[PRESS] Flaming Heart (1st US EP) Global Press Conference (September 12, 2020)

The virtual press conference was attended by domestic and international journalists via Zoom. Chloe became the host and translator of the press conference (& some members make contributions for adlibs)
The girls talks about their thoughts in their US debut, collaborating with certain NCT members, Hopes in K-pop overtaking the global music landscape, & practicing English
On making a US debut
Ryuna: Of course, we are very excited but nervous since the US market is very competitive and we are very proud to see our seniors taking risks to make our country proud
Chaehee: Debuting in the US market in a such a weird time is quite challenging since we're just here in Korea to promote our EP. Good thing some of our staff are very good in promoting our music on social media, so I applaud them for that. We try our best to promote our US debut effort in social media so please anticipate!
Hyoshin: Remember our collab with Public for "Make You Mine" last year? These guys send us flowers today to congratulate us. After our collab, we are still communicate and supporting with each other which is very nice
On their aspirations as a girl group
Chloe: Our goals since the beginning is to be the girl group that Asia can be proud of for a long time. We want to be the artist who inspire the youth to follow their dreams and have their own platform. We still have a long way to go in this journey. Let's do it slowly but surely.
On working with certain NCT members (read: Johnny, Mark, Jaemin, Jeno, Kun & Yangyang)
Jeonah: We're not joking if we say these boys are supportive in our endeavors. Not just screenshot of them listening to our songs but they even offer to write songs for us!!!! This is really really crazy
Saeyoon: We just inform them that we are producing music then here they go! They already have drafts! It's so much fun. I want to writes songs for them in the future~~~
Chloe: I already mentioned this in our podcast with Eric Nam, so just listen to the podcast so you can get the context
But yeah, Mark & Johnny are great writers and they are super supportive.Ryuna: Actually "All I Need" [she wrote with Kun & Yangyang] wasn't born out of the banana milk /looks at Jeonah at Saeyoon & everyone laughs/. It's just Kun & I have similar hobbies then Yangyang considered us his older sister figures.
On Stan Twitter trolling
Yujia: Because of them [Stan Twitter], honestly, that was the lowest point of my career. I was "cancelled" for defending myself against a creepy AF former idol [the clip was resurfaced after a series of recent events this week] by throwing a high heeled shoe at him during an award show 2 years ago. Talking to him politely was useless that's why I did that. I don't want him to take advantage of my politeness so I just angrily throw a shoe at his eye. I wore pants that time but still I was disrespected by attempting to touch us without our consent. After that, I talked to Ryuna unnie and his former bandmate immediately about the situation. I'm sharing this because I want our female fans to be safe from predators. We all stand by the victims of his disgusting act.
Ryuna: We are so mad on what he did to Yujia and we are glad that his company kicked him out
Hyoshin: It's not that we are talking about our reputation here or chasing clout, we are women in the first place before we became idols. It's just that we have a platform and we have to use this privilege for the better. Whoever cancelled Yujia, you're not welcome in the fandom anymore
Chaehee: Since that incident, we became their punching bag of hate for every unproblematic things we do [their closeness with NCT specifically JohnJia and SaeJae makes them "problematic" by Stan Twitter] and we don't want to take that narrative from us. Hence, we wrote "Flaming Heart" out of those trolling about our maknae's love life.
Jeonah: Stan Twitter are so funny
They slammed us for changing the ending of "Romeo & Juliet" but they never came for Taylor Swift and creatives for the same reason This is so funny!!!!/everyone laughs/
On giving Romeo & Juliet a happy ending
Saeyoon: They deserve to be together so we gave them the happy ending where they are both alive and living their life independently of their families' hatred which is empowering. Guys, normalize cutting off people in your life if it's toxic. You deserve better in life!

On Practicing English
Hyoshin: We just practice by reciting lines from Hollywood movies or English songs, solving crossword puzzles and reading Western Magazines. If we encounter an unfamiliar word, we just annotate it. We learn this from Chloe & Yujia
Chloe: I'm not joking if I say the members are improving their English these days so, I'm proud of them
