Do you plan activities before booking accommodation?
-
I’m never quite sure what to organise first when planning a holiday. Sometimes I book accommodation because I find a good deal, only to realise afterwards that most of the places I want to visit are quite far away. Other times, I spend ages researching activities and attractions but struggle to find somewhere convenient to stay within my budget. I’d like to make the planning process a bit more straightforward, especially for destinations I’ve never visited. What order do you usually follow when organising a trip, and are there any resources that help you get an overview of what a destination has to offer?

Personally, I start with the destination and the main things I’d like to experience there. I don’t necessarily create a strict itinerary, but I want to understand which areas are worth visiting before choosing where to stay. Once I have a rough idea of the activities, I compare accommodation prices and transport options. You could also browse https://tourist.com/explore to look for travel inspiration before settling on a particular place. I find it much easier to make decisions when I have a general picture of the destination first. It also helps avoid booking somewhere simply because it looks attractive or inexpensive, without considering whether the location works for the trip.

I usually do things the other way around, so this is helpful. I’ll research the destination first next time instead of booking accommodation straight away!
