Likes โœฎ record shops, the smell of coffee in the morning, cold weather, his brother, drawing, old comic books, spending his paycheck on the people he loves, cuddling, graphic tees, Dave's slightly burnt blueberry pancakes, rock music, big dogs, a cosy night in, lazy make-out sessions, River Phoenix, playing guitar, detective novels
Dislikes โœฎ the internalized homophobia his family (read: father) has instilled in him from a very young age, Elmwood Heights and its snobby elite, football (especially Superball season), cops, the military, any kind of authority figures that think owning a gun suddenly makes them important or whatever, the rampant, casual and quiet homophobia that still poisons his hometown (and the world in general), himself, the fact that even after all these years he's still ashamed of his own sexuality

Weaknesses โœฎ Terribly afraid of failure and letting others down (especially those he cares about and loves the most); a bit too sensitive for his own good; paranoid; brain is constantly riddled with all types of anxiety; worries a bit too much; often times thinks his friends don't like him as much as he likes them; too stubborn; keeps all his emotions to himself, never telling a soul about what's bothering him until he can't take it anymore and blows up; has absolutely zero respect when it comes to so called authority figures (cops especially), still plagued by his internalized homophobia, constantly hiding things from other (read: parents and close family members).
Strenghts โœฎ Dedicated and loyal to a fault, will literally move mountains for the people he loves (read: his little brother); is constantly able to provide a non-biased opinion; incredible sense of humor (if and when he's able to leave that pesky bubble of his); strangely observant (blame all those Detective comics he read as a kid); hard-working; loves a good challenge; stubbornly persistent; quite likely the best boyfriend you will ever have; fiercely protective; often times the glue that keeps friend groups together.

Pet Peeves โœฎ Toxic masculinity (that he somehow unwillingly adopts the second the comes back home), gun toting assholes, bad breath, homophobia.
Mannerisms & Quirks โœฎ Buries his eyes in the heels of his palms when stressed/tired/frustrated; his stutter always comes back when he tries to get his point across (especially when angry or stressed); cracks his knuckles compulsively; rapidly taps his foot against the floor when anxious; occasionally bites his nails; always makes a half-smile (full smiles and wide grins have somehow been reserved only for Dave); can literally fall asleep anywhere if tired enough; always walks with his head down and hands in his jacket's pockets.

    Love Language โœฎ Physical touch
Their Reaction to Threat โœฎ Goes incredibly quiet, you can barely hear him breathe as his mind begins to think of all the ways he can get himself and others out of trouble.
Their Reaction to Speculation โœฎ If it's about him? Deny, deny, deny or come up with various excuses. About others? Always thinks things through with painfully sober and unbiased thinking.

The oldest child of two Midwestern kids who got married too young, Scott has lived a majority of his life in the shadow of his parents' constant need of perfection and validation. When they stepped foot in Elmwood Heights twenty-four years ago, Arthur and Lyra Jenkins introduces themselves as young married couple, desperate for a fresh new start in a community that is so different from the one they grew up in.

They weren't hillbillies per say even though compared to the other, more accomplished and wealthy families, the Jenkins stood out like a sore thumb. But Lyra was persistent - her mother had given her a sophisticated name for a reason and she was willing to do anything in order to be just like the members of all those country clubs she worked in as a teenager. But the problems was in the following: she and her husband of barely a year were still teenagers themselves. Nineteen and lost; carrying far too many cash. Cash they only had in their possessions because Arthur had inherited it from his now late grandfather.

The summer of their first year in Elmwood, Arthur enlisted in the military, just like the men in his family had done many years before. Lyra on the other hand was alone and pregnant, living in a house that was a bit far too big and old. She never planned on being a military wife, even though she had been aware of her husband's ambitions for years. At first it sounded interesting, fun - telling others her beloved husband was fighting for their country, but now as she sat alone in the living room filled with old, second hand furniture she couldn't help but feel as if she was wasting her best years away.

They were expecting their first child but her husband wasn't here to witness any of the bliss. People looked at her funny - probably because they now lived in a house someone died in not so long ago. And most importantly, her fantasy of being the adored, new and mysterious neighbor was nowhere near coming true.

Arthur was still away when she gave birth to their first son: Scott Ingram Jenkins, one late February morning. The neighbors were there for her, having finally taken pity on the young pregnant twenty year old. It wasn't until years later, when Scott had started school that she gathered enough courage to start her own business wit Darla, a fellow waitress from the diner she once worked at.
And then she got pregnant again.

Lyra was too busy running her business. Arthur was in Afghanistan. And Scott? Scott was a shy, precocious six year old raising his baby brother. He understood very early on how little his parents care for both of them and how their loving and nurturing nature comes out only when others are watching. Or invited over for dinner or a BBQ. So it's no wonder, in the years that followed Scott often considered himself to be Carson's sole parental figure.
The bond he and his brother had created was unbreakable; no matter what, Scott always had time for Carson - so much that his life often times revolved around his wants and needs.

    And then it happened.
The news had their mother wailing for days.
They didn't know whether their father would survive. The damage on his body was massive.

Arthur returned to Elmwood Heights three months later, with an amputated leg, broken dreams and a nasty attitude. Always the doting wife, Lyra did anything to appease her husband's needs, but it was strange. She wasn't used to having him constantly in the house and the man that came back wasn't the same one she married fourteen years ago. Arthur took his anger and frustration out on his family. In front of others, he kept up the image his wife tried so hard to create during his absence. But behind closed doors it was hell.

