I restore old audio equipment as a hobby, and I’m constantly in need of technical specifications for the devices. I often come across rare Japanese or European models, and finding descriptions for them is a real challenge. Regular search engines turn up junk websites where, instead of the document I need, I end up downloading some obscure software or viruses. I need technical precision, including diagrams of internal component layouts and part specifications. My collection of equipment is growing, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep everything in my head or search for bits and pieces online. Is there a comprehensive and reliable online database of instructions and manuals that I can trust?

Usually, on fan sites dedicated to audio equipment, all links lead to file-sharing sites that have long since removed the files due to expiration. I’ve tried contacting collectors directly, but not everyone responds, and I want to use my time on repairs efficiently. It would be ideal to find a site with a convenient search function by year of manufacture and device serial number.

I totally get it—there are some devices where you’re afraid to even take the cover off without the service manual. I decided to restore an old-school vinyl record player from the GDR.
