The Stage Outfit Breakdown: Flaming Heart era

  • This post is inspired by a JCC Episode where Johnny & Jaehyun having an interview with the designer behind their stage outfits during "Punch" era

"Flaming Heart" era is about to end next week 😒

I know this is an iconic era thanks to your never-ending love for SeuBimz. I can't do ranking outfits like @cherrybomb-ofc since I adore their outfits a lot. Shout out to SeuBim's siblings from another parent err, company, T3AR for your participation in the MV (@moonanons @bumbleeanons @JDK @trevor2 @junelilliesanons @I.Coco @daeyang-ent)

If you want to see the outfits, you can check out the weekly promotion roundup (Comeback Week, 2nd Week, 3rd Week & 4th Week)

First things first, "Flaming Heart" is about a girl letting the flame in heart burn as she plays a dangerous game called love. As you all know, it's inspired by the famous tragedy, Romeo & Juliet but I changed the ending kekekekeke. R & J deserved better than their fams' BS ✊

While other ByulBis said that it was Star Beam's diss against haters who love to interfere with their maknae's dating life by calling her names and wishing that she should break up with him. Suprise, they are still going strong and happily dating! Some ByulBis said that Chaehee, Jeonah, Saeyoon & Yujia wrote this song because they think that idol dating is like the story of Romeo & Juliet who struggled a lot just for them to be together.

    Red vs. Blue

    πŸ“’ NEWS FLASH! πŸ“’

You can be inspired by a IRL group's concept while being true to your style without being literal copycats

Since "Flaming Heart" originally has game concept, I was super inspired by NCT 127's "Punch" era by incorporating red & blue color scheme in stage outfits. I focused on the 'warrior aspect' of Romeo & Juliet where 2 houses are rivals by having them wear red & blue onstage

Actually this is the main inspiration in the stage outfits to show Star Beam's strong heroine side

The inspiration "Punch" give is prominent in their comeback stage in M Countdown where they filmed their performance twice (hence, ByulBis got 16 fancams to stream in that episode):

For Theorist ByulBis... Red and Blue (which became a color code to Capulets and Montagues respectively in the promotion materials) are prominent onstage because according to Color Meanings:

Red and Blue can also be referred to 'Red Flame' and 'Blue Flame' (Arohas anyone?)

Also ByulBis noticed the recurring pattern of them wearing gold jewelry to symbolize wealth since both houses are in the noble class, in my theory, their fight is all about wealth and power to the point where it gets too personal.

Since Yujia played Juliet in the MV and you notice that she always wear hair accessories (the other members also do that but not as often as Yujia) as my way to reference on how Romeo met Juliet (like it feels like a religious experience LIKE WHAT?!) through religious metaphors with a halo like headband.

On the fashionable perspective, Blake Lively is one of my favorite Met Gala 2018 looks that made me inspired to dress up Yujia's dark hair

Another group that inspired the red & blue theme is ONEUS thanks to their rendition of Infinite's "Be Mine" in Road to Kingdom (I will discuss Infinite's inspiration later on) thanks to the Blue & Red Roses

    SUMMER CONCEPT THEIR WAY

On the other side of things... Summer in the K-pop realm means donning bright tropical prints, crop tops and shorts, the girls also wore summery outfits as an ode to our male lead, Romeo played by the iconic Leonardo Di Caprio. Leo's portrayal of Romeo became the inspiration of NCT 127's Johnny & Jaehyun's photoshoot for W Korea

In case you don't follow this account for a while, these two are the muses of the song, "Flaming Heart"

This time... the colors used were blue, yellow and orange to mimic summer.

    LAST JULIET

Aside from the jewel toned and summery fits, SeuBim also paid tribute to Infinite's "Last Romeo" era (probably the most famous Romeo & Juliet concept in K-pop IRL) by wearing black and white inspired by the teaser photo above. They also wear black and white onstage too to express the tragic ending of the play.

    WHY PEPLUM?

Yes, SeuBim still wear crop tops but these days, they go for peplum tops so they look like they have hourglass figures without the crash diets (plus they are naturally athletic and skinny since childhood so please stop body shame them). Also they love to wear that with shorts and jeans instead of uncomfy mini-dresses (It's the girls who decided to wear that style) to have that 'warrior princess' feel and so they need to clothes that can help them move freely.

I hope that you will love this post about how I choose their stage outfits for "Flaming Heart" era (please upvote and comment)