Scott took solace in the fact that his father seemed to prefer Carson over him. It made Carson's life a lot easier. Carson was good at sports, a lot more sociable and a spitting image of the boy Arthur once was. Scott on the other hand struggled greatly. He helped out in his mother's shop, doing all the work females should do and becoming less and less of Arthur's idealized version of what the perfect son should look and act like.

Scott never considered himself to be different. He had inclinations that he was odder than most his peers. He always seemed to step away from the crowd. But it wasn't until he started to develop feelings for the brother of his first high school girlfriend. The sensations frightened him. What about Willa think? What would his father think? He'd certainly kick him out of the house or kill him. He was very vocal when it came to his distaste of them folks and he wasn't shy when it came to telling private stories about what they did to them folks in the military.

    Scott was scared.
His fear grew when Carson dropped football and decided to attend art classes instead. The reason he did that? Scott.
Scott had introduced him to comics.
Scott was always doodling in his notebooks and having his artwork showcased in various school art exhibitions.
Scott taught himself how to play the guitar.
Scott always told him to chase after his dreams even though most of the time they seemed scary and foreign.

Scott graduated high school in the summer of 2014.
He stayed in Elmwood due to Carson and his mom. Darla, his mother's business partner had recently lost her husband due to cancer and Lyra needed all the help she could get. So Scott reluctantly took Darla's place and his barely there relationship with his father wilted. But he was unhappy and his depressive attitude grew with each day he had to spent in the back office making lists and running errands. And then, like a beacon of hope, Lily his next door neighbor and best friend decided to move to New York City. Completely out of the blue. Not only that, she wanted Scott to come with her.

He knew his parents would never let him, despite him being of age.
    So he lied about enlisting.

New York City was a different world. It was loud and dangerous and exhilarating.
The apartment he and Lily lived in was small and rat infested but they were happy. Lily was managing a band she found via Instagram. They needed a lead guitarist. She recommended Scott and so The Private Idahos were formed.

Scott was happy. Happiest he's been years. His life in the city made him realize that this was the first time he's actually experienced any sort of serotonin rush. Occasionally Carson came to visit. He'd stay for the weekend and return home with all kinds of gifts and souvenirs. Scott's relationship with Arthur was nonexistent and he couldn't care less. He started doing online classes for graphic design since the music thing wasn't exactly making him much money. Lily and him could no longer afford to live in the apartment so they moved in with Dex, Julian and his Julian's brother Dave.

    Dave was....
    Dave is....
    An enigma.
Everything Scott wishes he could be: sociable, thick skinned, funny, optimistic, comfortable in his own skin and most importantly openly gay.

    Scott wasn't gay gay.
He often times found himself attracted to girls.
He was very attracted to his girlfriend at the time, but Dave... Dave was sweeter, funnier, actually paid attention to Scott when no one else was and laughed at his jokes even when they were bad.

Dave was the first person Scott came out to. He was drunk and his girlfriend had just broken up with him.
Scott asked Dave if he can kiss him.
Dave told him that he isn't going to be the person Scott would experiment on. He wanted the real thing.

After Scott was sure in his sexuality; after multiple weekends spend hooking up with random guys in various NYC gay bars, he and Dave started messing around. At first it was innocent: lazy Saturdays spent at home, lounging on the couch. Scott resting his head in Dave's lap because he was feeling sleepy and Dave casually running his fingers through Scott's hair. Soft touches as they passed one another in the kitchen. Hidden smiles and stolen glances. And then the kissing started. At first it was meaningless. Just two people finally succumbing to the attraction they've kept from one another for years. Their cat and mouse game lasted for two years. Everyone in their friend group knew and constantly teased them about it.

At the time Scott didn't want a boyfriend. His internalized homophobia constantly told him that he's supposed to be normal and end up with a woman.
But he didn't want to be normal.
He wanted Dave and Dave wanted him.

Six months ago they finally decided to make it official.
Several weeks prior their seventh month anniversary they moved in together.
Scott is happy. The happiest he's been in ages.
And then his brother goes missing and the happiness slowly fades away.

How long have they been living in Elmwood Heights? โœฎ With the exception of the last five years, Scott has been a resident of Elmwood Heights for almost his entire life.
How do they feel about living here? โœฎ Elmwood brings Scott nothing but terrible memories, although being part of the dreaded community hasn't always been as bad as he often claims. He had friends that liked and respected him, hobbies and fun, but all of that is tainted by the front his family always put out in order to fit with the wealthy and seemingly perfect elite community. After leaving Elmwood at the brisk age of ninteen Scott had no intentions of ever going back. He hates it there, so he always came up with excuses when holiday season would come round. But now, that his brother has gone missing, Scott has no other choice but to suck it all up and return once and for all.
Are they involved in community activities ( town halls, organising local events, chaperoning, etc. )? โœฎ God no. His mother insists he should though
What are their thoughts on the disappearances, and the weird things happening leading up to the Thom twins going missing? โœฎ Scott isn't all too surprised. Perfect doesn't exist and all of those families claiming to be the best thing since sliced bread are further proof. Something bad was about to happen anytime soon but he never expected it would include his little brother. Truth be told, Scott couldn't care less about the Thom twins. No one did when Carson disappeared so why the hell should he care about two spoiled girls he had zero connections with? The only person he cares about is his brother; he's growing more and more scared about Carson's fate with each passing day he doesn't show up on the porch of their childhood home. He blames himself for his brother's disappearance. Maybe if he wasn't such a selfish big brother, maybe Carson would be temporarily living with him and Dave instead of being...... somewhere.
