[NEWS] Star Beam swoons listeners with their acoustic versions of their hits in Wish 107.5 (Philippines)+ interview

  • Star Beam graces the famous Wish 107.5 bus as they start to promote the Manila stop of their ongoing "Beaming Memories" tour. This is the third visit of Star Beam to the Philippines within the year (Does your K-pop girls do this?)

The girls, who are known for their synchronized dance moves, decided to bless the Wishers (Wish 107.5 listeners) instead with their on-point stable vocals & harmonies through the acoustic version of "I Am", "Hit That Drum" & "Mermaid Princess". "I Am" is their title track of their latest album 'S/S 2019", "Hit That Drum" is the title track of the "S/S 2019" repackaged album & "Mermaid Princess" was the title track of their 2017 hit album "Mellow Memories". In this acoustic version, Hyoshin & Jeonah played guitars while Chaehee just casually tapping the table like a drum that looks like a typical Filipino high school classroom jam session . Chaehee's nonchalant tapping of the table earned memes from the Filipino Stan Twitter & even noticed by the locals being called 'relatable AF'

The girls talked about their third visit to Manila, their first Filipino word that they heard, their friendship with NCT 127 & Dreamies (who became their buddies in visiting Manila), their favorite Filipino foods & one member addresses about her tanned skin. Ryuna, Chaehee, Hyoshin, Jeonah & Saeyoon's thoughts were translated by Chloe

Q: So, I'm here today with Ryuna, Chaehee, Chloe, Hyoshin, Jeonah, Saeyoon & Yujia also known as one of the most popular K-pop girl groups today, Star Beam!!!!

Star Beam: Hello po, kami ang Star Beam!!!!!! (Hello we are Star Beam!!!!!)

Q: It's your third time now in the Philippines, and I heard that your tickets sold out in 30 minutes on the first day, how do you feel?

Chloe: Thank you, I didn't expect this 😄 Honestly, we are so so nervous since it's our first time to perform in the Philippines on our own. Because in our first & second visits here, we were just a part of the lineup of K-pop music festivals. This time, it's just us. Like "How are we going to pull off?" but then our company advises us to "Bring it on!!!!"

Q: That's the spirit, Chloe. So the funny thing is, you already performed with 2 NCT units, NCT 127 & NCT Dream, in separate occasions here in the Philippines. Some fans said that "NCT has became OT21 thanks to Star Beam", "WayV is shaking" and stuff like that. How do you feel?

Yujia: Well, who doesn't want to be an NCT member? Kidding 🤣 Umm... we are just friends who supported each other's endeavors. Yeah, almost all of our comebacks are overlapped so we always greet each other. Sometimes we eat out together. Before we always call NCT Dream as sunbaenim but now they call us "noona" when we see each other.

Q: Yujia, you look pretty in "Highway to Heaven" MV & you, the seven of you, look prettier in person

Star Beam: Thank you so much

Q: Since NCT 127 already toured before. What is their advice to you?

Hyoshin: Have fun & do your best because it will show 😄

Q: Okay... let's move on, you said that your concert will be on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. What can we expect on your concert?

Ryuna: We will perform our original songs as well as covers. I'm working hard to perfect my rapping for "Baby Don't Stop" with Hyoshin. Sorry If I'm not as good as Taeyong sunbaenim (bows). Also before the concert, we will have a photo wall for our fans so they can take pics on this memorable day. Also if you post anything related to our concert in your respective social media, our official hashtag is #/STRBM_BEAMING_MEMORIES_MANILA. This is applied to all stops in the entire tour

Q: Okay, what is the first Filipino word that you learned?

    Ryuna: Maganda
    Chaehee: Mabuhay
    Chloe: Maganda
    Hyoshin: Kumusta?
    Jeonah: Ano?
    Saeyoon: Maganda
    Yujia: Mahal Kita

Q: Oh... Maganda means beautiful & maganda kayong lahat (you are all beautiful). Anyway, what is your favorite Filipino food

    Ryuna: Lechon
    Chaehee: Chickenjoy
    Chloe: Halo-halo
    Hyoshin: Adobo
    Jeonah: Leche Flan
    Saeyoon: Adobo
    Yujia: Chickenjoy

Q: You're so quick with foods

Chaehee: Yes Yes 🤣 We try to eat a lot on tour because we need energy to perform

Q: What do you think about the Philippines before you visit?

Chaehee: Actually I'm actually a tanned person because I always trained in sports outside when I was a kid. People used to make fun of my tanned skin & called me Filipino. I don't know why they look down on Filipinos but they are some of the nicest people we met. Actually one of our staff in our company is a Filipino, he is so hardworking & always proud of his family. Also it sucks that they have to experience bullying as I do. I think my tanned skin is my charm too. Guys, not all K-pop idols have very fair skin but it doesn't make me less of an idol.

Q: Who inspired you as a group?

Jeonah: There are a lot of K-pop idols that we admire but we really admire Infinite & SNSD sunbaenims the most. We want to be like them who reaches out to touch people's hearts through music.

Q: Saeyoon, can you please invite our listeners to watch your concert

Saeyoon: Hello Wishers! If you're having a bad day, please watch our concert, "Beaming Memories: Star Beam live in Manila", on August 10, 5:45 PM (Philippine Standard Time) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. We will get lit together, okay? See you there!!!!!
