You’re awake.

And, though you cannot remember how you came to be there, you find yourself aboard a darkened and stationary ocean liner in the middle of a black, unknown sea.

Your shoes are missing-

All you have is your clothing, a heavy torch/flashlight & a card key which is pinned to your chest with a wooden laundry pin.

Without understanding your situation- and perhaps waiting to wake up in your own bed again- you decide to stumble around looking for something, anything to give you answers. But the ship is mammoth, yawning and you have no idea if you are alone-

However, given the moving shadows in the corner of your eye, you have the distinct impression that you are not…

Follow directions given and gather the clues to understand the mystery.

THE SHIP (STILL WORKING)

The MNEMOSYNE appears to be a luxury ocean liner completely empty of passengers- aside from yourself… you think.

All lifeboats are missing, and the electrical power seems to be offline. The banks of lifts are unusable as well, so movement between certain decks is (for the moment) impossible.

The only light comes from the sun in daytime, and by night, the little red emergency lights lining the floors of the passenger residence corridors are, unfortunately, the only interior light sources. But, hopefully, the darkness is not a lasting situation.

Though dark, there are plenty of directories around to orient yourself after waking-

There are twelve decks in all- and “fun fact”, tout all the maps, there are a grand total of 870 staterooms aboard ! (More and more, it seems possible that you might lose yourself in the vast innards of such a massive vessel.)

And each of the decks (open to passengers) has it’s own name- while the original names have been blacked out by someone, these are the new names- scribbled in red ink on every map that you come across- of each deck:
