Currently and occasionally in use by her parentsโ€™ careers when a difficult case comes across their desks. Others might also consider her silver tongue rather a strength as well, given her ability to use it for her own benefit if not that of others. More often than not, itโ€™s rather at the expense of others instead of to help them.

Otherwise sheโ€™s limited to just observations about the things around her. Which she rather enjoys, as a matter of fact, even if her steadfastness to her own beliefs is actually somewhat of a weakness.

An introvert disguised as an extrovert, thatโ€™s the best way to describe Meridiana. Deep down, sheโ€™d much rather be left to her own devices, yet reality has had its own plans for her. Which, even she would have no qualms in admitting she enjoys turning those plans on their heads. Thereโ€™s a devious streak in Miss Bishop, visible when sheโ€™s writing her blog about the people sheโ€™s seen around campus and the opinions sheโ€™s developed about them. Conversely, the internet corner that reports on her other observations seems the exact opposite, serious and matter-of-fact. She can be one to leave a person with a biting comment, especially if that person has wronged her in some way, overt or just in her own mind. Sheโ€™s an expert at holding grudges, some of which have lasted for years. Nor has it gone without anyoneโ€™s notice that sheโ€™s excellent at convincing people of her own innocence, her having โ€œof course notโ€ been involved in that incident whatsoever. Sheโ€™s developed her own brand of intelligence, both from books (secretly sheโ€™s a fan of Jane Austen) and common sense.

Being born the latest in a legacy isnโ€™t what itโ€™s cracked up to be. Meridiana learned that from a young age, being told that the expectations on her are paramount and unescapable. The young Meridiana didnโ€™t understand what that meant, thinking it just a story. Something that she could just pretend was the plot of one of the books she loved to read or the movies her parents allowed her to watch. Either that, or it just meant she was destined to be a lawyer like both her parents, or a highly decorated police officer like her uncle. Meridiana when young didnโ€™t understand the true meaning behind the legacy. Nor did anyone concern themselves with disabusing her of her beliefs. Rather, her parents were amused by the fantasy, allowing their daughter the briefest moment of respite even as they knew the truth loomed ever closer.
Six-year-old Meridiana was left to her own devices. Sixteen-year-old Meridiana decidedly was not. It was then that she became more aware of the expectations her lineage had left for her. It was then that she was informed that she was expected to apply and subsequently attend Oxford, just as nearly every Bishop and St. Clair had before her. Aberrations were not to be accepted, although she absolutely tried. Applications were sent out to nearly every prestigious university in existence, most of which were located far from London, but mysteriously the only acceptance letter she received (or, in actuality, was allowed to see, as any others were summarily destroyed before she saw them) was to Oxford. Her defiance was allowed elsewhere, but in this instance not to be sanctioned.
What little magical ability she had was summarily utilized as well, seeing as it was infinitely easier to defend a case if the lawyers knew the truth beyond any doubt. Having an insight into what their clients had done in the past helped with that, and if it also had helped in solving a few kidnapping cases, it was all the better. It became her personal little game to talk her way out of any questions that were posed of her activities, and the only argument to this day that sheโ€™s lost happens to be the matter of her university. Just as she exerted her own rights in choosing her field of study, she ultimately conceded the location of said education.
The legacy card was useful at least once, since sheโ€™d managed to alienate nearly every roommate she had the first year or so of her college career. Little slights werenโ€™t forgotten, and by third year, she managed to talk everyone who had any say in the matter that it would be better if she was allowed her own flat. Money wasnโ€™t exactly an issue; her parents werenโ€™t against funding it, so it was likely one of the simplest arguments she ever won.
If only everything was as easily escaped with a few well-placed words or an active grudge.
