𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 — Male
𝑺𝒆𝒙𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 — Fluid ♛ He’s experimented plenty, as a scientist would, in an effort to understand why he is not comfortable with intimacy. He calls it “the research of his youth.” Despite his attraction to various courtesans in the past, he chose to remain single and outside of setups—at celebrations he’d been forced to attend in the first place—Lars has mostly been abstinent to focus on his studies and training. But really, he’s learned getting close to anyone has consequences: like vulnerability.𝑶𝒄𝒄𝒖𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 — Lord Heir and Residential Mystic of House Persephone ♛ Lars is in charge of diplomatic matters regarding anything magical and spiritual in Lauried. He has the power to control and reprimand all shamans in Witten, which applies to anyone with magical abilities in the vicinity. Lars only performs spiritual rituals for an elite or lucky few and specialises in healing, blessings, and curses—since he shouldn’t to avoid scrutiny and losing allegiance of non-believers. Secretly and illegally, he has a deep interest in the dark arts since he’s found himself capable of unsettling powers.
He reports to and works under the Chief Shaman of Witten who has attended to his House since birth. As a nobleman, he does not have an interest in becoming a shaman (if his family would even allow it) because it involves eschewing familial and political ties.
𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 — As a wealthy lord, Lars received an elitist education in the arts and sciences during his youth until his 18th birth year. He was privileged enough to have this education take place in Opeierland, known for its unparalleled academies. He was trained in self-defense and archery by the best. Lars would travel back and forth between Opeierland and Witten with every break given; Lauried is fairly close to Opeierland borders, but this trip still took a week by carriage.
His knowledge is unparalleled to many since it was based on leading his castle town one day - and with his vision, all of Witten. However, this exclusivity and his studies of Persephone’s powers prove to be a weakness when it comes to “street smarts”—some of what he knows may be antiquated, or considered obsolete like his magic ♛ studied under the Chief Shaman of Witten during academic breaks until his recent death
𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 —

♛ Though he tries to show otherwise, his inexperience in romance makes him self-conscious around people he’s attracted to...so he will push them away𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 — Chlorokinesis (plant manipulation) and primarily toxigenesis. Lars also has the ability to cast blessings and curses from ancient texts belonging to House Persephone which typically call for elixirs ♛ For most of his life, Lars rarely used his powers officially; when they are summoned, it is only to do a necessary good. For example, at the age of 6, Lars blessed barren fields during a rare but brief drought said to be brought on by a curse prompted from Zeus himself. They prospered more than ever after it passed. More recently, he healed a highly-esteemed general from House Hermes of a battle wound with ancient words and droplets of serpent’s blood.
As he’s aged, incidents of what seem to be dark magic have occurred...Lars is still unsuspecting and unable to control it as he is told to by the House. Since no one in House Persephone has had magic in a century, they keep these accidents to themselves. Lately Lars hasn’t shared the increasing nature of his dark abilities to protect his family from himself. If a few more bodies drop, he feels no one else has to know...

𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆(𝒔) — Lars, like the rest of House Persephone, is tired of getting screwed over. Haven’t the other houses heard of Persephone’s ancient texts? The powerful atrocities their ancestors were capable of? They find most of their peers believe House Persephone to be nothing but flower-picking elitist freeloaders of House Demeter, whose magical history is nothing but a tale.
Therefore Lars is personally fond of keeping very close ties and excluding everyone else. 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯, he often says. Lars loathes House Demeter, whose shadow he was taught to hide under, but is fond of the only other major house in the province of Witten: House Hermes. Their smaller house are some of the only peers Lars and his immediate family regularly socialise with; they’ve protected Lauried for over a century now. The elderly of House Hermes even recall ancestors of House Persephone who did have magical powers. Demeter has often tried to sabotage their relations over the years because of this, fearful of being abandoned. Only now with an open throne of Olympiad is it looking more and more likely that Houses Persephone and Hermes collude and delve into their dark sides...
𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒔 — Recently arranged to be engaged to Catriona of House Hades for political gain and advantage in the succession challenge
𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝑯𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒁𝒆𝒖𝒔 — King Ragas and his ancestors have belittled Persephone for too long now. For as long as House Persephone has existed, it’s kneeled before Zeus as a daughter house. It is a strong but quiet belief among Olympiad: Zeus and his house forced themselves upon the house in the last century, in the form of interrelations, to purposefully offset the magical abilities of Persephone’s lineage. Many previously born in the House, possibly gifted, were sent to live and be controlled under House Zeus or simply cursed to their doom. Lars is eager to change this history so when he becomes Lord of Lauried sometime soon, his house can finally be as respected as they once were. The only way? Dethrone Zeus to rid of empty promises and fool’s gold.
𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆 — Lars believes many have potential, but none have everything necessary to lead as he does: too much money, a scary magical ability, and multitudes of needy or bored or passionate believers who wish to see his House’s dark but powerful past revived. With Houses Hermes and Hades on his side, the non-believers shant exist for long anyway.
𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄 — As he’s already begun to practise, Lars believes magic and those potent or susceptible to it must be governed, educated and, above all, kept at peace. He finds himself primarily only fond of those with abilities because they can understand what he struggles with on a daily basis—or at least somewhat. Lars wants to devote his time building a platform and party for such applicable people after he’s earned their respect and alliance...to crown him King of Olympiad. He believes he can start a revolution of sorts with his magic despite not being able to yet tame it.

