Empty Houses"Tell me what you have at home. And she said, Your servant has nothing at home, but a vessel of oil." (2 Kings 4:2)
What is an Empty House?
A house is considered empty when it is not the habitual residence of any person nor is it used seasonally, periodically or sporadically by anyone.
"Foxes have caves and birds have nests, but I, the Son of Man, has no place to rest. "(Matthew 8:19)
"And that house is us, as long as we hold firm to the end in the trust and the glory of hope." (Hebrews 3:6)
"And this is the mystery: Christ is among you and is your hope for glory." (Colossians 1:27)
"And I will make all nations tremble, and the Desire of all nations will come; and I will fill this house with glory, the Lord of hosts has said. Mine is silver, and mine is gold, says Jehovah of hosts. The last glory of this house will be greater than the first, the LORD of hosts has said; and I will give peace in this place, says the LORD of hosts." (Haggai 2:7-9)
"He said to her, Go and ask for you vessels borrowed from all your neighbors, empty vessels, not a few. Enter then, and lock yourself and your children; and cast into all the vessels, and when one is full, set it aside. And the woman left, and closed the door by locking herself and her children; and they brought her the vessels, and she poured out of the oil." (2 Kings 4:3-5)
"But we keep this precious treasure in a clay pot. It is so that it is obvious that this glorious power comes from God and not from us." (2 Corinthians 4:7)
Today God is looking for empty houses to fill them with his glory. He seeks vessels that are empty of the riches of this world, of the vanity of this generation, to fill them with the riches of his glory.
"Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" (1 Corinthians 3:16)
"To him who loves me, my Father will love him. We will come to Him and dwell with Him." (John 14:23)
