DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ARTIST
What is your name or art handle name [why]?
Jacky Krielaart for my artwork and Sapora for my jewelry. The name Sapora was inspired by the name of my company Sapore d'Amore, which can be translated as Taste of LoveOn average, how long does a typical project take? What type of project is it?
There is no average. The technique I use for my paintings is mixed media and I like to work with layers of paint. The drying time between the layers varies depending on what medium is used. How many layers I use also varies.Who has been your HERO ARTist or mentor in your art path?
Gustav Klimt, I LOVE the gold combined with bright colors in his work. Frida Kahlo is my heroine. As a person and as an artist. With her warrior spirit, she was able to translate her pain and struggle into stunning art.If you had to take only 3 art utensils on an international trip for 2 weeks what would you take and why?
Sketchbook, pencils, and eraserWhat is your favorite medium of art?
Mixed media| |ONE WORD FLIP word: ABSTRACT ||
To me, abstract is the ultimate form of expression. Some people say, abstract is easy, a child can do it. Yes, a child can do it because children create from emotion without thinking.Has art always been your passion...when did you notice it and what sparks your creative juices?
Yes always, from when I was little! Almost everything can spark my creative juices. Sometimes I think I look with different eyes than others do, to the world surrounding me. For example, if I walk in a forest, I don't see trees. I see shapes, all the different shades of green of the leaves, I see lines, composition, I see light and shadow. If you got paid 3 million dollars for a commission job to create for a museum display of your work...What would your process of creating be? How long would it take you to present your final work? What would you create to be seen by the world in a museum?
If I would be totally free to decide, I would paint a very large abstract multi-media painting. I would decide on the color scheme, I always, like to use also some metallic colors like gold silver, copper or bronze. Start with the first layer of structure and relief and start “building” the painting with layers of paint. It’s the painting that guides me to the end result. When I’m working on a painting, I need to be in “my world”. It’s hard to say when it would be finished because I use many, many layers. It’s always the painting “telling” me when it is finished. What's the biggest compliment you have taken to heart and cherished?
Once a customer for a large commission painting, told me: “I loved the painting right away but now that it’s hanging in my living room, it even grows on me, more and more every day! I can’t stop looking at it and every day I discover something new!”What type of mindset does a full-time artist need to have and what does your day look like?
As organized as possible with a creative mind.Do you have one tip for other budding artist or even veteran artist, what would it be?
Always be curiousDo you offer commission work and how can others learn about collaborating with you? What are your contacts?
