    𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐘𝐄-𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆팽 혜영𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐆
    May 18th, 2000 [23, Gemini/Year of the Dragon]
    [fc: Kim Haram]

    ⁺˚*・༓☾ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐒 ☽༓・*˚⁺

𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒: vocal scoops, spicy food (she likes food the “challenges” her), finding new friends, horror movies, wearing designer clothes, competition, breaking the rules, that moment when choreography just 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘴, stretching, sweets, making people laugh, getting drunk, skinship, finding the perfect emoji for an obscure situation, flirting, everything up to (and including) a performance, defying expectations, winning…anything

𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒: going by her English name in Korea, her father’s family, “Garbage State” slander, being underestimated/not being taken seriously, hangovers, performing aegyo, when her nails get too long, coming across a Korean word she doesn’t understand, the EST/KST time difference, color contacts, the mistakes of her past, not being able to swear freely, seeing someone crying, people trying to quiet her down, bugs, people keeping secrets from her, the distance from her family (but mostly her brother), cultural misunderstandings

𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: If asked to describe Kenna, the first word out of anyone’s mouth would probably be ‘outgoing’. She’s the type to wander over to a stranger at a party and have them laughing along with her quirky sense of humor in under five minutes. She’s also genuinely kindhearted and cares deeply for everyone around her, even casual acquaintances. Kenna’s always there to lend an ear, or a helping hand, and is more than willing to give advice when asked. Is it good advice? Who knows! Kenna certainly doesn’t follow it herself, and her habit of acting before she thinks lands her in trouble more often than not. Her soft heart can also be a weakness; since she always believes in the best in everyone, she tends to get taken advantage of easily. There’s also a roughness to her personality that she attributes to growing up with a twin brother. She likes to show affection by roasting her friends, enjoys a good drink (maybe a little too much), and has a surprising competitive streak. Her ability to hold a grudge is nothing short of impressive, and authority figures and rules bring out her defiant side. In recent years, she’s also become something of a habitual flirt. What can she say? Men are easy to understand. If it’s not that, then she’s more than happy to be one of the guys. Her friendships with other women are much more precious because she never has to worry about their intentions.

    ⁺˚*・༓☾ 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘 ☽༓・*˚⁺

Hye-young has no memories of her original childhood home. Or maybe she does. It’s hard to delineate between one apartment in Seoul and a multifamily house in Fort Lee. She was too young to question what was happening, much less 𝘸𝘩𝘺 - something something her father’s job something something - and she went back every summer anyway. As she and her twin brother, Jeongin, bounced back and forth between her mother’s hometown and her fathers, the world outside never seemed to shift much either. The family always spoke to each other in the same combination of Korean and English that was the lingua franca of their corner of Northeast New Jersey. Because of this, she always felt a strong connection to her heritage, even with the Pacific Ocean standing between her and her birthplace.
When they first moved, the artistically-inclined Peng parents placed both twins in as many different lessons as possible in an effort to help them find friends. While Jeongin gravitated towards the cello, Hye-young showed an aptitude for dance and singing. Ultimately deciding dance would help her more in the long run, Hye-young’s mother began driving her into the city several times a week so she could participate in a more intensive program. However, her focus shifted in seventh grade when her choir teacher asked her to join the high school’s drama department onstage as a featured dancer for their performance of 𝘗𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢. Getting the opportunity to combine singing and dancing into a single performance was unlike anything she’d ever experienced. Not long after, Hye-young happened to catch a performance on 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸 by none other than the legendary girl group, SNSD. It was at that moment Hye-young made up her mind to become an idol. Though this dream was something she wouldn’t voice to her family for several years, Hye-young never shied away from sharing her love of idol music with them. From then on, road trips were no longer soundtracked by Top 40 radio, but SHINEE and 2NE1.
At the same time Hye-young was recording dance covers in her room, Jeongin was picking up every instrument he could get his hands on. However, that wasn’t the only thing he was getting into. The twins, who had grown up very close, began to drift apart as Jeongin fell deeper and deeper into partying. After a starling wakeup call - the details of which are still unclear to Hye-young - he was forced to clean up his act. In order to get a little extra credit, Jeongin started a rock cover band with the help of Hye-young and his lifelong best friend, Sunil. When they all went to nearby colleges, the trio continued to perform together, this time at local venues for small sums.
The band, School of Minnows, not only brought the twins back together, but Hye-young and Sunil as well. Hye-young had a crush on Sunil for as long as she could remember. He was tall, funny, and, best of all, musically talented. How could she not fall for him? She always assumed he thought of her as nothing more than a friend - or worse, just his best friend’s sister - but that all changed when he suddenly kissed her at a party at the beginning of freshman year. They began hooking up not long after. He was her first everything. First love, first time…first heartbreak.
It happened right before Hye-young graduated. Between her classes and the band, those two college years were a blur. When she finally announced her intentions of becoming an idol, her parents told her they wouldn’t get in her way, so long as she got some kind of college degree. However, they wouldn’t support her either. Hye-young spent her final semester filming self-tapes and sending them to every online audition. She eventually signed on with Carpe Diem Entertainment, and newer and smaller agency - the first one to send her an acceptance. She graduated in May of 2020 with her Music (A.S.) and packed her things less than two weeks later. She arrived in Seoul the same way she left Fort Lee; alone.
During her trainee years, Hye-young rented an apartment from her father’s older sister (who was doing astonishingly well for herself as a landlord), sharing the space with one of her second cousins. Despite the reduced “family rate” and her savings from her time in School of Minnows, Hye-young still needed to pick up a job to support herself and pay her agency’s fees. She found work at a local dive bar, RainShine. No matter how busy she was, Hye-young still found plenty of time to go out. Maybe she was lonely in a city she had once thought of as her second home, or maybe it was just the way things ended with Sunil, but Hye-young finally understood the allure Jeongin saw at the bottom of a bottle. She watched an endless parade of her fellow trainees leave the company or debut ahead of her. She woke up in a lot of different beds.
Hye-young’s own wakeup call came when she finally saw Carpe Diem for the scam it was. At twenty-two, her agency had no intention to debut her (though the groups they did debut didn’t seem to fare much better under CD’s mismanagement). Faced with the possibility of going completely bankrupt - of having to return to the US with her tail between her legs and listen to a lifetime of her parents’ ‘I told you so’s - Hye-young took a risk and auditioned for the survival program, Dream100.
Against all odds, Hye-young not only made it into the program, but into the final group lineup. Now the main vocalist of KJM’s newest girl group, Kismet, Hye-young’s struggles have only just begun. From the mistakes of her past coming back to haunt her and the adjustment to celebrity life, perhaps the hardest thing to deal with is the strife within her own group - as well as her brewing rivalry with the group’s other main vocal and center, Jiyoung. She’ll have to adapt or die trying. She’ll have to become 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚.

    ⁺˚*・༓☾ 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐒 ☽༓・*˚⁺

The Peng twins got both their Korean and English names from their grandparents. Hye-young/Kenna was named after her paternal and maternal grandfathers - Hyejeong and Kenneth, respectively - while Jeongin/Joseph was named after his paternal and maternal grandmothers - Jeongsuk and Josephine.
As an almost lifelong resident of Fort Lee, Kenna has some strong Jersey Girl opinions (‘natch). She will absolutely throw down if she hears any Garbage State slander and nearly had to be escorted from a party in college after a heated debate over NJ/NY pizza and bagels. See also; Taylor Ham vs Pork Roll, which state the Statue of Liberty belongs to, and whether or not Central Jersey actually exists
Kenna is fully bilingual, as she grew up speaking both Korean and English in equal measure at home. However, she sometimes struggles when it comes to newer, trendy slang and obscure words. (For example, ‘telekinesis’ or ‘scapula’.)
Her most prized physical trait is her hair. Kenna likes to keep it long and is proud of how healthy it is. She dreads the day when a comeback requires her to bleach and dye it
Out of all the members, Kenna is known for her love of skinship. She’s particularly clingy and cuddly, offering up her lap as a place to sit or dropping her chin on other member’s heads and shoulders (perks of being one of the tallest in the group). She also has a habit of latching onto the nearest person when particularly overwhelmed with laughter
When the twins were juniors in high school, the Peng family adopted Oreo. She’s a black-and-white portuguese water dog (and likely a mix, because she’s absolutely 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 for her breed). She’s very friendly, and affectionate, but often forgets just how giant she is. Kenna misses her dearly
Kenna’s habit of eating the hottest foods known to man probably stems from her mother, who just cooked like that and refused to water anything down, even when the twins were little. It’s just what she was raised on. (It might also have something to do with an on-going competition with her brother.)
Speaking of Jeongin, he and Kenna's version of affection is calling each other the most foul, out-of-pocket things imaginable. Bonus points for creativity and sheer absurdity. (see: memelord, foot-licker, etc.) However, they both know where to draw the line and neither can think of a time where this name-calling has ever upset them

Peng Jung-hee/Michelle Peng (née Kim) | mother, 51 | Sandra Oh
A born and raised Fort Lee denizen, Michelle took a big chance moving to her parents’ (and her husband’s) hometown of Seoul to get married. However, moving back shortly after the birth of their twins was an even bigger risk. Let her in-laws hate her for stealing their golden child away. All that matters to her is making sure her husband - the love of her life, even nearing their thirty-year anniversary - is happy and healthy, and that their children are leading fulfilling lives. Conservator at Sotheby's, with a specialty in Asian and Pacific Islands art.

