๐๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ธ๐พ๐ผ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ผ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ท๐ฌ๐ฎ(๐ผ) โกLiving in San Diego his entire life, Aran has had only a few different places he's called home. His mother and father moved the family only once during his adolescence. And they only moved down the block to a bigger home after his father got a promotion. The wildest his living situation ever got (outside of living on his own) was when they lived with his dementia-ridden grandmother, for three months during their second home's renovations. A true bohemian, his grandmother was Maude from Harold and Maude to the core; her house was shrouded in plants (a trait he picked up), sage-flavored incense (to which Aran question why she didn't just burn sage) constantly burned, and she read people's fortunes for a little extra retirement funding (which she promptly spent at the casino). His parents would call this the worst three months of their lives, but Aran calls it the best and the most formative.
Other than his two childhood homes (that looked the same in Aran's mind), Aran also lived in the SDSU dorms for the first three years of his academic career. His roommate, Carlson, was an intellectual snob that reminded him of FOUR, but Carlson also made him realize how much better FOUR is.

Aran currently lives on his own in an apartment off-campus. It's tiny to the point where if he coughs, a paper on the other side of the room moves. Still, A.J. loves it with all his heart, decorating it with numerous pots of foliage and hanging up his treasured movie posters. It certainly beats paying to stay on campus during vacation only to suffer going home at the end of the year.

As the glue of the group, Aran is extremely aware of other people's needs and opinions. He ensures anyone and everyone feels welcome and loved. Believing in karmic justice, Aran does this in hopes of people reciprocating the kindness he spreads. Suffering from a sub-par high school social experience, he knows what it's like to feel left out, so he has a tendency to organize every social event and D&D game to a T. Aran can't have a brunch without giving everyone a place card, attempting to mix up the group and keep everyone in touch with each other. He's the one who always messages the group chat first, asking everyone for an update on their life. He would never exclude anyone, and he expects to be involved. In fact, he'll make himself involved.
On top of being hyper-involved with everyone's lives and ultra-supportive, Aran is a calming presence. Perhaps it can come across as uncaring to the unfamiliar eye, but he's incredible at quieting a room of everyone's worries. In addition to this, he's able to read a room quickly, picking up on the minute details and intricate emotions. Because of this, he's the type of person to hug someone without needing to know what's going on. Due to his family's tendency to ignore him, Aran is an expert at making people feel loved and understood. He believes in being supportive without being pushy (or so he thinks). Aran doesn't need to know why you're crying, even if he's going to grill you once those tears dry up.

