*Signing up as an exchange student had sounded fun. Get to see America, see some celebrities, go to an expensive, exclusive school? Maisie had all but swam across the ocean herself to get the chance. Her host family is nice and while she's there, she's ok.
*School is another story though. The Pretty Committee seems hell bent on recruiting her, but she's made friends within her own little circle and they keep saying it's the worst decision she could make. But who wouldn't want to be worshipped the way those girls are? Who wouldn't want that fame?

𝒫𝑒𝓇𝓈𝑜𝓃𝒶𝓁 𝐼𝓃𝒻𝑜

𝐿𝒾𝓀𝑒𝓈: painting, acting, singing and dancing, adventure, the experience that is having brothers, Sìleas and her music (baby sister sends her self-recorded tracks all the time while she’s been away), roaming the West End theatres, flirting, Doctor Who, Good Omens, Neil Gaiman’s books, flowers and gardens, Instagram
𝒟𝒾𝓈𝓁𝒾𝓀𝑒𝓈: the assumption she needs protection because she’s a girl, sunburns (being a ginger sucks on that matter), being told she can’t do things, bullies, avocado, sports, the gender segregation at West Lake Day School

𝒮𝓉𝓎𝓁𝑒: feminine, yet also somewhat trendy. A lot of skirts and dresses, generally in soft and/or jewel tones that bring out her ginger hair. She’s not afraid of color at all.

𝑀𝒶𝓃𝓃𝑒𝓇𝒾𝓈𝓂𝓈: humming to herself when she’s focusing on something, chewing on her lower lip, doodling in the margins of her notes

In Scotland and England, when the family is living near London, she’s the eldest daughter of Stuart MacDonald and Aileas MacDonald. Stuart works as a rather well-known producer in the West End, and it’s through him that Maisie developed her love of the theatre. Although her mother often states that she fears Maisie is too headstrong for her own good, especially when it comes to her stepping into musical theatre, Aileas still supports her daughters in whatever they want to do. Even when it means letting Maisie travel all the way to the States as an exchange student. And then there’s her baby sister Sìleas MacDonald, who is fast developing dreams of being a rock star. Even from across the ocean, Maisie is her little sister’s biggest supporter.

Maisie rather adores Mathew and Charmian Emmett, the parents who opened their home to her once she accepted the position as an exchange student. She’s a regular visitor at the trendy pub they run, and she rather suspects they truly see her as their daughter. Especially as they hadn’t been lucky enough to have one, instead just their three sons. Cleveland works as a bartender at the pub, so Maisie crosses paths with him often. They’ve somewhat developed a semblance of a big brother, baby sister dynamic, and Cleveland tries to stop her from being reckless likely more often than his parents do. Case Emmett is the middle son, and off at university, at Stanford studying medicine. He’s aware his parents opened their house to her, but sheonly see him during holidays when he’s home to visit. And then there’s Ten…
𝐿𝑜𝓋𝑒 𝐼𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓈𝓉: Tennyson Emmett (Noah Centineo)
Ten is a junior at the male campus of West Lake, and also her host family’s youngest son. Which is awkward, but not entirely wrong, right? He doesn’t quite see Maisie as a sister, anyhow, but nothing has happened yet.

𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝐼𝓃𝒻𝑜:

𝑅𝑒𝓁𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅 𝓉𝑜 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒫𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓉𝓎 𝒞𝑜𝓂𝓂𝒾𝓉𝓉𝑒𝑒: I don’t honestly know what to think. The girls seem to be rather nice to me, but my friends tell me it’s a front. Even Ten questions their motives. Although, is it so bad to want to try to be the best person I want to be while I’m here? Maybe they can help me be that. Maybe not. But shouldn’t it be my decision?
