Intelligent, personable, and friendly, Estrella can make friends for days. Getting along with almost anyone, she's a chameleon- changing her personality from one person or group to the next. Although she loves easily, she's quick to change those feelings if the opportunity (or fear of abandonment) suites her. Desperate for normalcy, she can be found amongst the outskirts of the it-crowd, searching for her own place. She hides her non-normal life with an attempted all-American high school experience that is constantly interrupted with her witchy life. Although it can be overwhelming: dealing with her grades so she can get away from Avon and go to the University of San Francisco, maintaining her non social life along with her coven one, and keeping in touch with people she cares about, Estrella's smart enough to handle it... right?๐๐พ๐๐๐๐๐ ยท
Because she's eager to please, Estrella is a kind person. She won't purposefully hurt others- ever. She prides herself on this trait and improves on it daily, doing good deeds with her magic. Heal a tree, grow a bouquet of flowers for a down friend, brew a cup of calming herbal tea for her over-worked non teacher, etc. Estrella wants to do good, despite her mixed allegiances. She wants people to like her.Never seeking an argument (in fact, she'll cower before she'll get into one), Estrella still knows how to debate with the best of them. She's a fantastic orator, but she knows when to listen. Supportive, she doles out wisdom that, nine times out of ten, does some good. Estrella, although unable to work through her own grief concerning her sister's death, is the exact type of person you can work through problems with. In fact, she's the person who fixes problems for people, though this gets her in trouble sometimes.
๐๐พ๐ธ๐๐ ยท
Estrella can't make a decision to save her life. She's desperate to please others, so she's unable to just choose. Asking her to pick sides would, literally, break her in two. Because of this, she's easy to manipulate into what someone wants. She has zero backbone, except in rare cases where she's been taken advantage of one too many times. She has a keen sense of justice, she'll have you know! Once a person has crossed her, Estrella has a tendency to go overboard with revenge. In fact, she finds the feeling addictive- as though she's righting a deep wrong through an evil hex. Justice, in whatever manner, means a lot to her. Given her sister's uncontrollable and, according to her, unjustified way of dying, Estrella is quick to hand out what she believes is the necessary punishment, whether it be a prickly bouquet of roses, a blanket of itchy ivy she casts around you in the dead of night, or a simply a status-damaging scene in the school hallway. Vengeance is, in Estrella's eyes, a means to an end in the quest for the ultimate balance in the world. Although not religious, she definitely believes in karma, and boy will she dole out justice at its finest! In addition to being vengeful, Estrella will easily change her allegiances. She's only ever stuck to the one group of close friends, chopping her attachment up to childhood memories and a weird sense of loyalty. Outside of the girls, Estrella will cut someone loose if it means moving up on the social chain of high school or feeling more normal. It isn't personal, she's just looking out for herself. Nowadays, she keeps everyone at a distance, even though she'll come across as the friendliest person you've ever met. Estrella can't seem to let that wall down anymore like she used to be able to so easily. She still can't figure out if it's because of Ambra or just being a self-conscious teenager who's also got magical powers coursing through her along with hormones.

๐๐ ๐๐ธ๐พ๐ถ๐๐๐ ยท Working with the earth has always drawn in Estrella. She'll wander into the coven den gardens, wanting to be near the greenery. Estrella can easily grow plants, heal them, and physically change them (i.e. if she wants a white rose, she can make one from the red ones she has). Potions are also another specialty. Growing herbs and flowers instantly, she finds the process of brewing and sweating over a cauldron for hours comforting. If she enjoys any part of her specialty, it's her ability to grow, to create.
However, controlling the earth isn't always so peaceful. When need-be, Estrella can create expansive and elaborate arrays of deadly plants. She finds it simple to form traps made of poison ivy, nippy Venus fly traps, and roses' thorny stems. She doesn't like this part of herself; it is the most ~witchy~ she feels, outside of when she's at the coven instead of at a normal, high school party or even just the school play. Despite learning this skill when she and Ambra use to mess around with their magic, it's rare that Estrella ever practices this... or uses it when needed.
๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐ธ๐ถ๐ ๐๐พ๐ธ๐๐ ยท
She avoids using magic in public at all costs, but Estrella will still find herself randomly surrounded by flowers during moments where she is overly emotional, especially if she's anxious. There hasn't been a single test since the beginning of high school where a flower or leaf hasn't appeared on her shoulder or twined around her chair. When she cries, which happens rarely, she'll find the calming scent of lily of the valley next to her, reminding her of her sister. Greenery has always found its way around her at inopportune moments.๐ป๐ถ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐ถ๐ ยท
Estrella's pet rat, Herb, is her familiar. White with a single black spot over his left eye, his black eyes are capturing and all-knowing. Having him since she was six, Herb has lived far longer than necessary, and he shows no stops of slowing down, given his constant escapes.๐ธ๐๐๐๐๐ ยท
Ever the adventurer, Ambra took Estrella cliff-diving when she was twelve (Ambra, seventeen) whilst they were in California. In times where Estrella's magic gets ahead of her, she recalls the moment before she jumped, her hand in her sister's. Matching painted-pink nails, fingertips, and soft skin. They breathed at the same time with the same heart-beat. Ambra was already diagnosed, but she insisted upon this trip (using her Make-A-Wish to do it, though they didn't know about the death-defying jump). The two stood, leaning over the ocean, for a solid thirty seconds, just breathing together. Then, they jumped, screaming, and holding hands the entire way down.๐ถ๐๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ยท
Because Estrella is indecisive as hell, she refuses to decide on what type of magic she wants. She feels herself leaning towards the light, but what if there's more to be gained by the dark? What if there's a part of her that wants to be malicious? What if she'll feel closer to Ambra, even if it's not the same thing? If she could, she'd sample both sides, but alas, magic isn't a stand at Costco.๐ ๐๐พ๐๐๐น ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐พ๐๐ ยท
Her cameo pin, given to her by her sister, has been in her family for generations. Pink with an enchanting profile of a woman, it's been bewitched with a spell for goodwill and a happy future. Estrella thinks this is a bunch of bull, considering what happened to Amber, but she wears it for the memories and to appease her mother. She can be found pinning it to a ribbon and wearing it as a choker, bracelet, headband and, occasionally, she'll actually pin it to her shirt.๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐ธ๐ถ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ป๐๐๐๐๐ธ๐ ยท
Although Estrella stays away from magic, she appreciates brewing more than anything. Learning a new potion is like learning a new recipe. Cooking is one of her favorite hobbies, so it makes perfect sense that she enjoys utilizing the cauldron. Still, she appreciates working with the other people who have a similar specialty. She'd rather be at a normal get-together, but she'll settle for quality time with fellow witches and warlocks who ~get it~.๐ธ๐๐๐ท๐ถ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ป๐๐๐๐๐ธ๐ ยท
Given that Estrella's specialty is manipulating the earth and her aversion to magic, she chooses hand-to-hand over any other fighting style. When she's pushed, she can quickly summon an array of non-existent deadly plants or formulate the perfect trap made from quickly woven vines. She's not good at any of this (due to a purposeful lack of practice), but when in a high-strung situation, she can be encapsulating to watch. Estrella just hopes nothing ever comes to that. -

Leola (๐๐๐๐ฝ๐๐, 47)
FC: Charlize Theron (tentatively)As the magical parent, Leola has always encouraged her daughters' magic. As an earthly witch, she and Estrella spent a lot of time in her early teenage-dom crafting potions and brews together. Nowadays, they don't really have a lot in common since Estrella has chosen to close herself off from magic unless she's by herself or with her specialty group. Leola and Estrella can be seen fighting often over this separation between the two of them, especially because it's over magic. Having little ability to use her specialty, Leola sees her daughter wasting her potential, and it angers her. Why can't Estrella be a little more appreciative of the gifts she's been given?
