The other Palace siblings often forget that the littlest amongst them joined Brian Palace when she was six. This is understandable, considering there's little inclination that Zelda's suffered anything traumatic. She's soft-spoken, often speaking in a dream-like tone that suggests she's having a reverie about her past incarnations. However, beyond her gentle appearance, there are some obvious inclinations that she's suffered something malign. For instance, she's the adult version of a toddler that is constantly tugging on someone's pant leg, gasping for someone to stick by her. It's no coincidence that if she isn't begging for someone's attention, Zelda is off under a tree with an animal, more than likely talking to it. Ultimately, she wasn’t to please others, especially her siblings who have stood by her through everything. If only they didn’t pull her in two different directions- two different Zeldas. That isn’t even counting the one Brian Palace created.

At her core, she is a star-studded, hippie queen! Zelda will never be the life of the party, but she's known to crack joke after joke with her adoptive brother, 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐄𝐑. Drunk Zelda is known to do shitty, unwanted covers of the group's acts or to force others to withstand her Juggalo makeovers. Outside of a distinctly social context, however, she's pretty reserved until she gets comfortable enough to roast the absolute shit out of someone. She's not known to hold back, ever, and this usually gets her into trouble. Meaning it only in fun and a twisted sense of affection, Zelda doesn’t understand why people get offended. To her, it’s pretty lowbrow stuff. She could be meaner if she wasn’t joking. In fact, the kind girl could belittle a person to the point of immense shame if she needed to. Of course, World War Z doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Kind of. It’s a bit more complicated than that.

Zelda Rae’s favorite ground is the middle. Outwardly, she’s wishy-washy to the point of annoyance, but internally she has a strong moral code. She just happens to be very good at ignoring it. That’s her motto- Ignore it until it festers. One could never call Zeldy a proactive person. There’s one thing she doesn’t procrastinate the shit out of, and that’s working on her performance for the circus. Even with her “father” breathing down her neck, she can’t muster up the desire to reach the end of the finish line, especially with this mission. Screw her for finding it fun! That’s half the point of living, according to her.

One last note- don’t fight with Zelda. Ever. Just not a good idea. Seen that one scene in the terribly hilarious DCom Sky High? Zeldy angry like when the green-thumb redhead takes down the cheerleader with her numerous plants. Instead of plants, it’s words and intimidating looks from her menagerie of animals, including the tiger and the lion. Though Zelda struggles to have a backbone, she won’t stand to be “bullied” {Which is just general disagreement} in an argument, even if it’s a simple conversation about whether or not dogs or cats are better.

𝓛𝓲𝓴𝓮𝓼: calling movies films ✧ eating non-dairy ice cream from the tub ✧ cuddling with an animal ✧ having her arm draped around someone’s shoulder ✧ editing ✧ sending people memes related to their astrology sign ✧ laughing with her friends ✧ talking to the townspeople at the different places the circus stops ✧ giving tours of her bus ✧ having someone she cares about sign their name (or paw print) to her bus ✧ blasting music using the PA system of her bus ✧ dressing up as Stevie Nicks but as a clown ✧ same thing with Elvis ✧ making people laugh

𝓕𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓼: her father ✧ disappointing others ✧ conflict ✧ loud movie theaters ✧ spending more than $5 at a time ✧ being called “crazy” or something along those lines ✧ dreaming ✧ her siblings abandoning her ✧ losing brief moments of happiness ✧ forgetting things ✧ the dark ✧ hurting animals or assisting in their abuse ✧ being powerless ✧ inauthenticity

    ✧ 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬

Considered the baby of the Palace siblings, Zelda is often controlled and pulled in different directions, specifically the one 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 and 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐋 𝐎𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐇 wants her to go in versus the path 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐄𝐑 suggests. 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐄𝐑 encourages a certain amount of authenticity, especially one of fuck the man variety. In part, this is why they get along so well. He makes suggestions, while it feels like her other siblings force their opinions onto her. Granted, she loves them all immensely, but it’s difficult to sort through the ten million emotions and ideas thrown at her. Why can’t they let Mr. Fitzgerald’s Wife be who she is?

