"The Road to Queendom (Star Beam for Elle Korea)

  • The year was 2017.

They debuted in a year where many aspiring idols fight their way to survival and on the other side 7 year curse plagued many groups in the K-pop industry. They are not from the Big 3, they never joined a survival show predebut and they don't have a popular sunbae to back them up in their company. Star Beam proved to us that those circumstances doesn't make them less as idols.

In 3 years of their fruitful career, they were mocked relentlessly but it didn't bother them. They earned those stones thrown to them and used them as building blocks to their queendom that we all know now. Now as one of the most popular and talented girl groups of between the 3rd and 4th generation of K-pop, the girls continued to work hard to be better than ever by consistently breaking their own records and earning the love and respect of their loyal fanbase and industry colleagues.

They were known to everyone as 'princesses' thanks to their concept but this time, they transformed themselves as 'witches' because of their experience in the industry. They considered themselves as 'the late-players' of their generation which has the tendency to be called as 'copycats' from KNetz if they follow the trend but instead, they focused on creating a concept that has their personal stamp: re-imagined fairy tale characters as modern women. The fairy crush (fairy tale + girl crush) resonate so much to the fans to the point that they have 4 successful comebacks with this particular concept ("Mermaid Princess", "Starry Moment", "I Am" & "Love is Over").

Recently, their new comeback "Love is Over" became successful in the charts in spite of irregular promotions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the girls are very eager to promote their song on SNS & occasional music show broadcasts for their fans. To celebrate their comeback, they raise funds from their V-Lives and album sales for the relief.

From writing and choreographing songs, hosting music shows, appearing in variety shows, creating contents, to acting in music videos, Star Beam is unstoppable from Day 1. Actually "Love is Over" is poking fun of how the media and haters perceived celebrity break ups and the group themselves as witches who lured the attention of a certain boy group to advance in their popularity. Well in reality, Star Beam became successful because of their hard work.

They proved to us that angels are real, they wished that everyone will live healthily and happily other than earning the coveted music show trophy. We see them grow in from wide-eyed rookies to a force to be reckoned in the Hallyu Wave, we're excited to see their next conquests in the future.

Let us enjoy a new chapter, a new era with these gorgeous K-pop heroines.