Aran chooses to call his intense involvement in his friends' lives being over-protective. A less conservative judgment would be that he's overbearing and controlling. It comes from a good place, but he can't reel it in to a normal level. Often times, he'll get into fights about what his behavior is classified as. So maybe he spent two hours Insta-stalking that girl you mentioned finding cute in your Psych class or he emailed your professor about you being sick... that just means he cares! He'll defend you to the very end, but he can't promise he won't cause bodily harm to the one who hurt you.
Unfortunately, Aran also suffers from being a massive gossip. He can't seem to keep everyone's ideas to himself. This comes from his tendency to be "too much" when it comes to caring for others. He just needs to discuss with his nearest confidant about how to deal with your choice in significant other. There's an inherent attempt to do good with this also, but, obviously, he's telling everyone other people's business.
On top of Aran's intense involvement in other people's lives, he's extremely particular about how things are done. He feels compelled to control everything, and if it isn't done the "proper way," he'll take over the entire situation. Aran will fix anything he feels wasn't done right. This makes him awful in group projects, but it can also annoy his friends, especially when playing D&D. He hates it when other people mess with his narrative, convinced his creativity is enough to create a magical experience for everyone. Overall, Aran is an awful collaborator.
Aran can just... be a lot to handle. He's lovable, definitely, but he tends to be over-the-top about everything. Simple isn't a normal appearance when it comes to Aran. He prefers to call this eccentricity, like the type a billionaire who invests in flamethrowers or Beanie Babies has. Still, it's often more annoying than anything. He comes to every D&D meeting with mood music ready, a powerpoint of aesthetic pictures, and even props if he has the time. At his apartment, he has a collection of those plastic babies that are a meme except he paints them all and creates specialized name tags for them. They're essentially his form of an old woman's tchotchkes. Perhaps some of this is a strength, but it intensifies his other faults.
Even before the games began to infiltrate his life, Aran is a master in the art of deceptiveness. He's able to live two different personalities simultaneously, and, when he gets caught, it tends to piss people off. He's either this hyper-organized, over-bearing, lovable geek or he's dealing weed at the next frat party. This makes him a fantastic liar by default. Aran can easily slip from one personality to the other, and he often feels terrible about it. He isn't a compulsive liar, but he does what he can whilst suffering a massive identity crisis.
๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ๐ธ๐ท๐ช๐ต๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ โก
As one of the more classically nerdy people of the group, Aran still holds onto a lot of his freshman year passions (despite not really being that guy anymore). He's a Trekkie, rages about GoT (especially that last season), reads the books before the movies/tv shows, and frequents various fan-theory Reddits. Another remnant of his younger and much more innocent self is his "go-get-'em attitude". He doesn't use it for acing exams anymore, but it's still a huge part of Aran's personality. Now, he uses it to keep his double life a secret from his family and friends. Flying by the seat of his pants, Aran manages to be in two places at once, be two people at once. Needless to say, he's suffering a huge identity crisis, even without the help of magic. Determination is a guiding light for Aran, and he uses it for good and bad (depending on your interpretation).
Spending a large amount of high school friends-less (or with shitty ones), Aran wore the label of "nerd" as a badge of honor. Although he's definitely grown past limiting his identity to one thing, he's still seen as the smart one by his peers- despite failing half of his classes this semester. Witty, without the wool pulled over his eyes, and a problem-solver, Aran is still as intelligent as he was in high school. Knowing that there are people much smarter than him (FOUR, for one), Aran has a tendency to overcompensate by being the leader of any function. Although his glaring flaws have the capability to make a group project or outing miserable, he's still the best one for the job. Unwilling to let obstacles get in his way, Aran will ride into the storm first, leading the pack into war. In a more practical sense, he's the type of guy to order waters for the whole table at a restaurant so nobody sits in awkward silence and glaring at the waiter.

