apathy, if you're not passionate about anything are you really living; cats, he's allergic to them and it's just led to a general dislike all around

biography

Aiden grew up in what was essentially farm country Michigan. He had a relatively normal, boring childhood. His parents were great and loved him and his little brother, Eric, so much. He was an inquisitive kid growing up, his mom always joked that his favorite word was 'why'. He was never someone who wanted to be the center of attention. He slid by in school relatively unnoticed, just as he liked it. That was until his sophomore year of high school. His mom died in a car crash coming back from a college football game in Ann Arbor with his little brother. Some asshole had decided to drive back drunk after an entire day of tailgating and changed the rest of Aiden's life. For the rest of his high school career, he and his brother were the kids with a dead mom. The family made it work though. This isn't the sob story where after losing one parent he ended up losing both.

Luckily, Aiden managed to get into college, maybe not his dream school but he did get a full ride (probably the only perk of having a dead mom). He barely told anyone about what happened to his mom unless they deliberately asked, he didn't want to be the kid with a dead mom for the rest of his life. He always knew that he wanted to study journalism and his dream job was being an investigative reporter. He was able to finish school a year early and decided on his big move to New York. His brother resented him for leaving him in their hometown with only his dad, but Aiden knew if he didn't leave now he never would.

He moved into a shitty apartment in Manhattan with a friend of a friend from college. Zach was kind of a creepy guy but at least it was a place to live while he tried to make it work in the city. Soon after he got the job at Foster's he met Alena and so began the saga of their incredibly shitty relationship.

ERIC COLLINGSWORTH , 20
Aiden's younger brother, the one who watched their mom die when he was 13 years old. Their relationship after that was always a little rocky. Eric became a bit more of a shut-in after and never wanted to talk about what happened that day. He resents Aiden's decision to move to New York right after college and felt like he was stuck in their hometown with no one to rely on.

ALENA WALLACE , 23
Aiden's on and off girlfriend of two years. They met when Aiden first moved to New York and started working at Fosters Coffee cause she came in every day and he finally decided to ask her out one day. She doesn't actually have a job but claims to be an influencer. Her life is really funded by her parents. Their relationship is not healthy at all and anytime that they're back together for longer than two weeks, which is rare, she finds some stupid thing to scream at him about then leaves to go hook up with some other guy.

ZACH SHONER , 26
Aiden's roommate in New York, also known as Boner by his close friends. He doesn't seem to actually have a real job but he somehow is able to make rent every month. Not sure if his family is secretly rich or if he sells organs on the black market. Super weird dude in general but as long as Aiden has a place to stay, he's not asking any questions.

RORY SOMMERS , 23
This is the girl Aiden should really be in love with. She moved to New York right out of college after living her entire life in the suburbs of Chicago. She's the least self-involved person you could meet but also could not care less about what other people think of her. Between Cade, Aiden, and herself, she's the only one who has a "real job", but she really doesn't think being an executive assistant is her calling.

Cade was Aiden's first real friend in New York. They worked together at Foster's for the first two months he was there before Cade dramatically quit after getting the callback of a lifetime. He still barely works as an actor but decided that he was better than working as a barista. So now he's a bartender.