Since the death of her and Julius' first-born, Ambra, Leola's magic has died down a bit. She isn't as strong as she used to be. In fact, she isn't as vibrant at all. This helped contribute to Estrella's distaste for the weirdness that comes with magic. She saw how her mother's love and dependency on it caused her to become a shell of the person she used to be. However, even with less magic, Leola is still heavily involved with the coven. She loves to help organize events and get-togethers, taking on a social role. Leola can often be found organizing the next coven meeting or, because of their bi-monthly appearance, she's also organizing the next benefit in Ambra's name.
Julius (๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฝ๐๐, 52)
FC: Brad Pitt (tentatively)Working a steady job as a consult for NASA, Julius was the stay-at-home dad since his work largely relied on conference calls and, with the advent of tech, Skype. Designing programs to devise exact data for space launches, giving advice to NASA's newest programmers, and even stopping by via plane from time to time to assist in emergency troubleshooting. Julius has always loved his job, even when he realized his wife's magical abilities. He sees things clearly, and he's able to see that his job, though without the perks of spells and hexes, is what he is meant to be in the same sense that Leola and his daughters are meant to be powerful and powered by the Moon.
Growing up, Julius was always the independent one. This follows him into adulthood, and his parenting style, though loving and chopped full of memories, encourages his daughters' independence. While Leola fretted over their children, Julius would simply sit back and watch them, stepping in only when a light stock was to be touched or a cracked skull eminent. This resulted in plenty of fights between the two, but they remained fully in love, even when their oldest passed from leukemia.
Ambra (๐๐พ๐๐๐๐, 20, deceased)
FC: Susanne KnipperA confident, a friend, a sister. Ambra was the glue that kept Estrella even remotely interested in their powers. In fact, with Ambra around, Estrella would be fascinated by their abilities, testing them on each other. As a dark witch, Ambra has always been the troublemaker. Their antics only made them closer, despite the five years or so {subject to change upon ages being decided} between them. As she grew older, Estrella was running the race right along with her. They'd learn from each other, hence why Estrella can't decide between the light or the dark. She knows a decent amount of hexes and she wants to feel closer to Ambra, but she knows that Ambra would want Estrella to find her own path, like she did.
Living her life breath-takingly full, the entire Delacroixes were surprised when the stronger one of the two became sick. Especially by something as earthly as cancer. Ambra spent a large portion of Estrella's tween-hood in and out of the hospital. Estrella saw the toll it took on her mother, father, the group, the coven, and herself. Estrella, being with Ambra when she passed the summer before high school, recalls the intimate details of her beloved sister's death: something not many can say they've gone through at {insert age}. It's alienating, but Estrella, refusing to let it define her, decided that high school would be the age of normality.

James Talbot (๐๐๐๐-๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, 18)
FC: Younรฉs KahlaouiAs a chaos warlock, James is terrified of being normal. In fact, he goes out of his way to not be. Showing up to coven meetings with a different witch/wizard-themed hat or "wand" that he treats as an actual magical device, playing pranks on his peers or fellow magical people, or even just diatribing about the benefits of communism on dogs (which, yes, is an actual presentation he has given in class). There's a lot of Aries energy emanating from James, and sometimes this can be too much. People have a tendency to avoid getting close to him, sensing that his chaotic magic (or, if they're a non, personality) will just explode all over them.
However, he's a lovable guy. Kind, charismatic, and passionate. He's actually fun to be around, even when he takes things over-board. James wants to make sure everyone else is having a good time and so is he. Everyone loves James!
Well, except, the few that find his positivity annoying... like Estrella. Although there's nothing wrong with him outside of coven meetings, she can't stand the way he doesn't care about what sets him apart or all of them apart. He treats the meetings like they're social events, parties. Not that this isn't inviting, but he still embraces the idea of magic. Even when they run into eachother at non parties, he's still using magic to play tricks, to heighten up the fun in a false way. In a magical way. Estrella simply can't stand him.
