at AMNH, Dan (fc; Steven Yeun) but is struggling with balancing yet another relationship between her many worlds. But he might also be the first person who can get her to enjoy herself without a shot (or three).
    • Thought Hannah was bullshitting her when she asked if she'd be maid of honor. Some of the other girls have expressed their concern but it's only motivating Elizabeth more. For every bit of gossip, and snide comment from a co-worker...Elizabeth tries to out do herself and that may end up being her downfall.
    • Elizabeth really isn't ready for the real world. But thats an existential crisis for another day.
    • Has always had a penchant for fashion, and even when she was throwing herself drunkenly onto

🌿 hasn’t really changed much since her college days
🌿 her parents are super strict so whenever they are around she living a double life where she’s prim and proper and doesn’t have an alcohol dependency
🌿 Hannah’s unlikely best friend and her future maid of honor
🌿 during her college years she was known for her hardcore partying (obviously) and that one time hooked up with this famous Swedish DJ.

TDLR; She's like a weird combination of the Isla Fischer and Kirsten Dunst character from Bridesmaids. Somehow manages to be the head bitch in charge but ALSO the one so drunk she can barely stand.

    𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐄 𝐙𝐇𝐀𝐎, 𝟐𝟖
    (june 15th, 1990)

    Full Name: Stephanie Zhao
Full Chinese Name: Jiao Mei Zhao
    Nicknames: Steph, Stevie
    Hometown: Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
Current Residence: Brooklyn, New York City, USA and Berlin, Germany

Education: Dropped out of her Fashion Design: Womenswear in her final year at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and returned to the States to attend Vermont Law School on a bursary.
Occupation: Barrister defending women against perpetrators of all sorts, also occasionally doing civil rights for immigrants (for reference, think an upcoming Amal Clooney-ish?)

Likes: cold brews all year round, being busy all the time, waking up early to reply to emails, a good drink (or maybe three), feeling purposeful, feeling wanted, boys and girls the same way, the korean seven step skincare routine, buying new books she might not be able to read in a whole year, online shopping while commuting, the art in berlin and the nightlife in Brooklyn, fancy lingerie, underground semi-dodgy coffee shops, being a ‘nasty woman’, never ever turning the other cheek.

Dislikes: having to wear many layers of clothes, ‘ugh do you even like anything that is not super obscure??’, airbnbs that do not accept pets, guys who want to be exclusive right away, not wanting to be exclusive right away, not knowing what exactly it is that she wants, ‘you surely must be working out so much to be so fit’, ‘do all chinese women look young forever?’, people reading too much into her chinese v. western names, being honked at / catcalled, being told to keep her mouth shut.

Personality: If you ever wondered what the human version of a summer thunderstorm would be, Stephanie is your girl. There’s no way you could ever predict her mood, but be sure whichever it is it will be in full force and all of a sudden and will likely change shortly. Similarly, her love life is just as unpredictable, and even though there are a few craving for stability, it’s just not something she’s ready to give just yet. Out of selfishness, maybe, her idea of freedom leaving little space for anyone else beside herself, or maybe out of habit, seeing as the Zhaos have never really had a stable home for more than a mandate. Stephanie’s not the most popular girl, but not because of her mood swings; it’s her overachieving career-first attitude that has proven to push people away most of the time, words like ‘cold’ or ‘individualist’ being thrown at her on the daily. But aside from that half of the truth, the other half shows a generally sociable person, who’ll be the first to say yes to a party, and if enough effort is put into it, you’ll probably have her come to your apartment at midnight with ice cream and tissues when you’re having a crisis.

    Biography:

    • Either way you put it, the Zhao kids have always been called army brats. A high-ranking officer in the navy, Mrs Zhao’s work required constant moving from one country to the other, if not entire continents altogether. Her early childhood is not something she fondly remembers, although in all honesty Stephanie only remembers bits and pieces about it, because of her constant ‘outcast’ status among local kids. Things changed a lot once William was born, because there was someone to come home to from school and that someone sure was excited as ever to see her and play around the house with her. Secretly, Stephanie has spent many years of her life wondering whether her parents finally had William out of mercy for Stephanie’s constant misery as a child, but when John (name TBD) was born the supposition seemed too selfish and out of the question to hold on to.

