Liv Harrison isnโ€™t exactly famous โ€“ she just likes to think she is. A pseudo celebrity in her own right, Liv made a name for herself after Love Bug - the show she not only created, wrote and starred in- got popular overnight and granted her several nominations and that lovely, godforsaken Emmy win for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Her reaction to the unexpected win had the internet in stitches, but it was her unforgettable speech that made her the star of the night. โ€œIโ€™m going to be brutally honest with you - I didnโ€™t expect to win,โ€ She hiccupped, holding the award as if she were holding out for dear life. โ€œSo, if this doesnโ€™t make any sense Iโ€™m terribly sorry - I had a bit to drink.โ€ Later that year Love Bug was renewed for two more seasons; she signed a deal with Netflix for a show that was never as successful as her first and before Liv knew it, she was slowly slipping back into obscurity.

Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that she refused to make Los Angeles her second home or get accustomed to all the ways her colleagues remained relevant in the public eye. She wouldnโ€™t go out for pap walks; wouldnโ€™t pretend to date a much famous (and closeted) celebrity; wouldnโ€™t sleep for a roleโ€ฆ and why should she? Anonymity suits her well - after all she had never received proper media training like the rest of her colleagues so she never knew how to act when tiny men with cameras or a gaggle of fan girls would suddenly swarm her. All the men she dated (with the exception of a much older and now married A-List actor) had been either regular blokes she met at her local pub or unknown up-and-coming actors.

Jeremy Kant (not his real name, btw) was exactly one of those up-and-coming actors. Several months her senior, he had been the first man Liv had dated that was her age. She canโ€™t remember how they met - there was a period in her life when after her unexpected Emmy win so many people wanted to buy her drinks, so much so she was pissed out of her mind every night for four months straight. Jeremy was tall and lanky; with teeth a bit too big for his mouth and head and an attention span of a two year old. He also happened to be incredibly funny and charming and before she knew it, Liv had totally and completely fallen for him. They were going to do a movie together; travel the world. He went back to London with her; met her Mum and Dad and little brother. For the first time Liv saw herself settling down with someone. Sure, he was a bit immature, but werenโ€™t all twenty-four years olds that had just hit their big break?

Speaking of breaks, theirs happened the summer of 2017 - several weeks after theyโ€™d properly introduced one another to their respectable families. Jeremy said they were going too fast and Liv agreed. The next six weeks were spent in complete and total radio silence. Liv was surprised that she didnโ€™t miss him as much as she thought she would. During the third week, she returned to London and didnโ€™t tell Jeremy. She thought about texting him, but didnโ€™t. They liked all of their Instagram photos; occasionally heโ€™d leave a sweet comment on one of her selfies before going back to his social media break. He drunkenly called her around the seven week mark. He said a Lily Cole song came on and reminded him of Liv and just how much he loved her. Unfortunately for Jeremy it was right then and there when Liv realized just how little she loved him.

    They broke up.

Six weeks later, People Magazine announced that her favorite popstar, Lily Cole, had gotten engaged to actor and comedianโ€ฆ. Jeremy Kant. Liv felt betrayed. Even though she and Lily had barely known one another, Liv felt particularly hurt by her. She always considered Lily to have good taste, especially when it came to men. I mean, she used to date Nathan Reed for Christ sake! Aka Livโ€™s very first celebrity crush and one of the hottest men thatโ€™s ever walked the Earth!

This unfortunate and very unlikely turn of events is exactly what made Livโ€™s journal entries to become more frequent than ever and eventually have her urge her agent to find someone willing to publish them. Liv had sworn to everyone in her life that the material she managed to put on paper during those three months of complete disarray has been one of her best work yet and what do you know - What Happens When Your Ex Gets Engaged to Your Favourite Popstar? became an overnight hit and most importantly, a bestseller.

Liv was once again relevant, if not more relevant than ever. There wasnโ€™t a single person on the planet that wasnโ€™t talking about her books. Tweets and memes and video essays were made. People said her collections of unhinged essays were an actual work of art and Liv gleefully basked in the limelight she once again managed to shed onto herself. There were talks about her book being turned into a Netflix original, but after several (failed) attempts to turn real-life situations into a fully functioning screenplay, not to mention the lawsuit Lily Cole threatened to send her way if such show ever sees the light of day, Liv decided to settle for Plan B: a comedy special.

Following the success of her very first memoir, Liv settled on slowly developing her second - this time focusing on her relationships with the people in her life and the man that started it all. Edge of Seventeen, despite not being as popular as her first, still managed to make the New York Times Bestseller List and grant her a spot on plenty of late night talk shows. The public was wondering about the identity behind the much older man Liv had fallen in love with when sheโ€™d just turned eighteen almost a whole decade ago. Speculations were made; conversations were started and plenty of women discussed whether it was ethical of Liv to even share these sordid details of her life. They said she was a bad role model to her younger audience and eventually forced Liv to go out and acknowledge her mistakes. Instead of putting out a statement, Liv tweeted the following: โ€˜idk if you forgot but i pretty much lost my chance at becoming some kidโ€™s rolemodel the moment i accepted my emmy pissed as a fart.โ€™

In 2019, after a lot of back and worth, she finally (FINALLY!) decided to sign a deal with something and just because she wanted to get back to Netflix for cancelling her show after its first season, she went with HBO. By now - and all thanks to her incredibly quotable memoirs - Liv had managed to make quite a name of herself in the industry, hence why she was given full creative control when it came to her brand new TV project. She wanted to stray away from Love Bug as much as possible; show people that she does have the range and talent and ability to bring home yet another Emmy (and possibly a Golden Globe nomination if sheโ€™s lucky?) Unfortunately, this new project has her completely tied down to the sunny lands of Los Angeles. Except this time, sheโ€™s going to do her best to do this whole Hollywood thing right.

Sheโ€™s pushing thirty in an apartment in West Hollywood that is so small itโ€™s criminal. Her landlord is constantly flirting with her because he probably thinks sheโ€™s one of those young and naive doe-eyed aspiring actresses and her neighborโ€ฆ. Good god her neighbor is none other than her very first celebrity crush Nathan FUCKING Reed! At first Liv thinks sheโ€™s dreaming - or worse hallucinating - because her first encounter with him did happen while she was tripping hard on some weed brownies. But after seeing him casually swimming in the community shared swimming pool the very next day, Liv is more than sure that heโ€™s real and living just several feet away from her.

Other things that are also important: she has finally decided on a name for her new and upcoming show: Lost Angeles - based on the novel sheโ€™s been writing since she first arrived in Hollywood at the tender age of nineteen. She started a podcast because despite all this work she still somehow manages to get some free time - plus, she likes being constantly busy. Being busy keeps her away from overthinking and slipping into a never ending loop of misery and self-doubt. She invented a boyfriend for herself, because boyfriends keep you relevant here in Hollywood and if thereโ€™s one thing she learned after the success of her second book is that the more the mystery surrounding oneโ€™s dating life, the bigger the limelight!
