With their hustler mindset, sunny personality, real chemistry, striking visuals, and raw talent, Star Beam slowly but surely caught the hearts of many fans around the world. We catch up with the adorable septet as they talk about their Houston experience, their stage outfits inspired by Selena Quintanilla, their closeness with their fellow artist and Houston Rodeo headliner, NCT 127, Hyoshin's Disney OST gig and their upcoming comeback.

To get to know these Korean sweethearts, Star Beam is a 7 membered girl group debuted in 2017 and since then, they received awards for their hits in which majority of them were written and produced themselves . For 3 years and counting, they are the forces to be reckoned in the K-pop scene. The members are Ryuna , Chaehee, Chloe (acted as the translator whenever they have overseas schedule because she is a Korean-American but everyone understands at least a bit of English), Hyoshin, Jeonah, Saeyoon & Yujia (the Chinese member).

Hello girls!!!! Welcome to Houston, Texas!!!! and Congratulations to be the first K-pop girl group to be part of the Houston Rodeo! How is your overall experienced?
Ummm... At first, I was nervous because rodeo shows doesn't typically match with K-pop but okay fine, we are grateful with the response
We were so so shocked on how our fans [ByulBis] cheering on us. I thought they would make fun of us because majority of us [Korean members] don't speak their language fluently but we understand bit by bit
K-pop fans are super passionate. You will still spot them even from miles away and in the most unexpected events
Going to the rodeo is so much fun~~~ We got to interact with animals, eat Tex-Mex food and interact with the locals
I lost count with how many tacos I ate in the entire trip

One thing shookt me is how big the belt buckle is

Tex-Mex food is indeed delicious. Well speaking of Tex-Mex, you girls made headlines by wearing outfits inspired by Selena Quintanilla for this event. Who have an idea?
Meeeeeee I mean, why not pay homage to the Queen of Tejano Music in Houston through her outfits? Also I observed that she likes to wear crop tops onstage just like every female K-pop idol but Yujia's onstage look [crop top + jeans] reminds me of Selena the most

Yeah. I'm guilty~~~ Okay, from what I can remember, Chloe asked us [the members and our stylist unnie] to watch the biopic about Selena then all of us cried so hard in the ending. She doesn't deserve it. I hope she guided her family and her fans up there.
I observed that she likes timeless pieces just like we do but we are more modest than her

Let's talk about Hyoshin who just bagged an OST gig with Disney by singing the Korean version of "Reflection" for the live action remake of "Mulan"
I'm so honored to be part of this project. When I was younger, I dreamed of singing for the OST of a KDrama but here we are~~~ I can relate to Mulan because she is resilient & while I internalized the lyrics, I remember those days when I was bullied in high school which ruined my confidence that I have to pretend who I was. But them, music helped me to be a better person.

So you & NCT 127 were K-pop headliners for Houston, what can the locals expect about your performance?
I hope they realized that K-pop has so much to offer with so many artists in Korea yet to be discovered. Each K-pop artist has their own flair so It's worth to check out
Our hope after Houston Rodeo is that they will have deeper understanding in K-pop that it has quality that makes the genre a league of its own. With this trip, we also have a deeper understanding towards other genres. Though this, we are motivated to promote K-pop around the world
NCT 127 are one of our closest friends in the industry and we are so happy to see them succeed slowly but surely

They [NCT 127] told us that they saw you grow as artists in the span of 3 years and counting
Yeah, it's true since most of our promotions were overlapped with theirs. And that friendship is a slow-burn

So what are your goals on your upcoming comeback?
Due to the growing concern of preventing Covid-19, we try to put more content on SNS in order to communicate with our fans rather than to risk ourselves and the worse, our fans. [Ed: 10.5 M won (from their earnings) for Covid-19 prevention]
We are about to begin the final stage of comeback preparations so we are excited to meet healthy ByulBis soon when the time is right!