    • You could say Stephanie is the unconventional one in a family of extremely proper people, although where would that leave William, who’s marrying a woman he met six months prior? In any case, there have always been tensions among parents and grandparents about Stephanie’s upbringing, her lack of desire to put actual real clothes on, her prodigal so-called promiscuity, and in more recent years her unapologetic orientation. The Zhaos have seen more lovers from Stephanie than actual, genuine friends, and her current lifestyle as a barrister doesn’t sound that promising on the platonic relationships sector.

    • Stephanie has recently managed to get a job at Boies, Schiller, & Flexner LLP in New York City, where she’s working with top professionals in the field. It’s an extremely challenging place to be in, especially when you’re a hyper emancipated woman who’s got a big mouth and will get into a heated argument in no time, but she’s super determined to prove herself she’s both capable and worth the job title.

    • A lesser known fact about Stephanie is her battle with addiction, which started just about the time she began attending Central Saint Martins. The dr.ugs, the drinks, the partying, the desperation, it was part of her daily life as a coming-of-age all-American girl in London. She’s been good for more than five years now, but it’s still a rough patch in her life that will even nowadays make concerned relatives frown when they see her reaching for a third drink at get togethers.

    • Stephanie’s mentality has always been career first, heart second, but it’s been too god damn long to keep denying that she is, deep down, a complete hopeless romantic. As shocking as it may seem, Stephanie can’t wait for her moment to come when she’ll walk down the aisle and marry the person of her dreams, and yet her current love life shows no signs of it being anywhere near. Although entertaining a rather serious – but open – relationship with Heinrich Bauhmann, an entrepreneur from Berlin, said openness of the relationship has led her to several more flings. With a whopping total of five special ones around her, it’s hard for Stephanie to keep up and gather a somewhat definite idea of what it is she’s looking for in a partner.

    • Of all the people she’s been fortunate enough to meet in her life, there will always be one person who will never ever leave her side, and whom she’ll always call her favourite. Although technically meant to get along due to their shared blood, William is Stephanie’s rock, her confider, the only one she’ll take advice from. He was also the one to confront her about her addiction and guide her towards seeking help, so in many ways she feels like she owes him her life. And yet, no matter how much she hates admitting it, there is something inside Stephanie that breaks at the thought of Will getting married and moving on with his life. It’s foolish and selfish beyond measure, but who will be there to mend her when her brother’s off building his life with another woman Stephanie has just barely gotten to know of?

    HANNAH RINGWALD HEAD CANONS

    • Elizabeth and Hannah always joke that they were destined to find each other, given Hannah’s middle name is also Elizabeth. Of course, that’s a common middle name, but they don’t bother caring about that. They are pretty much opposites, but they have an uncanny connection. It was a no-brainer that she would be the Maid of Honor. Hannah knows her personality isn’t necessarily “party planner,” but she has confidence in Elizabeth.
    • William, her fiancé, goes by Liam to pretty much everyone, but Hannah playfully calls him Willie after a silly inside joke from the night they met.
    • She knows what she wants for basically the entire wedding...except her dress. Despite all of the pinterest boards full of beautiful gowns, she can’t even envision what she wants to wear down the aisle. It’s driving her crazy.
    • Hannah is not ready to listen to anyone tell her that the rushed wedding is a mistake. If she hears one more joke about a shotgun, she may snap a neck. She is happy. Liam is happy. If you can’t be happy for them, leave.
    • Hannah honestly has horrible music taste and should never be allowed to dj in the car. She doesn’t know how to find new music and basically just ends up jamming to the same cheesy songs from five years ago on repeat. Music is just, too hard to keep up with, okay?
    • There is really only one ex that she is truly a bit hung up on, and the Core Five know that the name “Eli” cannot even be said out loud these days. They dated for eight months during junior year of undergrad. It was Hannah’s longest relationship ever. When he dumped her, he continued to string her along for sex and an emotional rollercoaster for almost an entire year. Despite everyone telling her to quit him, she just couldn’t. He’s not invited, of course, but what fun would it be if he didn’t make a surprise appearance and cause some drama anyway?
    • Her new post-grad relationship with Meredith is what she considers to be her first “grown-up” friendship. They’re incredibly close, but sometimes Hannah feels a bit guilty. She often can’t keep up with Meredith’s lifestyle financially. While Meredith does pay for some things for Hannah without blinking because she knows they have a genuine bond, it does eat away at Hannah. She has that burning desire to be independent and the one people can rely on, instead of having to rely on others. And money is a...tough subject for her.
    • Hannah loves to travel, but she has mostly road-tripped around the US so far. It is just recently that she has been able to expand her world a little bit. Once Willie is a full-fledged pilot, they plan on having endless around-the-world adventures together.
    • There is probably no one on this planet who is as bad at cooking as Hannah is. It is the scourge on her otherwise-perfect Mom resume.