𝐵𝐼𝒪𝒢𝑅𝒜𝒫𝐻𝒴
“Beware of Lars!” has become a common phrase whispered among those in the House of Persephone. This heir has a temper known to have deadly consequences on more than one occasion. Look at him sideways in the hallway — lashing. Bring him the wrong tea in the morning — fired. Tell him things he doesn’t want to hear….well, there’s never a punishment on record, but bearers of bad news have been known to face terrible accidents shortly thereafter. After all, he is the only member of his house that has magic in over a century, which makes him required to participate in the Three Shades of Persephone. It is an ancient ritual to bestow The Sight upon members of her House...or die trying. He constantly trains to face the test with an eerie calm and gritty determination. He claims that since surviving this is his main priority, he does not have time for anything else.Lars avoids social events of all kinds to his parents’ dismay with the excuse that he will only get married after the Shades, and that therefore, there is no need to look for a wife. However, they have recently forged a very controversial relationship anyway. Though he would never admit it, there is a soft underbelly to his shell of cruelty and hard work. It has just been covered in armor and reinforced by his intense desire for power. Lord Lars has never allowed himself to dream of another way of life, but the possibilities might open themselves to him without him even noticing.
𝐸𝒳𝒯𝐸𝒩𝒟𝐸𝒟 𝐵𝐼𝒪𝒢𝑅𝒜𝒫𝐻𝒴
♛ Since he was a child, his parents the Lord and Lady of Lauried, took advantage of Lars’ magical abilities. It was overwhelming and exciting at first. But then they had him try to gift The Sight upon his older brother, Demetrius, when Lars was only 8. He told them he wasn’t ready to participate in The Shades, but they were so astonished with his powers that they didn’t listen. Lars has yet to recover from killing his older brother. It is why he shows kindness, or rather weakness, to children as his brother was only a year older. The House, of course, covered the murder up: a freak-accident caused by one of the massive wolves said to lurk in rural Lauried. Even Lars’ younger siblings don’t know the truth, though they’ve come to suspect Lars is dangerous from incidents that have followed. Since then, Lars has dedicated his life to being the perfect, living, eldest son...and perhaps communicating with the dead?
♛ In his studies, Lars has learned people tend to care more about the afterlife and those who have died more than life itself—and he can relate. He’s become obsessed with the dark arts and a newly surfaced Book of Persephone. It is one of Her many owned books and some have yet to be found. This new discovery may just lead Lars to more curses previously known to gifted members of the House. Lars has been performing more and more favours for shamans and townspeople in order to gain shunned knowledge about his House’s dark past. He dare not speak to his parents about it, for fear they would ban his practises. Little do they know, Lars plans to utilise his frightening abilities to scare Olympiad into submission as their chosen champion…after all, what better place to practise than on a bunch of nobodies in Steden who think they’ve got a chance for the throne?
♛ Lars has recently become so preoccupied with his studies of The Shades that he’s allowed himself to become engaged to a non-magical heiress. Usually he’d be up in arms about this, as he’s fiercely independent and adamant about the way his personal life is presented to outsiders. What about House Hermes, their soon-to-be conspirators? What of this Catriona, Lady of Ronioduba? Do they share a similar vision of the future? Will she bare his children and will they have Persephone’s gifts? Or will they be without magic as this young First Born of House Hades?
Nevertheless, it must be done. Too many questions have begun to be asked about Lars and his late-night activities. Some even believe he is laying with prostitutes and killing them after on purpose. It doesn’t help that a Hades and Persephone union hasn’t happened in their families for years and those myths about their houses only furthers his interest in the dark arts - especially upon arriving in Ansis to find he has more control of his powers. After his recent accident, killing the Chief Shaman of Witten...well, a wedding is a perfect distraction. ♛
𝒮𝒰𝒫𝒫𝐿𝐸𝑀𝐸𝒩𝒯𝒜𝐿
𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 —

♛ Intimidating through age - his solemn, blank expressions - and effortlessly classic beauty
♛ Typically wearing dark clothing but always with a signature floral print or crown as is the custom in House Persephone
♛ Speaks clearly and eloquently but with a muffled deep voice - he is aware and sensitive of this so he’ll often pick up the tone or volume of his speech which can be scary
♛ If you can see or get past his hardened front, you will find that he is just shy and unable to understand why...
♛ ...but it is because he is a sulker, blinded by passion, fearful but defiant of death - and he hates himself for being like this, but can’t stop it because of what Persephone destined for him ♛𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒔:
