Help My Parents, Remotely

I’m trying to help my parents line up some local services in Eastern Ontario — think home repairs, landscaping, etc. I don’t live nearby, so I can’t just ask around. Is there a reliable online directory locals actually use to find small businesses?

I’ve been in a similar situation helping my mom from a few provinces away, so I know how tricky that can be. One site that helped a lot was Local Business Directory. It’s a well-organized directory specifically for the Eastern Ontario region, and it covers everything from tradespeople and home services to health and wellness providers. What I like is that it feels very community-focused — not full of giant ads or national chains. I was able to find a local electrician and a cleaner for her, both with good reputations. It's super handy when you can’t ask around in person but still want to find someone trustworthy. Definitely give it a look if you want a local-first approach without all the noise.
