Which breed of puppy?

Hi there, just looking for some ideas really... after thinking long and hard, we've decided to finally get the puppy our kids have been desperate for. I've always loved big dogs (my own were a labrador retriever and an alaskan malamute) but my DH is only on board if we go for a little dog (fair enough, he has his reasons). He's also determined that he wants a breed as opposed to a mongrel, simply because you can be relatively sure of the adult size, or at least a cross breed, where we can see the parents... so i've been looking at Pincers, French Bulldogs, Long Haired Chihuahuas... do any of you have a small dog? Can you suggest any breed that would suit 3 pre-teens (good for walking, playing,lots of cuddling). It's such an important decision as this dog will (hopefully) be part of the family until my kids are young adults. I've been waiting for fate to drop the tighy puppy in my lap, but it's taking it's time! I'd appreciate any ideas/advice on breeds that are good for kids.

Considering you have three teenagers, it's important to choose a friendly, energetic, and patient breed so the children can play and go for walks with the dog. Among small breeds, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Bichon Frises, Pugs, and Shih Tzus are good choices—they're generally affectionate, easily trained, and tolerant of children. French Bulldogs are also an option, but they require caution with active play due to their body type.

Small breeds that thrive on interaction and aren't overly nervous are well-suited for families with children. Chihuahuas are affectionate but still quite fragile, while teacup pomeranian are a better choice. They are very people-oriented, enjoy playing, walking, and cuddling, and make great companions for children. Choosing a small breed is entirely justified; these dogs fit perfectly into the family for many years.
