Barajas Airport to central Madrid without wasting time

Hello to all fans of Spanish cuisine! My girlfriend and I are heading to Madrid on a food tour; we’re arriving in the afternoon and plan to go straight to Plaza Mayor to sample the famous tapas. Since we don’t have much time, we want to make the most of our logistics.

Guys, is it really possible to get from Barajas Airport straight to the historic center quickly, so we don’t waste precious vacation time on transfers? And if we’re flying with a budget airline, which terminal do they usually arrive at, and is there an express city bus stop nearby?

Have a wonderful trip! Madrid is the perfect place for a tapas tour. Budget airlines usually arrive at the older terminals (T1 or T2), and the most convenient way to get there is by taking the Express Airport Bus. It goes straight to Plaza de Cibeles, and from there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk or one stop to Plaza Mayor.
