TF2 skin trading, what do you actually need to know before starting?

Never traded skins in TF2 before but I have a bunch sitting in my inventory. Is it complicated to get started or is there a straightforward way to figure out what things are worth?

Not complicated but it does take some learning. Prices shift a lot and what looks valuable might not be what traders actually want. Started small and lost a bit early on just from not knowing how it all worked
