Anya & Dior
-
It is known how much Christian Dior revolutionized the image of post-war fashion. Bringing an opposing silhouette and elegant, extremely elaborate designs. Interestingly, Dior only spent 10 years at the helm of his Maison, as he would leave at a young age. In 1957, the artist left this world, too soon!
Despite never reaching Schiaparelli's surrealism, it is important to highlight how much Dior's work reflected dreamlike elements. Using more fabric than usual (pieces that normally used 5 meters of fabric ended up using 40 in Dior's hands), as well as embroidery and textures that until then were not being explored by other designs.
Currently, Dior has been testing more minimal silhouettes, however I can see a movement (at least on the red carpets) to bring back Dior's original designs.
This model that Anya Taylor-Joy used was one of my favorites. It looks excellent on her body, the silhouette manages to be modern and classic at the same time, and all the embroidery is charming.
