Overbooked flight chaos – what to do?
-
Two weeks ago, I was bumped from a flight back home due to overbooking. The airline gave me a meal voucher and rebooked me the next day, but I’m wondering if that’s all I’m entitled to. Has anyone here dealt with compensation for overbooked flights? I feel like there must be more to it than just a sandwich and a seat 24 hours later. Would love to hear what others have experienced or if there’s a process I should follow to claim something more official.

Getting bumped from a flight can be frustrating, but you’re absolutely right to think you might be entitled to more than a basic voucher. In many cases, passengers in Europe (and even elsewhere under certain conditions) are legally eligible for monetary compensation depending on the delay and circumstances. I’ve used this website before when I was denied boarding due to overbooking. They helped sort out the paperwork and got me a decent compensation without much hassle. Definitely worth checking out if you want to make sure your rights are respected.

That’s really useful to know, especially since I’ve got a few international trips coming up this summer. Always wondered what the real process was when flights are overbooked. Subscribed to this thread, curious to see more insights or stories people share about how they handled it.