Of course, things would be much simpler without their father involved.

    ✧ 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

Being the youngest, one would think Zelda has ample amount of attention. She would feel the most in her element. She doesn’t, however, and it’s one of her greatest goals in life. Find her home. There’s a reason why she looks to a movement based around peace, love, and community as an inspiration. Her dream life involves escaping the perpetual ruin of Brian Palace’s rein, but she knows its a pipe dream. Oh and this dream life might involve a wife in there, especially one who’s slightly scary. Her own little bad boy with a heart of gold, except it’s a pretty girl.

    ✧ 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝

Zelda became the girl who lived when she was given to Brian Palace, though not willingly. Her mutation developed at about 5 and a half, which her parents discovered after she was found cuddling the gorillas at the zoo. However, this was after she’d called all the bird and butterflies to her and practically held hands with a bear through the glass plate between them. Others had taken notice, and it didn’t take long before people began to, quite literally, spit in her direction. Everywhere, her neighbors saw the little kindergartner as a threat to their existence, though she’d never hurt anyone with her abilities. Until she had to.

Although Zelda has always been a bit too innocent for her own good, she has never been idiotic. When a guy in a white van attempted to nab her while she was leaving the woods around her grandma’s property, she was left with no other choice than to call upon the wolves and mountain lions she’d been with moments earlier. He was slaughtered, and even though she explained the context, it was all in vain. Then Brian Palace came into the picture on the eve of her 6th birthday. He spun a tale of her uniqueness, even bringing into her leap year birthdate he somehow knew, and convinced her parents that she would be more useful for society in his care. He’d teach her how to help rid the world of her kind, at least the “dangerous” ones. Plus- she wouldn’t be potentially tried as an adult for her crimes. In fact, she wouldn’t be tried at all. Perfect, right?

This isn’t that kind of story, and even baby Zelda knew her fairy tales and love for Aladdin wasn’t going to ever be a reality. Something about Palace always felt off, and one look at her newfound family proved right. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐋 𝐎𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐇 hadn’t joined them yet, but it didn’t take long to see her broken down either. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 often stuck to Palace’s side, and he looked down on her when she first arrived. He even made fun of her mutation, calling it the most useless piece of shit ever. Granted, he still doesn’t believe he really has one, though Zelda knows there has to be a reason why he was found out. 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐄𝐑 had black circles under his eyes when she arrived, not quite over what he endured when he first arrived. She soon learned this was a universal experience, given Brian Palace’s systematic breaking of his “children.” You adjust, you change, and you learn to keep the parts of yourself separate. The Zelda most know isn’t the one she would say she learned to be, but it is the one she likes the most.

However, her siblings did come to protect her, even if they had their own drama to cope with. To some extent, she had a fairly normal adolescence. At least she got to experiment with her emo phase and her far-too intense Juggalo phase that Palace could only justify with her recent position in the circus. That doesn’t mean she hasn’t experienced her fair share of trauma or conditioning. She has. Zelda is just thankful to have people who try to protect her, even if they don’t understand the difference between protection and control.

    ✧ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬

Although Zeldy cannot communicate as truthfully with humans, her vulnerability with the animals she communicates with leads her to a greater ability to control and communicate with them. They want to listen to her, and that makes all the difference. Besides that, she genuinely cares for each and every one of them, showing her love physically through pets or through her thoughts and compassion for their pain.

    ✧ 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬

One would assume talking to animals is easy, but she isn’t good with long distances or controlling them when she is upset. While she can usually muster up the energy for it, if she had a spat with a sibling or simply feels a little lovesick, she can’t call upon them to do her bidding in any sense. However, moments of panic are completely different and they seem to listen better in those moments.

✧ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

To some extent, without her animals, Zelda would probably be very lonely. However, she’s been taught to look at it with scorn, even though she struggles to find an issue with the ability to talk to her furry friends. Besides that, they’re sometimes better at listening than her siblings or any friend that she could have. They care, and she cares about them. Even if she has to look at it as something unnatural, despite feeling like it’s the only natural part of her.