Ever the networker, Aran is close to everyone in the group. He considers everyone his best friend because he'd never want anyone to feel left out. If there's a social way to fluff someone's pillow so they're more comfortable on a Goodwill-bought, boney couch, Aran is doing it constantly. Yes, he's "meddlesome," but he doesn't see it that way. Protective and eager to please, Aran is always the one to call you just to ask about how you're doing.
As one of DM, he's also felt immense pride from the job. It's an outlet for his creativity, but it also allows him to lead. He's in control, something he desperately misses in his life outside of D&D. Still, despite an ultra-supportive friend, he can't help but feel slighted by Lawrence. Bringing new books, tricks, and knowledge, Lawrence has a tendency to steal the show from Aran. Although he knows it isn't intentional, he can't help but be frustrated. It's rare that the attention focuses on his. Still, he knows Lawrence isn't always liked by everyone, so he keeps this to himself.
Perhaps one of the closest he's to within the group, Achara and he have been DMs since the group's inception. The two switched off and on again as DM, until this final game came around. They came up with the idea of them both operating as DM and the twist story line for the campaign. The two, alike in many ways, simply want to create an everlasting memory for the group. Even if they tend to butt heads from time to time.
Violet being his former crush, Aran is well aware of the strain romantic relationships between people in the group can create. When he announced to Violet his feelings, the group didn't speak for several weeks, not even to plan the next campaign. The awkwardness and the fear of having to choose sides caused everyone to ghost the group chat, even if they didn't care if Aran liked Violet. Aran has never felt worse than when he caused the momentary lapse in the group's activities. Vowing to never allow romantic relationships within the group to happen, this is another area his tendency to be invasive comes in.
๐๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ผ & ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐ช๐ถ๐ผ โก
โก If life were really to go Aran's way, he'd be a director and screenplay writer. Alas, he hopes he gets to do the ads, particularly the art and commercial directing, for films, at least.
โก As a hopeless romantic, Aran hopes to find someone who loves him how his parents love each other. Ever the giver, he wants to love someone with the intensity of a baseball bat hitting a ball.
โก Impress his parents. As the only child not PhD-bound, he senses Moon, his mother, and Kasem, his father, aren't over the moon over their son's decisions. At least he chose a money-making career, unlike film.
โก Move out of San Diego and live in Italy. Or Iceland. Anywhere but San Diego.
๐๐ฎ๐ช๐ป๐ผ & ๐๐ท๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐พ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ผ โก
โก Despite working to make people feel included, Aran fears that no one actually likes him. Or, they only like him to a certain extent. He has a tendency to be hyper-aware of his faults and feels powerless to change them.
โก As earlier touched on, Aran's parents haven't really expressed pride in Aran since he was in high school. Ever the pleaser, he wants to make them see how his life doesn't have to be like theirs. What's happy for his parents aren't always what's good for him and vice versa.
โก Failure. As a former over-achiever, Aran fears that any endeavors (like, for instance, his side hustle as a weed dealer) will fall flat. He constantly wonders if he'll ever be successful. Hell, he can't really tell you if he knows what being successful really means.
โก Given that he's changed, as normal people do, Aran worries that people who understood him in freshman year of high school (i.e. the group, his parents, his D&D buddies from high school, his brother and sister) won't like him now that he isn't as black and white. He parties on the weekend, making decent money selling, and he hates school now. He prefers to watch TV or go out with friends. He even likes working at the dog kennel more than going to class and having professors talk at him about the Psychology of Advertising 101 and other uninteresting (at least to him) topics.
๐ข๐ฝ๐ป๐ฎ๐ท๐ฐ๐ฝ๐ฑ๐ผ โก
Ever the party planner, Aran is the king of organization. He usually has every minute written down to a T. At one point, he even considered inviting someone else into the D&D group just to record the minutes of the campaigns, logging every single move. He used to channel this into his schoolwork, but, with friends he actually cares about, he uses this talent for social functions. It's a rare day when there's a D&D meeting or "study group" that he hasn't baked a batch of themed cupcakes for.
He's intrinsic to people's moods, though he isn't always great at reacting "the right way" to them (so he's overbearing... give 'em a break!). He genuinely wants to listen to your problems, but he makes no promises that he won't try to fix them for you or give you unrequested advice.
Perhaps it's a mildly useless skill, but Aran grows some of the best cannabis potheads have ever smoked. He has the patience to coax the plants into a strong and healthy form. This translates into the rest of life since he's willing to play the long game with anything. Whether it be in the name of an unrequited crush, an angry friend, or with his critical mother (okay... so he has less patience for her, but still. He's willing to wait, though angrily). Aran believes in chipping someone bit by bit until they give up what's eating away at them, though he probably knows what's going on before it's revealed.
With this keen skill to work a person down, Aran is also spectacular at making people feel comfortable. He hated standing out in high school and how he continues to stick out with his family, so inclusivity is important to him. He loves to pick up stray animals or people he sees drinking alone at a cafe. Although he's particular about the D&D group, he loves inviting new people to a party or just to hang out at his apartment (which he loves showing off).
๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ช๐ด๐ท๐ฎ๐ผ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ผ โก
Aran has a soft spot for people who go unnoticed like he did in high school, but this can result in him being too trusting. You'd think, after several two-faced friendships that ended in his tears, he'd learn to be apprehensive towards new people. Nope, Aran just doesn't roll that way. He still believes in the good nature of people, even if he continually finds people who are, in his words, "utter dicks."
Growing up as the odd one out in school, Aran has a tendency to be oversensitive to criticism against him. He worked desperately in high school to impress his teachers, parents, and grandma. Unfortunately, only the last one really understood and celebrated his achievements. With his parents constantly reminding him of his siblings' successes, he hates it when friends comment on his nosey-ness or his controlling attitude, even if it's just a joke. He's hyper-aware of his flaws, and although he's quick to brush it off, taking on the stoic personality of his father, it's easy to dismantle him in an argument with a simple insult.
On the note of arguing, Aran can't. He either digresses into screaming "I'm right!" or he gets weirdly calm and unresponsive. Really, he just avoids it at all costs. Friends of Aran know this, so even when he's crossed them with his recent bout of gossiping, they're slow to argue. They simply tell him to try not to do it anymore, even if this is ineffective. It's a lot better than the alternative: emo Aran who doesn't talk to you for a week but still manages to stare at you, with puppy dog eyes, from across the lecture hall.