    THE FIANCÉ

    WILLIAM ZHAO, 25
    (July 31st, 1992)

    English Name: William Zhao
    Chinese Name: Jianguo Ming-Húa Zhao
    Nicknames: Liam, Willie, Jiang
    Hometown: Honolulu, Hawaii
    Current Residence: Brooklyn, New York

Education: Graduated in 2014 with his Bachelors in Business Administration from Columbia; currently working towards his Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license
Occupation: “Student” for his pilot’s license but also a flight attendant that dabbles in travel blogging until he’s “earned his own wings”

Likes: flying, exploring remote and exotic places, his pet fish named Puppy, donuts, Hannah of course, rock music, socks with sandals no matter how many people tease him because it’s COMFY MAN
Dislikes: people who clap when the plane lands, being in one place too long, shopping, the Wall Street lifestyle, delays or being late, really rude passengers, how traveling makes it hard to have a dog, jet lag

Personality: So punctual that it honestly is a part of his personality, usually struggles to forge lasting relationships because of how much he moved when he was young and how much he still does now, incredibly independent, very tolerant of differences and really loves to learn about/from cultures and people that are diverse and unique, dry humor, hard-working, doesn’t make a very good first impression (so is quite surprised Hannah thought otherwise), “stop trying to figure out if the glass is half empty or full and just drink it” type, focuses on the big picture to the point where he maybe doesn’t build on the necessary details to make that big picture happen, tries to be kind/thoughtful but finds that his nature is to have himself and his needs as priority, might sometimes take advantage of how Hannah also puts him first but not with a malicious intent, needs to learn how to compromise more, doesn’t worry easily and takes life as it comes, very loyal to his family

    Biography:

    • Liam doesn’t like the term army brat, but it is the easiest way to describe his childhood. The Zhaos were a military family that moved around a lot. Because of all of shifting landscapes, his best friends were and always will be his older sister and brother.
    • Before she retired, Liam’s mom was a high-ranking official in the navy. She has always been his hero, even when he didn’t admit it as a teenager. His dad juggled a lot of things — home schooling the kids if they didn’t have a good school nearby, writing his novel, supporting his wife’s hard work and dreams.
    • They had a beautiful, happy marriage and tried to bestow as much of a “proper” life on their children as they were able. They wanted all of their children to be great at communicating and conflict management. It really only worked for John (idk name tbd lol). There was always Stephanie, who was just...Stephanie, whereas Liam tended to be a little angry at his parents when he was younger for not having a more stable location. He wasn’t very interested in taking their advice when he was convinced that he knew best.
    • Liam always thought he wanted to settle down early and lead “a very normal life.” But as soon as he had a taste of that by going to a top-tier university and dipping his toes into Wall Street, he found himself feeling empty.
    • So he quit his job almost immediately and surprised everyone by continuing the nomadic lifestyle.
    • He can be a little bit hard to keep track of and contact, unless your name is Stephanie. She is the only person who consistently gets a text back and a location from him. Part of it is because of their unbreakable bond as children, but a huge reason has also been her struggle with addiction. Liam would do anything to save her from that, and he wants to always be there when she needs him.
    • Liam has been searching for that sense of purpose in life for as long as he can remember. He is more than just a little bit of a lost wanderer. Flying is his passion, but it is not the only thing that fulfills him.
    • He has never had the concept of home...until he met Hannah. She makes him feel grounded.
    • Their love is an intoxicating whirlwind. Liam did not necessarily intend to be married young, but once they joked about it, he couldn’t get it out of his head. His whole life, he has been running away. What if this once, he took the chance to put down roots? For Hannah, that is a risk he is finally willing to take.

    THE GIRL
    Cat Lachey, 24
A bit of an internet personality, especially around the art Tumblr area, Cat earns her living by putting her fictional characters through hell and making fan-art. The dreamer in a family of hardcore realists, she switched her majors three times, before finally giving in and graduating with a diploma in art. Recently ended her five year relationship with a boy she once considered to be the one and is hopelessly searching for a little bit direction in her life.