    Peng Seojin/Gideon Peng | father, 50 | Jung Woo-sung
Jin didn’t expect a college exchange program would lead to him finding the love of his life, but he doesn’t regret it for a second. (There are plenty of other things in his life for him to regret.) His wife’s definition of success might adhere closer to his parents’ definition - but don’t tell either party that. He’s just happy to see his children happy. Associate bank manager by day, community theatre actor for fun.

Peng Jeongin/Joseph Peng | twin brother, 23 | Jeong Yunho
The one Kenna considers “the smart twin”, though it didn’t always seem that it would play out this way. Jeongin learned early that he has a substance problem and it’s only made him more responsible, disciplined. Older by six minutes and incredibly proud of that fact. Able to pick up almost any instrument, though he’s particularly accomplished on cello and electric bass (as well as vocals and dance, but those are Kenna’s Things™). Currently dating Peyton and attending Stony Brook to get his master’s in history.

Hannah Snyder | childhood bestie, 23 | Rachel Sennot
The platonic love of Kenna’s life, no joke. When they met in elementary school, Hannah was the only one more sociable than her. Put the two of them in a room together and they’ll just be running bits for hours. Hannah came out as a lesbian in high school and has participated in queer activism ever since, as well as becoming an advocate for other marginalized groups. All of 5’2” and would fight a man for 5¢ and a corn chip. The best violinist in their high school. Three years out from a M.A. in architecture.

    Peyton Thomas | Jeongin’s partner, 25 | Bridgette Lundy-Paine
To be honest, Kenna doesn’t know much about Peyton. They started dating her brother long after she left the country. Sure, they’ve talked over the phone, and even had a couple Zoom hangouts, but Peyton still feels like a stranger. All she knows is that they’re studying history at Stony Brook together and that they seem to take good care of Jeongin. That should be more than enough, but Kenna can’t help but feel protective of her twin. Hopefully, they’ll be able to visit Seoul one day and Kenna can get a feel for them in-person.

    Sunil Thaker | former friend/not-quite-ex, 23 | Dev Patel
He’s tall, handsome, funny, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 an amazing musician…How was Kenna supposed to not fall for him? Jeongin’s best friend since she can remember. Grew up with his mom after his parents divorced when his dad decided business was more important than family and left them to take a more lucrative job overseas (at least, that’s the version of the story Sunil told Kenna). She cut off contact when he broke her heart in the weeks leading up to her departure for Seoul and she hasn’t heard from him since - aside from assorted rumors. Jeongin probably doesn’t know the full story, but it seems like he’s done the same in solidarity - something that she feels a little guilty for. He’s probably finished his five-year MBA by now, but who knows, honestly.

Watanabe Yuki | friend, 24 | Fukotomi Tsuki
Bright and bubbly, Yuki is champagne in human form. A trainee at Carpe Diem alongside Kenna with a focus in dance. Her closest friend during the trainee days, Yuki often acted as her unnie, though she never seemed to have the heart to actually scold Kenna for her pre-debut antics. Having been in the industry for longer, she was the first to notice something wasn’t right with their agency. Auditioned for Dream100 alongside Kenna and made it onto the show, though she didn’t make it into the final group. Currently without an agency, though Kenna’s heard rumors of her upcoming debut.

Song ‘JAE’ Hyunjae | maknae/main rapper of Hellion, 23 | Han Jisung
Given his family name, it’s no wonder Jae wound up in the entertainment industry - though perhaps not for the obvious reasons. The only child of Song Hyunseok, a high-ranking officer at KJM Entertainment, Jae was always groomed to one day take his father’s place. However, he found his calling on the stage - much to his father’s dismay. He made his debut as the main rapper and maknae of Hellion in 2020 and, while the group’s star has only continued to rise, a dark cloud hangs over Jae’s career. Is he really just a nepo-baby? And, more importantly, just why was he expelled from his private boarding school just weeks before graduation?

Kim Yoonmi | stylist, 26 | Choi Sora
Former top model turned stylist, Yoonmi was known for her captivating streetstyle almost as much as her sleek runway and editorial presence. She made the jump this year and, as an upcoming stylist, was paired with an upcoming group; KISMET. Her connections in the industry run deep, allowing her impressive pull for a rookie. What really sets her apart is that, instead of pulling from the newest and hottest brands, she tends towards archival pulls. Cool as it is to see idols in the latest Prada Re-Nylon that hasn’t even hit the stores yet, Yoonmi would prefer to dress all her girls in full looks from the Fall/Winter 1996 “Pretty/Ugly” collection. (She also has something of a scandalous past, so it’s a good thing she’s not a public-facing personality…right?)

“𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒟𝑒𝓈𝓉𝒾𝓃𝓎! 𝐻𝑒𝓁𝓁𝑜, 𝓌𝑒 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝒦𝐼𝒮𝑀𝐸𝒯!”

    Company: KJM Entertainment
    Debuted: 01/20/2023
    Fandom: FATEz

Genre/style: KISMET aims to shake up the music industry. Though the group’s music contains experimental elements popular with their fourth and fifth generation contemporaries, the group has quickly built a distinct sound for themselves with minimalist backing tracks and nearly-untouched vocals which are often pushed to the front of the mix. Per their official debut statement, “sparse instrumentals that allow the member’s unique charms to shine in the spotlight”.

    ✧・゚: ✧・゚: 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒 :・゚✧:・゚✧

    Oh Yerim | leader/main rapper, 25 | Jang Yeeun
Becoming an idol was something Yerim only ever dreamt about as a kid. But, for someone without any formal music or dance training, it seemed like it would only ever be a dream. That is, until she was scouted while out shopping. She debuted after a short nine-month training period as the maknae of Ruby Kiss. Despite their devoted fanbase, Ruby Kiss never managed to snag a win and, after five years, two of the members terminated their contracts. The group disbanded shortly thereafter. Yerim, who had never known a life outside of being an idol, signed up for Dream100, where Ppoppos (Ruby Kiss stans) voted her second place out of all the contestants. Now Yerim is back to making a living doing what she loves, but the transition into a new group hasn’t been entirely easy. On top of navigating a new genre and all the complex dynamics in her new team, she’s gone from the maknae to the leader, and the learning curve has been 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘱.

    Jeon Jiyoung | main vocal/center, 23 | Kim Suhyeon
Jiyoung is never quite sure how long to call her training period. If she’s honest, it feels like it’s been her entire life. From specialized music schools, to supplementary lessons, to training at home with her mother, every moment of Jiyoung’s childhood was focused on shaping her into the perfect idol. After passing the audition process for all the big three agencies, Jiyoung instead decided to join her mother’s. They had big plans for her, and were prepping her for a solo debut. As a smaller agency, they wanted to drum up support first, and had her join Dream100. Unfortunately, this plan backfired when Jiyoung placed first in the final vote, securing her spot as the center of KISMET. Sharing the spotlight is the one thing she never trained for, much less with someone who nearly shares her name, and seems to have blundered her way into taking the spot Jiyoung spent her life working towards.

Yang Seojun | main dancer/lead rapper, 20 | Kim Dayeon
If there was a main character of Dream100, it would be Yang Seojun. Something of celebrity in her small town, Seojun’s hobby of learning idol dances, and practicing them at her family’s convenience store, began to draw more and more customers as her skill improved. (She was actually a massive Ppoppo and is in constant fangirl-mode now that she’s in a group with her bias.) This even led to her parents eventually franchising. When she graduated high school, she packed up and moved to Seoul to join an agency. Despite her short trainee period before joining Dream100, there’s no doubt Seojun has what it takes to make it onstage. If the sheer force of her glowing personality wasn’t enough, her innate dance ability combined with her vocal and rap skills (she’s the group’s undisputed ace) make her a force to be reckoned with. She’s also Kenna’s roommate.

    Harada Miyu | main dancer/visual, 19 | Nakamura Kazuha
Giving up a lifetime of ballet lessons to become an idol might not seem like a straightforward path, but it’s the only one that made sense to Miyu. The constant drive towards perfection in her classical ballet practice felt at odds with her preference for raw emotion and expression. She auditioned for several different multidisciplinary dance studios on a whim, along with one idol agency. It should be no surprise which one she picked. On top of ballet, Miyu is also an accomplished digital artist.

    Fujita Chihiro | maknae/main rapper, 18 | Ezaki Hikaru
On the surface, Hiro has all the traits of a typical maknae. She has an adorable personality and loves skinship. However, she’s a stage presence powerhouse, lighting up every performance with her razor-sharp dance moves and even quicker raps. And her bubbly nature belies a deep inner strength, forged from years upon years of attending dance competitions. In only a couple months together, the rest of the group has already noticed how confident, reliable and independent she is. On top of that, Hiro’s also known to be a little devious, often pranking the members by covertly taking unflattering pictures of them and sending them unprompted to their groupchat when it seems like someone needs to be humbled.
