Picked up my first vintage Star Wars figure at a local market last weekend and the seller spent twenty minutes explaining why the cardback condition matters as much as the figure itself. Had no idea that world existed at that level of detail. Where do people even start when they want to understand this properly?

Cardback collecting is its own entire subcategory and once you understand it the prices that seem crazy at first start making complete sense. The condition, the punch, the country of manufacture — all of it feeds into value in ways that take time to internalize. Honestly the best starting point is understanding the timeline of how collecting developed as a culture rather than jumping straight into pricing guides