Prior to the events of the show, Zelda dresses up as a princess and entices young children in with her ability to speak to deer and birds. She looks fairly angelic. However, once the show begins, World War Z is in full clown garb: white face, cute little blue nose, red arrows, painted-on lashes, etc. She dresses to the nines. Her dance number includes her clown posse {their insanity is yet to be determined}, who she helps with their makeup every show. They do a ballet routine in frilly dresses and pointe shoes.

It begins with the other clowns arranged at the edge of the ring with Zelda in the middle. She’s holding something close to her chest. A few seconds into the song, she releases her pet butterfly, Mr. Clean, into the air. He flutters amongst the other dancers as she gets up, fluttering her feet in third position and arms in second. Thus begins her solo with her body in constant, soft motion until the music swells. Then, she stands perfectly still, statuesque. Once the beat drops, the circle of clowns around her begins to spin as the ring moves in a separate orbit around Zelda. At the mention of the devil, the circle breaks apart, resulting in the utter chaos of jetes, pirouettes, and lifts that are only complimented by the technicolor dream of butterflies, birds, and other flying species. On the ground, the deer, tiger, and bear under the ring, gathering around Zelda. They bow to her, and with her face gleeful, she dances fairy-like around them.

This continues until the end of the song, as the tempo slows down gradually. Then, the animals begin to run off in fear, fleeing as a show comes over the tent. Every one of the dancing clowns cowers in fear, kneeling on the ground. However, Zelda brushes it off, continuing the dance and helping her fellow clowns up. They exit, dragging their ribbons with gleeful excitement as they chase off the shadow.

    ✧ 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬

✧ Started smoking when she was thirteen, but she's somehow avoided smoker's breath with copious amounts of mints and mouthwash
✧ Her "RV" is actually a restored school bus she convinced everyone to help her paint a vibrant mix of colors. She shares it with {CHARACTER TBD}.
✧ Vegan, given her ability to speak to animals
✧ Secretly dreams of settling down in the woods with her family and friends; In her dreams, everyone is happy and normal
✧ Though she enjoys her time with the wild animals she encounters on the road, it's difficult. Being raised by Brian Palace led her to loathe herself and her abilities, though everyone in the circus outside of her family seems to think it's pretty great...
✧ In another life, she was a bunny. But a bunny who dressed in gogo boots and listened to Janis Joplin.
✧ Definitely believes in Karma and reincarnation, though wouldn't necessarily consider herself a Buddhist
✧ Once dreamed of being a professional roller skater, giving her an entire repertoire of tricks. Zelda will often bust out the skates during her performance
✧ Her role as a ditzy clown in the show is actually a dream come true. None of her siblings understood it and often hid it from Brian Palace, but she dreamed of becoming a Juggalo, even perfecting her look during her tween years. Thankfully, Zelda is more of a fan of the creepy clown doll look + making it cutesy.
✧ Least favorite part of the show? Dressing up as a princess and enticing kids in before the show with her ability to interact with deers, dogs, and everything in between. Favorite? Performing with her fellow clown friends or calming {NAME. PERHAPS TITUS?}, the show's lion after the show. She may not agree with the circus' business practices, but she can at least help make those negatively affected feel more comfortable.
✧ Gay as f!ck but is terrified of coming out, even though 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐄𝐑 is. Plus- she hasn't exactly realized it herself. To some extent, Zelda Rae knows. She has to! But the other half of her refuses to acknowledge it. Her other siblings simply wouldn't understand, and they might even rat her out to Palace over it.
    ✧ Speaking of gay thoughts and feelings, she has a crush on {NAME TBD}
✧ Secretly filming a documentary, hence why her phone is out all the time. Her father thinks it's simply "recon" info, but it's something she takes time to edit and sift through about once a week.
✧ Film buff and hippie historian; will probably tell someone off about Fight Club and how it's actually making fun of toxic masculinity
✧ Learned all her favorite lines to Monty Python and the Holy Grail; will quote them when drunk
✧ Has a collection of Russian nesting dolls as mementos from most resale shops she stops by

    ✧ 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬

    {Perhaps things your character might have said, ones that apply to them like song lyrics or by a role model, quotes from those around them, etc.}