This one is quite meaningless, but he can't spell. Like... at all. Sure, it stems a lot from his severe dyslexia, but still. He's easily frustrated over any essay assignment, and with a lot of his interests revolving around writing (Advertising, film, and even just drafting campaign ideas), he's quick to just use text-to-speech. If you see Aran writing, he's probably ferociously erasing/hitting the backspace key. It's best if you just steer clear and wait out the storm. He's usually pretty irritable after working on homework (which is rare).
๐๐ธ๐ผ๐ฝ-๐๐ป๐ช๐ญ๐พ๐ช๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ธ๐ท ๐๐ต๐ช๐ท๐ผ โก
With a possible internship in the works already, Aran hopes to work in advertising. He doesn't really want to become a partner or anything like that. Just make enough money to put in his 401k and come home at the end of the day with more money than he began with. Maybe, if he ever gets around to it, he'll move away from San Diego and live somewhere new, but, considering his parents and siblings, he doubts that'll be possible.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
{ to be added to! } Aran suffers from classic middle child syndrome, and as a result, he often craves being the leader. Otherwise, he feels a bit lost in his role. However, this go-getter attitude also makes him the glue holding the friend group together. Aran is astounding at planning events and bringing everyone closer. He is always ready to put on a show, which is why it is a shame he was never good enough for school plays and musicals. Always the lowest-level tech assistant, never even a supporting character . . . But that is all behind him now. He has turned expectations around by being a masterful DM. The silly voices, the elaborate puzzles, the tricky plot twists โ it's all there.
There are just a few small problems. Aran is from a very relaxed, happy suburbia life. His parents, Moon and Kasem Ahmadov, work respectable, middle-class jobs. His siblings, Akara and Venus, have never gone off the deep end. His family doesn't even have a black sheep. Unless . . . he's the black sheep? As the only one to attend SDSU, Aran is the king of subverting his straight-laced parents' expectations. Akara, his older brother, is currently a first-year grad student at Harvard Law. Venus, whose name comes from the insistence of Aran's grandmother prior to her passing, is on the road to being a world-class pianist. As the only one predicted to have a sub-par career, Aran knows he's the odd thumb of the family. No one will acknowledge it, but he senses it's on everyone's minds, despite only communicating with his family via FaceTime and their group chat.
As a teen, Aran always struggled to be seen. Even amongst his siblings, he felt ignored by them. Since there are a few years between him and Venus, they never really communicated about anything important. He was overly protective of her, as he is with all people, but she never understood his nerdy interests, only entertaining them when she had nothing else to do. Closer with his brother, Aran and Akara were troublemakers as children. They enjoyed playing harmless pranks on their schoolmates, parents, and especially their baby sister. However, as the two got older, they began to grow apart. Akara, despite having lackluster grades compared to Aran, was the star of the family, the prize. He was student body president all four years of high school, and he won several orator scholarships, leaving more than enough money to pay for Aran and Venus' college diplomas. Like Aran, Akara is also a problem-solver. The only problem is this has always outshone Aran and what he views as his most valuable asset: his ability to orchestrate everything. Even though he was valedictorian, his parents only gave him a pat on the back.
Despite all this, he was close to his parents at one point. Before Venus was born, he was a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed kid, and his parents were always entertained by his antics, even when they got him in trouble. They used to stand by Aran and defend him against principles, critical relatives, and his own brother. "He's too sensitive... to nosey!" was a common complaint, but Kasem encouraged his youngest son to ignore them. "Most people just don't like that you know your ass from your mouth," he would tell Aran. His mother always encouraged him to be the person he is today, although perhaps a little less bigmouthed, saying, "Most people don't care... you do. Don't change that." All of this changed after the '08 crash and the family gained a member, only to lose a whole college fund's worth of money. Now, Aran is expected to find a money-making job to make all the stress of working extra hours (even with Akara paying largely his own way) so he could go to school. It was in high school that Aran faded into the background of his family, and he wasn't heard much any longer. All he got was criticism, the type his parents used to defend him against.
As his only champion, his grandmother hosted Aran on days where he couldn't stand his parents fawning over Akara and Venus whilst no one talked about his working-a-job-and-getting-all-A's-feat. She picked up the torch his parents dropped, but she added her own twist. Encouraging him to abandon all hopes of impressing others into loving them, his grandma left an imprint on Aran forever. He'll often think of her when he lies to his parents over FaceTime, telling them he's happy and "staying out of trouble." His grandma always lived her life truthfully, even when it pissed off his mother or their extended family. As the only one who still embraces counter-culture, she is the spark that has led Aran to this double-life he now lives, where he doesn't know if he's a geek still or if he's a party animal, pot-dealer-turned-filmmaker.
Because of this, as one might imagine, losing his grandmother during freshman year hit Aran hard. However, it inspired him to live a fuller life. Knowing his grandmother would hate him mourning her or living a false life, he settled for an in-between. He won't ever be honest with his family about what he wants to be, hence he keeps his distance, but he can at least pretend to be true to himself. Following in his grandma's bare-foot, toe-ring studded footprints, Aran started his own cannabis business, or, as the layman would call it, he's a weed dealer. Growing it in the closet of his apartment, he's made the majority of his friends this past year through attending various ragers. In fact, he's only barely managed to scrape by this semester because of trades of weed for free tutoring or straight-up cheating. He's made a decent amount of money from his business, and he's excited to use the money to backpack around Italy... if he ever gets the gumption to tell his parents this plan.
However, this plan might be put off for a few years. Currently considering changing his major, Aran also needs to admit to his parents that he hates advertising, the only major his parents and he could agree on at the beginning of junior year. He aspires to become a filmmaker, and he already has made a few short films from his minor in the subject. Inspired by his role as DM, he knows he has the creativity and drive to become the next Stanley Kubrick and challenge the constraints of film. Although Moon and Kasem would disapprove, in fact, they might ostracize him altogether, Aran has to believe that they'd want what's best for him... right?
More than anything, Aran is terrified of being average. Not special. Mundane. It can make him quite desperate for attention, even putting the needs of others above his just to make sure nobody leaves them behind. But that all pales in comparison to the chronic liar he's become. He doesn't want to be the boy next door. He wants to come from somewhere exciting. Aran wants to be someone exciting. So far, he has been able to juggle the facade perfectly, but these days, he's lying to themselves more than anyone else. How long can Aran keep that act up, especially now that he has a taste of real power?