    THE FAMILY

    Carl Lachey, 55 (father)
Third time's a charm is probably Mr. Lachey's favorite saying, mainly because everything in his life has come in threes. His first marriage lasted three years; it took him only three months to propose to his second wife and three weeks to divorce her after 23 years. Mr. Lachey is a lawyer, much like all his wives and daughters - well, with the exception of Cat (he really hopes that his unborn daughter will become one though). Despite his failed relationships, he is a big old softie that cares about his girls A LOT and is willing to do everything just so they can be happy.
    (fc: tba)

    Stella Roberts, 51 (mother)
Unlike her ex-husband, the former Mrs. Lachey isn't that soft. To be perfectly honest she was far stricter when it came to parenting and raising Cat - those big ol' puppy eyes and tears never had an effect on her (well, after the third time she eventually gives up). Yes, she is very disappointed that Cat has had a difficult time making decisions all her life and yes, she is disappointed that she picked her lifelong passion for art instead of law school, but a part of her knows that Cat made the right decision by following her heart, instead of her mother's overly ambitious plans. The two occasionally butt heads, mainly due to the fact of their clashing personalities (Ms. Roberts thinks Cat is incredibly emotional and needs to be in a better control of her emotions).
    (fc: Lea Thompson)

    Caroline Lachey, 28 (older sister)
The thing with children of divorced parents where one of the parent begins a new family with a new partner is that most of the times, the first children feel like the odd one out. In Caroline's case, it was quite the opposite. Maybe it's because of her interests (and later profession), but Caroline always fit in with her father's new family. Her little sister though, that was a different story. The two are as different as night and day - one is overly logical while the other tends to spend her days with her head in the clouds. Over time they somehow managed to look past those differences and now are one another's closest friend as well as confidant. As a matter of fact, Caroline was the first one in the family that actually encouraged Cat to go chase after her dreams.
    (fc: Madelyn Deutch)

    WHATEVER

    Jamie Parikh, 25 (ex-boyfriend)
They met in their freshman year of college and despite the fact that Jamie dropped out after one semester, they still managed to stay in touch. Cat and her friends would often go out in the bar that he and his band would play and she would be his biggest fan and groupie. Becoming a couple was something that came natural to them. Before Cat knew it the two lived together and they supported one another's dreams unconditionally. Up until the point they moved to Los Angeles and Jamie's band blew up. The constant travelling and the parties were a bit too much for Cat and she always left early - because she knew Jamie and she trusted him ( something she would later regret). His cheating left her heartbroken, but the fact that no one actually told her was even more heartbreaking.
    (fc: Avan Jogia)

    Mason Miller, 23 (ex-friend)
For a while he was referred to as Benji's replacement - at least to Cat. A bit reserved at first, Mason's true frat boy personality eventually came out six months after being in the band. A heavy drinker, he was known for his womanizing ways and his incredible talent for playing the guitar. It took a while for Cat to warm up to him, but much like Mason himself once they became friends, he became the little brother she never knew she wanted. Eventually things went downhill ever since the band's big break. Mason became a lot more obnoxious and irresponsible to the point where he would straight up disrespect Cat. When she found out about Jamie's cheating, she really wasn't surprised that Mason heavily encouraged him.
    (fc: KJ Apa)

    Devon Parker, 25 (ex-friend)
One of Jamie's oldest friends, it was actually Devon that is sort of responsible for Cat and Jamie getting together. A talented drummer, Devon is the comic relief of the group - the glue that kept everyone together and the one that opposed to Benji's undisclosed departure. He and Cat were pretty close so maybe that's why it hurt so much when she found out about Jamie's cheating.
    (fc: Ezra Miller)

    BLAST FROM THE PAST

    Benji Pratt, 25 (friend)
One of the original members of Jamie's band, he along with Devon were incredibly close with Cat. According to him, Jamie was a better person when around Cat, but sadly that didn't last for long. Two years before the band's big break Benji was kicked out for reasons that are still unclear for Cat. But now, that she is aware of Jamie's tendency to sprout lies, maybe the story he was selling to her all those years ago - the one about how Benji wasn't hundred percent devoted to the band - might as well be a lie.