Lily Church (๐๐๐-๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐ธ ๐ป๐๐พ๐๐๐น, 16)
FC: Han Eu DdeumOne of the first non girls Estrella met upon entering high school, Lily is incredibly sweet, like Estrella, but without the darker undertones. Fiercely loyal and heartfelt, Lily has a high-pitched voice akin to Luna Lovegood's. She isn't afraid to cut you if you betray her, but she's just as quick to forgive as she is to rise to anger. She's the type of person people just trust with things, even if they don't know her that well.
Maev Holyfield (๐๐๐-๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐ธ ๐ป๐๐พ๐๐๐น, 17)
FC: Melina MartinIf Maev was a witch, she'd be the Darkest one of them all. A bad influence, she's the one who gets Estrella invited to all the non parties (outside of maybe Carson's popularity helping her score an invite too). There's not a lot to say about Maev: she's hard-edged but easy to love. However, she's a fluttery friend, drifting from one group to the next. Although she's super friendly, Maev has a tendency to forget about you until you're in her face.
Carson Hadley (๐ท๐๐๐ป๐๐พ๐๐๐น, 17)
FC: Frederik WestenAs the stereotype precedes him, Carson is a popular, pompous jock. Well, that isn't to say that he doesn't have some endearing qualities. He can be quite romantic... when you put out. Still, he's a goofy guy, though a bit shallow and sexist, that's good for a laugh when you're sad. Although they identify as boyfriend and girlfriend, Estrella and Carson really only kiss in public. Having only gone on a date or two, they rarely spend time outside of social situations together. They used to try, but with coven meetings and basketball (or was it football? Estrella can never remember. She never goes to his games anyway) practices, they stopped bringing up the subject. Hell, they both agreed to "an open relationship," but each time a guy has asked Estrella out, they cancel after one conversation with Carson.
๐ท๐พ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ ๐ฝ๐ ยท
Growing up, Estrella had a normal family. Knowing about her magic from a young age, Ambra, her and their mother bonded easily over potions, spells, and wondering what the girls' specialties would be. Following in her mother's footsteps, Estrella discovered her talent for earthy things, whilst Ambra, five years or so older than her, discovered earlier that she was drawn to the darker side of things. This, all things considered, made sense. Fiercely independent like their father, Ambra was always the leader of the two. Estrella followed and conformed herself around those she was with, especially with Ambra. The two girls grew together like trees, with roots bound together. When Ambra died of leukemia, those roots were untwisted all at once. Estrella still refuses to acknowledge that it happened, but she's struck by odd moments of grief that can make her snap at people, especially in the coven. Although Ambra died of something so incredibly human, Estrella blames magic for it, though inexplicably. Disbelieving in God or any other religious figures from a young age, Estrella looked to the only mystical thing for blame: the sparkles that live under their skins, a constant reminder that the thing Ambra and her shared most is no longer shared by anyone except a ghost. Estrella still lives with constant memories of Ambra, and she refuses to get rid of her sister's things, and since they shared a room together, her sympathetic parents don't argue. The entire Delacroix family pretends a ghost still exists, or, on other days, they pretend she doesn't exist at all. Meanwhile, Estrella feels more and more forgotten and lost.
๐๐พ๐๐๐ ๐ท๐พ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ ๐ฝ๐ ยท
For once, Estrella just wishes she could stay at Avon High School for a week. Just one week. Just one week to see what life would be like without the twinkling crystals beneath her skin. She wants to go to a party on Friday night without the trail of her friends in the coven chuckling when they enchant a flower pot to โmix things up.โ She always ends up sneaking beside it, whispering an enchantment, calming the power. She prefers to spend her time in the gardens surrounding the coven den, just far enough to pretend it doesnโt exist. She has a way with the greenery, it envelopes her, she embodies it. Despite the hints that this is her special talent is witchery, Estrella wants to pretend sheโs a normal girl for as long as she can, just for the little bit until the magic takes over.
