Highlights from London Fashion Week

  • London Fashion Week has just ended and, while fashion reporters and influencers from all over the world are flying to Milan, we can’t wait to show you the best looks on the British runway. Are you ready for some London highlights?

    Burberry

Entitled #Evolution, Burberry’s collection was not only amazing, but even carbon-free. The green choice of the brand is translated in a timeless style made of neutral colors (black, white, grey and camel) and staples pieces, such as tailored pants, blazers, suits, shiny shirts, trenches, vintage mid-length skirts. A sophisticated and neutral collection that is enlightened by precious details, like fringed black skirts, touches of gingham and checkered patterns, colorful silk scarves, lace mini dresses.

Our favourite look: a grey logline blazer worn with a matchy mini skirt with a long tail, a high-neck cut-our embellished blouse and grey sandals.

    Victoria Beckham

Another game of classic, sophisticated shapes and neutral colors, but with more color accents, is the one played by Victoria Beckham. The designer revisited the suit trend by making blazer and pants in slightly different shades, or pairing plain tailored pants with patterned blazers. The light, mid-length dresses have deep V-necks,cut-outs or ruffled details. Patterns are graphics. And the palette of camel, beige, white, black and burgundy colors is enlightened by emerald green, mint, purple and hot pink details.

Our favourite look: it was hard to choose: they are all so great! But in the end, we choose the navy co-ord made of cut-out sweater, longline cardigan and 7/8 skirt, all with beige, yellow and red striped details, worn with red sandals.

    Emilia Wickstead

Pastels, volumes and color-blocks are the words that better describe Emilia Wickstead collection - one of the most beautiful in London. Structured balloon skirts, drama sleeves, cut-out tops are the elements around which the hyper-feminine looks are built. Then, the colors: pastel yellow, pink, lilac and blue are paired with saturated orange, yellow, red and with touches of black and white in clean color-blocks. The only patterns used are gingham and a modern floral, but there are plenty of textured fabrics that make the monochromatic looks modern and interesting.

Our favourite look: the modern lbd, belted and with a deep cut-out, paired with laced-up shoes, a big, black hat and extra-long yellow gloves.

    Roksanda

Talking about pastels and volumes, we have to say a few words about Roksanda. The architectural style of the brand is confirmed in this spring/summer collection as well: the Runway was full of structured sleeves and shoulder details. Then, long dresses, slouchy boots, crispy fabrics and lots of color (red, orange, coral, champagne, grey, yellow, taupe) made the rest.

Our favourite look: a lilac tunic shirt worn over camel pants, paired with lilac, white and pastel yellow striped cape and a yellow box bag.

    House of Holland

House of Holland played with a very young style. No classic and vintage vibes for this brand: its runway was all about trainers, neons, sportswear, mixed with some casual-chic staples (blazer, boiler suit, polo dress). The main colors (together with neon orange and pink) were emerald green, pink, purple, black and white.

Our favourite look: a green bustier cut-our mini dress worn over a striped polo, with flat sandals and striped sunglasses.

    Molly Goddard

A contemporary mix of delicateness and street style: Molly Goddard collection is a perfectly balanced match of pastel rule skirts and colourful leather boots, of light floral dresses and red lips, of delicate bows and mesh tops.

Our favourite look: the last one: a pink and red dress with ruffles and volume around the waist, worn with red leather boots and dark lipstick.

    Richard Queen

Isn’t this the most beautiful show of London Fashion Week? Classic floral print and vintage pieces meet incredible volumes on skirts, sleeves, shoulders. The key element of the runway were tights: in matchy prints or contrasting colors, made with black patent leather or matte and white, with textured striped or the classic mini polka dots, often worn with sandals.

Our favourite look: oh, it’s so hard to choose. What about the gown with a watercolor roses print in pink and green, worn with a white furry coat and tulle embellished sandals?

    Ports 1961

One of the most beautiful runways of this fashion week. Ports 1961 mixed classic and modern, elegance and fun. After some super-saturated pop printed dresses and revisited classics (as a camel trench with a red checked side), the runway becomes more classic: floral skirts, dusty rose blouses, sugar paper jumpsuits, black and white stripes. But always with a twist, like a skirt worn over soft pants, a pair of net gloves, a shiny fabric.

Our favourite look: was hard to choose again. But in the end, we were conquered by the dark rust pyjama-like jumpsuit with splitted pants, worn with a red net top underneath and a colourful chain necklace.

    Erdem

Colors and femininity: Erdem signature style goes back on time. His paisley-style collection brings us directly in Nineteenth-Century America with its ankle skirts, wrapped jackets, pussy bows and big hats. All with the designer’s typical, powerful use of colors and prints: we see florals, stripes, geometrical patterns and laces in beautiful and saturated teal, blue, yellow, coral red, hot pink, with accents of orange and green.

Our favourite look: a ruffled white dress with a black and yellow graphic floral print and drama sleeves, worn with black platform sandals, a black pussy bow, a big black straw hat and elbow-long gloves.

    Simone Rocha

After all of these colors, let’s go back to a darker, classic mood with Simone Rochas great collection, which shares with Erdem the Nineteenth-Century paisley inspiration, but seen with an Irish eye. So the runway was full of ruffles, lace hems and puff sleeves, but also pearls, raffia fringes, cigarette pants, platform shoes, night gown-inspired dresses, mesh details. Main colors are black, white and camel, with red, blue and olive printed details. Oh, and the cast featured some over 35 models too - including actress Olwen Fouéré.

Our favourite look: a tunic jacket with lace hems worn over cigarette pants, both in shiny camel with a graphic floral print, paired with platform sandals and a headband with raffia details.
