Adam -My Life as a Multiple #26
-
Adam is one of my newest alters. He's the other half of Emberly. Adam is with Jesse's alter, Sina. He is nothing like Emberly though. Where she is a fighter, he is calm and stoic. I saw him most recently emerge when my youngest daughter was very sick and almost died. Adam was planning on being the only one who could handle the situation and having to be out front. I was completely distraught and could not deal with the situation. Adam sat at the hospital until late into the night, stoically waiting for word from the doctor on her condition. She survived and is doing well today but he is still close and watches her condition like a hawk.
Adam picked his picture for this blog and it surprised me. It is darker and edgier than most of my alters. He is clearly part of my dark side. But in a good way. He is not a negative person. He is a realistic person. He sees the situation from an emotionless place and simply does the most practical thing.
I think his "emotionless" state can be scary to my family since they usually see me as full of emotion. Either I'm easily upset and anxious or happy go-lucky but I'm usually quite animated and talkative. Adam is the complete opposite of that. He is quiet, stoic, and not emotional in any way. He takes care of business, whatever it might be. He is not a protective alter or an angry alter at all. He is the voice of reason in our emotional firestorm.
Jesse's alter, Sina (pronounced Sheena), can be emotional and quite crazy sometimes so I would imagine she is drawn to Adam's calm and steady demeanor and way of being. He calms everyone around him with a single glance. I have heard him say, "Calm down. It's going to be okay. No one is dying." We are all drawn to his confidence in his ability to handle any situation.
I was afraid this was going to be my shortest entry yet because I don't have a lot of experience with using Adam. He usually stays in the back just watching. Sina describes him as a "wild card." She says he stands apart from societal norms and doesn't care what society might say about us or about our illness. Sina says Adam is like her, he will break rules to live life his way. He won't care what is said about it. I would probably care a great deal. Nico would be up all night worrying but not Adam. Adam would sleep like a baby.
Thank you for reading, sweet reader. I'm so grateful for your faithfulness and that you keep on reading. I know I have a lot to say. I'm grateful that you care and that you are trying to understand. Your questions are fine with me. I will answer them as honestly as I can. Thank you for your comments and "hearts" on the blog. It means so much.
Hugs, Nikki xx

What do you mean by newer alters? Rhana xo

@rboowybe Good question, Rhana. He is one that emerged later than the others. I was around 17 when Adam emerged. We had a nervous breakdown at the time and Emberly and Adam came out. Adam is still deep inside and stays there for the most part. I hope I answered your question. All the alters came out at different ages for me. That is why some are little and some are older. Thank you for asking the question.

@surfergirl3915 Yes it did! I'm sorry you had a nervous breakdown at 17. I had one at 34 and it was horrible. Rhana xoxo

So happy your daughter is o.k., no doubt Adam came to calm you. Sorry for your nervous breakdown. Our bodies and minds collapse when we can't take any more. Why does life have to be so damn rough?
-
@sjlew I'm not sure why life has to be rough but one thing we have learned is that it affords you the chance to get to meet wonderful people like you. You have come along and been a light in our darkness and a reminder that people do care and do see the struggle that we call life. I'm so grateful for your friendship and for meeting such a wonderful person. Have a fabulous weekend! Hugging you!

@surfergirl3915 Thank you sweetie, I know there is a purpose to life on earth, but the trials of life are harsh, I think the stronger souls take on the hardest trials, so happy to have met you also. You have an amazing attitude, with hugs!

Sorry to hear that story about your youngest daughter, but so glad that everything is ok with her. Adam is cool in his calmness. I mean, not everyone can handle any situation like he did. Thank you for sharing your blogs with us! Hugs, Asya