Given that Aran's character, Naeydark, is having his own mental crisis, obviously my child is going to change mentally. I also think that Naeydark's ability to create his own path will cause a lot of interesting choices to be made by Aran, concerning his major, his family, and his deceptiveness. It makes so much sense for him to change much physically since the whole Kalashtar thing will be kind of confusing.

Naeydark is true middle ground after being affected by his new body, a kalashtar named Kedo. Naeydark didn't know that Kedo was infected (as N. would put it) until after his soul was implanted, so he's all of a sudden feeling much more conflicted than usual. Or, perhaps, he always felt weird about his sister, despite understanding her drive for power?
Originally boisterous and grumpy, Naeydark is becoming more and more polite. No, that isn't the right word to describe his new mood. He's empathetic. He looks at others with more understanding of pain since he's very aware of his quori's escape from Dal Quor. Naeydark can't see the world the same, and he actually looks at people. Before, he was so self-centered he couldn't see past his own nose without thinking about how clever, how cool and slighted he was. With this newfound empathy, he's grown more compassionate and slightly insecure. He's actually aware of his surroundings and their reactions to him as opposed to himself and his reactions to others. He's able to see how much of an annoying, moody know-it-all he can be.
One thing that has stayed with Naeydark is his cleverness and leadership qualities. As right-hand to his sister, he is capable of calming a room with a cool, charming remark. Due to his sister's intimidating personality, Naeydark has always been the more approachable sibling. With the Kalashtar body he's been placed in, he's slightly less approachable, at least based off his demeanor (he's not exactly happy with Petra over this one. Plus, Kalashtars are supposed to be slightly aloof and off. Not one of the things Naeydark loves about them, given his love for quick quips and sharing a beer with a stranger). Additionally, Naeydark spends a lot of time thinking now that he's sensing the quori within him. He's constantly battling with impulsive thoughts that aren't his own, leading him to control his own mind in an effort to remain sane. Hence, he's gotten a little lazy with conversing with people, choosing to listen to his own thoughts.
Naeydark is a mastermind thief. He's intelligent, like his sister, but he's much timider. Unlike Petra, he's been afraid to take what he wants. He lies in wait for the perfect opportunity, but it never comes. Perhaps it will never come.
Always able to see the clearest path to what he wants, Naeydark keeps a clear head at all times. Slow to rage, one will never know that Naeydark wants to kill them until he's already done it (Even though he's especially slow to do it now). He's skillful at crafting intricate plans, especially expansive robberies. Slow and methodical, Naeydark has a certain amount of patience that others lack, at least fellow criminals. This is further heightened by his new body.
As a child, Naeydark had a similar amount of confidence and cleverness. He was able to convince the Elven children he played with to assist him in stealing crafts made by the surprisingly grumpy elf in their little village (which, by the way, they only got caught because some twerp ratted them out). Unappreciative of negative people, young Naeydark was an inspiring figure to those who liked the spurred-upon half-Elf child. Always the explorer, he would often wander outside of the village, unattended, only to figure his way back by the sun and stars.
Growing up, Naeydark became lonely, and his personality darkened. He realized that only his sister appreciated his antics, and, even then, he began to notice their tsk tsks at his clever tricks. His formerly bubbly self dissipated. Forced into a world where people wanted to silence him, Naeydark felt scorned and his persona turned sour, resulting in the conniving person he is today.

