    "WHO'S THAT GIRLS?"

    |=15 minutes before the 6:00 AM call time, Star Beam greeted the entire staff of Nylon. I was curious, who is that girl group who became viral thanks to their busking performance in London. I just realized that the girl group who drew a big crowd in the streets who recently bagged the "Rising Star" award in the 9th Asian Awards is no other than Star Beam, the cover girls of the May issue of Nylon UK.

    For those who are unfamiliar with K-pop other than BTS & Black Pink, Star Beam is a female septet who debuted in January 27, 2017.They have 5 Koreans, 1 Korean-American & 1 Chinese as members & trained for 2-5 years. Star Beam are true blue Nylon babies since Nylon documented their growth as artists since their debut

    Before they become Star Beam, they were just an ordinary squad who met only in the summer workshops & has a group chat named "RyuChaeSooHyhttps://urstyle.com/user/official_strbm/sets#oBaekSaeYu". So how does these girls keeping up with their communication during school days? Again, group chat. They just send selfies for each other & talking about typical teenage stuffs.

    Chaehee & Jeonah were schoolmates & friends in Busan while Chloe & Yujia were already roommates & best friends in SOPA during senior high school. Saeyoon studied in Japan. Hyoshin & Ryuna were active as student body officers while in their respective schools in Changwon & Daegu. All of the members are very active in school festivals that they were encouraged to join in an annual summer workshop that little they knew that it would changed their lives forever. All of them joined thanks to boredom & their interest in performance

    According to them, the training process in their label, Music Box Factory Entertainment, is a bit different from the other K-pop companies. All members said that their company wants them to focus on schooling too that's why their training time was only during school breaks that this explains Star Beam's training years of 2-5 years with Hyoshin trained the longest & Saeyoon trained the shortest whose skills that easily catch up with others.

    They remember that they only meet during annual summer workshops where they trained in singing, dancing, rapping, acting, song writing, musical instruments & MC-ing. Also they live together in one roof for 4 years during those days but they move in together as a group only in early 2016. Also back in the day, they were doing annual busking in the streets of Seoul to little by little have exposure as future K-pop stars. They work on original works & cover different songs to work on their teamwork as a girl group. One of the most noted predebut TV appearances is Yujia as former Infinite member Hoya's back-up dancer in Korean idol dance competition "Hit The Stage"

    The girls were the most beautiful & talented girls in the bunch of workshop trainees that's why after the recital, they have a brunch with their CEO in a fast food chain & a producer to discuss about them will debut together as a girl group. So the producer asked the CEO, "So what about put them together into a girl group because all of them have star quality of their own & they can make people happy?". The CEO wanted a girl version of BTOB, Got7, NCT 127 (the original lineup), BTS & Infinite that's why the girls are 7 which is not too many or not too little.

    So Ryuna said that they want to be the girl group who inspires people through spreading optimism by using their status as celebrities and Chloe be like why not name them as Star Beam (beam is synonymous to smile) to justify Ryuna's suggestion. Everyone is shookt to their suggestion . Hence, Star Beam is born

    Ever since, Star Beam is very hands-on to their decisions that concerns them but they listen to their superiors & have help from others. It's been 2 years since they debut, they received many accolades as a group & collaborated with different artists during special stages like Royals in The Dark, A-Prince, Madam Pearl, Evolution, Dua Lipa, NCT 127, LH2, Cherry Bomb & among others.

    I observed their body language & it seems that they really show that they have genuine friendship. Chloe helped the Korean members in translating the interview questions in their native language while Yujia don't have a problem in answering questions as it is. A lot of their fans or ByulBis said that they are genuinely nice & I agree with them. Talking to Star Beam is like talking to long time friends than talking to celebrities.

    Aside from the visuals & talents, their music & their bond makes them one of the rising girl groups in K-pop. They said that someday, they will perform on the biggest stages in the world & they thanked their fans who supported them in the idol journey & they will work hard to pay back all the love.=|