Constantly being ignored as a child (or worse, insulted and abused), he learned to command attention, good or bad. Petra, always the better sibling, the prettier one, the more gifted, overshadowed him. In fact, he faded into the background of his entire family and community. Eventually, he stopped being the free, gap-toothed kid and started to demand people's looks, despite being glares and snickers. He started stealing and playing pranks. In adulthood, he's simply just a risk-taker and says off-color things to strangers. At least with maturity, Naeydark appreciates being somewhat inconspicuous.
As gifted as Naeydark is with thievery or crime, he has a tendency to get in over his head. He needs to impress people, and he feels he's infallible. Quite ironic, considering he knows how quickly people fail, but still. The sun will fall onto the planet before Naeydark can be responsible for something going south. Even when he's wrong, Naeydark can't admit it.
With his new life as Kedo, he's growing more unstable. Naeydark can't keep himself in one mood for longer than a day. Sometimes, he'll just feel upset about something he can't even put his finger on, and if he acts out, it's incredibly hard to explain his behavior. Other days, he's just frustrated with the body he's in, what he's beginning to realize, and what Petra's sent him to do.
Naeydark is incredibly guarded. He keeps his plans to himself since he's constantly aware of the fallibility of his power. In a minute, people can turn against him, so Naeydark rids himself of any threat, if it ever was one, before it can become one, often distancing himself. Although he gives enough to keep people interested in his ideas, he keeps to himself and controls everything from behind the scenes. This results in a lot of Ocean's 11-type robberies. This can often turn people off, especially those who he's supposed to guide. Kedo was known to be slightly more open and less moody. Unfortunately, Naeydark is really only just now realizing these faults. They'd never occurred to him before.

Like his sister, Naeydark was raised to praise Pelor. Unlike Petra, although he separated himself from the god, he still worships. Conflicted for years, he praises Olidammara, the god of rogues, humor, tricks, and wine whilst still thinking of Pelor. He can't disconnect himself from his childhood completely.

Although connected to both humans and Elves, Naeydark is considered a lone wolf. He wouldn't save either race if they were being robbed or under a threat of violence. However, he gets along with most other races easily. Looking out for himself, he isn't loyal to anyone, but he isn't as steadfast against some races over others. {new stuff} Although his sister is controlling, he is still steadfast to her. Still, he's also sensing a shift within his loyalties with everyone, given his new body. He's becoming much more willing to save a stranger, but he's still willing to rob them if the opportunity suits him. Given his history with kalashtars however, his loyalties do lie somewhat with them too.

{totally being changed upon further plotting & brainstorming; some of this still requires affirmation on Manda's end, at least concerning the parts including Petra!} Starting out seemingly well-liked by his Elven childhood friends, that all changed as they grew older. Whilst Naeydark was going through humanoid adolescence, his friends were still growing, only babies in the eyes of their village. Elves grew tired of the little half-Elf who enjoyed stirring up trouble with his little tricks. His parents also began to disapprove of him. They began to shush his antics and encourage him to lay low and remain at home where no one would be bothered by him. His sister, Petra, bonded with him over their parents' and community's neglect and distaste for them. Naeydark believed in Petra, in her ideas, dreams, and goals. He knew that if anyone could succeed, she could. Lonely and restless, Naeydark chose to emancipate himself with her.
He became a wanderer, though he ached to have a place to call home. Missing his parents, despite their faults, and once close friends, it was easy to grow bitter towards the world. After he and Petra continued to thieve, moving from town to town with little improvement, he began to detest the meaningless life of poverty they were living. He started to lose faith in Petra, and he decided to go on his own for a while, try out a different life. He became a ranger for a few years. His one moment of youthful pride is during his brief time with Tash, a Kalashtar. Quiet, compassionate, and kind, Tash inspired Naeydark to return to his childhood joyfulness. This lasted for a brief time until Tash passed from his injuries during one of Brevania's many wars. Taking to the road, he refused to move past the anger stage of his grief.
Naeydark was known to be a bit curious and troublesome in his travels. He became a nomad who appreciated leaving his mark from town to town with a harmless prank. He returned to his lonely life, existing purely on his need to explore and see the world. He continued to feel belittled, ignored, and even hated, like he did as a teen, and, like a self-fulfilling prophecy, his attitude only worsened, and altruistic people began to tolerate him less and less with his turbulent and darkening personality. Tash's death continued to weigh on him, yet he couldn't focus on the light he brought to his life. Naeydark only saw what was taken from him, taken from Tash, and he grew to hate the powerless feeling Brevania pushed upon him. Eventually, he found his niche. He frequented inns only the most derelict criminals inhabit and became advanced at planning kidnaps and robberies, channeling his youthful talent for trickery into crime. He grew to have his own set of followers, criminals he eventually brought to Petra for her own use.
It was pure chance that he found Petra again. Wandering through another town, he found her in a pub. She was different, though. She hummed with power, like the necklace thrown around her neck. It, too, looked off and brighter. Naeydark was used to the necklace, considering she'd been wearing it forever. She had a plan, like a Naeydark-branded type of plan, but it came from her. This caused jealousy to arise, given that she came across the necklace by pure chance, stealing it quickly off of a random stranger. Petra was the Lady of Shadows, and she was going to change the world without it even knowing. He just wishes he'd thought of it first. Now, he only hopes to pick up a little taste of the power Petra has, thus his seemingly steadfast loyalty, despite his jealousy.

โก Standing at 6'2'', Naeydark enjoys the large difference between his original body, which stood at 5'3'' and most of his other bodies (which stood at about 5'7''. He knows. He measured himself every. time. He really has little man syndrome lowkey). He towers over humans and those smaller than them, and it gives him a small sense of power, despite being under his sister.
โก With long, black hair that flows with slight waves to his waist, Naeydark prefers to wear Kedo's hair in two tight braids, tied off with leather straps. He finds it comforting to rebraid them every morning. Sometimes, he can be seen playing with the ends, sticking them up his nose or brushing his cheeks to entertain himself.
โก Carrying around a batch of small daggers, Naeydark prefers long boots that are made of soft leather. He likes the ease of access to his knife. He also wears breathy, flowy clothing with tailored, flourishing coats that have several interior pockets for the rest of his daggers. Always prepared, he also stores a bunch of survival gear in his pocket-lined jacket, such as a compass or a batch of rope

I'm feeling like maybe his model is going to change to Willie Cartier at the moment. I feel like Liam Samuels gives a whole other vibe, plus Cartier has some really good pictures that'll fit with the adventurer aesthetic! And that hair... bro I can't...

{okay so I was thinking that maybe this could fit into how Petra and he get along. They're both thieves, but maybe he did a lot of the planning while Petra was more impulsive, taking whatever she could easily steal. Maybe there'd be some sibling rivalry to play with (beyond the obvious) because she found the necklace by sleight-of-hand thievery while he takes the time to carefully plan things out. Might make a nice comparison/tension to work with throughout the story. Like, which will prevail: planning or seizing of opportunities}
5. This isn't so much a full point but just an idea. I want to just add a whole ~other~ layer to the fact that Aran is going to become Naeydark and also have N. go through an identity crisis. Because he didn't expect this whole ~living inside the body of a kalashtar~ thing, he's changing in ways he didn't expect (alot of what is mentioned above, but I'm going to develop it more). He's also questioning his loyalties and his faith given this body he's in. This would play into his role as the guide where he might actually give "good" advice because he doesn't want people to suffer, die, etc. instead of Petra's "advice." This could play into the real world translation really interestingly since it could cause problems within the friendship of Achara and Aran (which still needs to be plotted out obviously, but still. I'm assuming if they're both DM then they're probably friendly/maybe even close given they were written from the same base)
